It did not take long to discover that in the colder times, mice lived in it, as well. It was never visible, but I brought two cats to the party, as well, and you know what cats do to show love, don't you? If you don't, you clearly don't know nearly enough people who own cats! They hunt the pests (by their or your perception) and leave the dead critter in your favourite place in the house. I praise them lavishly, give them the appropriate love, then remove the poor thing and toss the body (wrapped in a paper towel) and that is the end of it. For the first, oh, 20 years, there was a balanced that worked well: they moved right out when the outdoor temperature hit 13C or 55F, and remained out of doors until the cold (in late November) sent them back in. They lived typically under the stove, were never seen by us and left no sign they'd been anywhere in the house proper, but sometime in 2022, they stopped living outdoors in the warmer times and became overpopulated. This ties in directly with Siobhán who died in the autumn of 2024 and Luíseach, who is almost 15 -- their mousing days have long since ended. So it reached the point where we had to have a service come in and deal with the meeces (if you are age-appropriate to me, you'll know this expression). I met with several different companies, and we decided on Erhlich. We are very happy we did. They look over the house, give us estimates on different things we need to do to keep the mice out (I had no problem with them so long as they respected the rules, but once that ceased, so did my general hospitality. I have little against most creatures. They did successfully (the second spring) remove the groundhogs (very important) and they removed them alive. I was insistent on this. Mice are all over, and I can assure you, they live in every home in this part of the US...if you don't think soo, you have a good balance and you may never be aware of them. But at some point, this may happen to you. If it does, send for Erhlich. They will do right by you.

Stephen (Inspection & Sales) - Stephen arrived exactly at the scheduled time and was friendly from the moment he walked in. He inspected my attic, measured the square footage, and walked me through all available insulation options. No upselling...just available options. Based on our conversation about my high winter heating bills, he also suggested that my outer walls likely needed insulation. Before giving me any pricing, he made sure I understood that Atticare would secure the best possible PSE&G rebate. They ultimately obtained a sizable rebate (free money!) and a 0% loan for 72 months billed as part of my monthly utilities bill, which allowed me to insulate all three floors of outer walls in addition to the attic.
