The Cellars is right next to the Harris Teeter so it's very convenient to get your groceries and then purchase a bottle of wine or pack of beer. And if I'm not mistaken, they have the same or similar hours as Harris Teeter, so they're open super early. I've found some fairly decent wine there as well as beer, which means I usually take a spin through there even if I'm not in the mood for a drink. That said, this place is seriously overpriced! It's like you pay for the convenience of it being attached to the grocery store. Also, they only offer beer and wine, so if one needs hard liquor, they can't get it there. I stopped in recently because I was in the mood for wine, and I was excited to see they were hosting an in-store rosé tasting. I always enjoy being able to sample a wine before purchasing, especially when it comes with a little information about the wine and the opportunity to discover something new. That kind of experience makes wine shopping feel much more personal and enjoyable. I think this place has so much potential. During my visit, not all of the featured rosés were available to taste, and the sample pours were just a couple drops. If the sample pour were similar to what I've experienced in other wine shops, I believe it could've provided a fuller experience to select a wine. I also would have loved to hear a bit more about each wine while tasting. Overall, I still think this is a convenient wine shop, and with a slightly more engaging tasting experience and customer service, I easily could have walked out with multiple bottles.
