CHECK FOR BED BUGS or biting insects!! I hate that I have to give a bad review. Before yesterday, I would give this place 5 stars. I've been several times over the last year and always experienced a great massage. However yesterday (10/21/17), during my 1-hour combo massage while I was laying face down with my arms dangling off the massage bed, something was irritating my right forearm and it starting itching pretty badly. At first I tried to ignore it, then moved my arm and brushed it against the side of the bed to scratch it without interrupting the massage. I didn't think much more of it. Well, this morning that same area is itchy, red and swollen and looks like I was bitten all over. I tried to call there to report this and unfortunately the person didn't understand, and said they only understand "massage or no." Needless to say, I will not be going back anymore. I only wish I would have stopped to look at my arm right when I felt the irritation and to examine the bed more closely for evidence of bed bugs. read more

The dreaded flu had been circling around me for quite some time, and I had been fortunately well enough to not have caught anything. Well goes to show I'm not that much of a super woman as I led on to be. The evil villain of kooties attacked when I had my guard down. Boom out for the rest of the week. He did listen to my request although it was altered a bit. When Friday came I was feeling myself again somewhat. Mr.GC came up with a plan that would benefit both of us. Sucka got away with not giving me a back rub lol... He opted for a couples massage, I thought pretty clever on his part. He took me to his regular place where he often gets his quick relaxation from a long week. Its not the most fanciest place, and he made me totally aware of it. I just wanted to get the massage, so I went along with it. Yes, it is not fancy, its a large room filled with big lounge recliners. Dimed lighting mostly red, warm temperature, but that could of just been me feeling stuffy. My head still felt clogged and was actually hard of hearing I was relying on reading lips to a point. The staff was very friendly and the young lady who did my massage was excellent. We did an hrs. worth feet and back. The feet were soaked in warm water than lotion up placing pressure in the right spots. It was heaven. When it came f r her doing my back I was left to feeling like putty. My misuse was so kind in her little voice making sure I was in no pain. By the time it was over I wanted nothing more than to just take a shower and go to bed. The reason I left only one star was not of the service nor the staff or the art of the massage. It was for one reason, and one reason only. I think the last towel she placed on my back to dry from the warm wet cloth might of had something. Instantly I felt like something was biting me and got itchy real quick. My skin is real sensitive as it is, so I try not to think about it to much, told myself it could just be the oil. But then again thought no... I would feel it on my feet legs and arms also. So I don't think that was it either. I told Mr.GC when we left that something isn't right I'm real itchy on my upper back. I asked if he felt anything and he said No; but that he wanted to take a shower from the oils. we had planed to pick up PF Chang on the way home as we did. we went in had a drink while we waited for the order. I had to go to the ladies room and do something. My back was so agitated. I got a warm paper towel and just started wiping as much as I could until I could take care of it fully at home. Came here to get a relaxing massage with my daughter on Thursday 4/5/18, but that is not what I received. We told the man at the front desk we were not that familiar with massage, and we requested medium pressure. I do not know the name of the woman who worked with me as she was not introduced. During my massage the woman would occasionally use extremely hard pressure, knead me hard with her elbows and it felt like she was pulling on my shoulder blades. She would then lighten back up, so I didn't say anything to her. I have bruises on my lower back and burning pain at the base of my neck and shoulders. I had a massage before at another place where I was sore the next day and then it went away. It is now 4/9/18 and my neck is still so sore I cannot sleep with a pillow. NEVER EVER EVER get a massage here. I came here with 3 of my friends and ALL of us had a terrible experience. We all left feeling tense and sore, the opposite of what a massage should feel like. They did the strangest & most unsanitary things to us. I've never had a massage where the masseuse sticks their finger INSIDE your ear like a Q-Tip! To make it worse, touch your face afterwards! And when does a massage go from the foot THEN to your backside?! Feet are always last! They never washed their hands in between as well. That's just gross. On top of the worst massage EVER, I was absolutely amazed at the unprofessionalism of the staff. We called ahead to make a reservation at 6:30pm, everything seemed great. But when we got there they told us that we had to come back later because 2 people walked in before we arrived. We got there 5-10 minutes before our scheduled reservation. First she said the wait was about 20 minutes, then she told us to come back at 7:30pm. Already pissed off because they gave our reservation slot to a pair of walk-ins, we just went to go eat dinner to kill time. We went back around 7:25 & it just got worse. They told use that now we had to come back at 9:30pm! 3 HOURS AFTER OUR INITIAL RESERVATION! We were getting really upset so they just sat us down right away. They worked for me & one of my friends first & then 2 other masseuses worked on my other 2 friends about 20 minutes after we started. Two of my family members and I walked in for special combo massages (30 minutes feet + 30 back) on a Tuesday afternoon. We called a couple other places that either did not answer the phone or weren't able to take us. This was able to accommodate all 3 of us without any appointment, which was nice. For the massage they soaked my feet in slightly hot water, while they massaged pressure points on my face/head. For my back, they used a combination of oil and hot stones with varying pressure depending on how much tension I had different areas. I have had a lot of tension in my neck and shoulders, and I'm also flat-footed, which can cause pain in my feet when I run or walk around for long periods of time, making the combo was a better choice for me. They also offer a regular 1 hour massage for $20, if you don't feel like you need the extra time in those areas. I was highly satisfied with my massage because they were able to dig deep into areas where I needed it most. I definitely recommend this place to those looking to unwind after a long day. read more

The massage was great the only weird thing about it was the massage in the inner ear, other than that I loved the massage. After my massage I didn't realize that they only accept cash for tips so thank goodness I had some cash in my car, but before I left I did notice that they expect to get tipped without question so I didn't like the fact that they were just expecting for me to give them something that was kinda rude. I have been a loyal customer for almost one year and have had numerous massages there. I have always found the location to be clean and the staff to be courteous. Oddly enough my very first massage was not all that great and I drove away angry. My wife's massage was good, but I returned to the store a few minutes later and complained that the massage was too soft and not worth my time and money. They more than made up for this with a free massage. The staff wants you to leave happy and refreshed. But everyone is different. I need the hardest pressure possible to unwind the knots in my back and this is considered a deep tissue massage and yes, I can be a little sore the next day, but I know that the deep seated pain and stiffness is gone. Don't be afraid to let them know that you want more or less pressure. It goes without saying that they cannot read our mind's. They are always respectful and there is never any "Funny Business" going on. There are about half a dozen staff members, male and females. When you find that perfect staff member remember to ask for them by name. For me it is "Alicia". I have tried other stores in the area and some have "Memberships" and much higher rates. I have paid the higher prices in the past for massages and I can tell you that there is no difference between the $60 massage and the $20 massage offered by Eastern, other then leaving with forty more dollars in your pocket. read more

I like this place because they are friendly, they do their best to give you the most relaxing experience and they actually give you a massage instead of just push around the skin. The only thing I don't really care for is when they pull and slam my legs. Having been through multiple knee injuries, I'm very protective of what happens to my knees and them jerking on my legs is just asking for another injury. I also don't care for when they pop my ankles or my joints. Sometimes they understand when I say "no" and sometimes they don't so when they don't understand, I just tense my muscles and bit and protect myself from the impact and force to come. Other than that, you can't really beat the price of a full body massage. Out of all the places in Riverside, this one is my favorite place because they have full reclining chairs, the staff here is very friendly and professional and they can always fit me in for an appointment. At Eastern Ancient even when they use harder pressure they are skilled enough not to hurt you. Place is amazing. I've never had a massage up until I was introduced to this place 3 years ago. They are thorough, strong and not scared to work. I had a dude crawl on my back there once using his knees and elbows only. Their fake names like "Tom" and "Steve" are always pretty good too. If you tip good they'll remember. I've never waited more than 5 minutes either. The only downfall is the snoring, grunting, loud speaking, coughing customers that sometimes walk in while you're living the dream. It was always $20 for what's called a "Foot Massage" but in reality was a full body massage (not sure why they call it foot massage). Anyway, I went back and their prices had increased by $10. This time there was a short wait for the massage...no problem. When the massage began, my therapist had cold hands and he was shaking. At first I thought he was perhaps cold and he might warm up after he got going. Instead, the shaking became trembling and the massage was horrible!!
