However the ultrasound doctor strongly advised to give birth at a hospital. At the time we didn't understand why or the urge to sway us away from the birthing center. When we told the midwive she immediately tried getting rid of me as a patient. I had to call around different doctor offices trying to be seen at 39 weeks which was impossible to get an appointment. My husband finally bugged the midwife enough for her to tell me to "go to a hospital, lie about having contractions" that she would make a call and have some random doctor that I've never met claim me as his patient for me to be admitted. We were left with no doctor, no help, no answers, told to lie to medical staff. It was completely stressful. No medical facility should ever treat someone like this ! Especially someone who is pregnant . It turns out that OUR midwive was responsible for the death of a baby during labor. 3 months prior to my delivery. Along with a list of previous medical misconduct. In the end we lucked out with a healthy baby, but literally shame on all of you. You all knew what was going on and you guys could have stepped in and provided the necessary care. https://mediaassets.abc15.com/html/embeds/Midwives%20database/Karin%20Braun.pdf KARIN BRAUN I HOPE YOU NEVER GET YOUR LICENSE BACK!!

I could not have had a more dramatically different experience than what I saw in the reviews - it's safe to say that the management has heard your concerns! We came in at 9:30pm to a very full labor and delivery floor - cancelled the inductions for the day & a woman had been waiting for a delivery room for 7 hours longer than me... Things were not looking too promising. The nurse in triage, Kristy (I hope I'm spelling that right) moved MOUNTAINS for us. She continuously let us know what was going on on the floor and how my labor was progressing. When there was no delivery room available and the nurses were literally spread to their max, she found a way for us to get to a room to help alleviate my pain and welcome my son into the world. I have never felt more looked after than I did with her. Following that, the postpartum ward was delightful! The team that works in there is extremely respectful and caring. Food wise, pretty good! Not the typical icky hospital food that you hear about! If you get the chocolate chip cookie, put it next to a piece of bread for a little bit and it isn't as dry & oh so much more yummy! I hope & pray that everyone gets to have my experience! Even the OB who was on call... I don't know if I would have remotely the same delivery experience if it wasn't for him & his gentle encouragement throughout - you are the best Dr. Canestraro!

Banner Desert Hospital in Mesa Arizona failed my father in every possible way during what would be…read morethe last weeks of his life. My father was admitted on April 16th 2026 with a confirmed cancer diagnosis that had already been documented in his medical records. He sat in that hospital for five days before a single oncologist walked through his door. Five days. When the oncologist finally came on April 21st it was the first time my father had ever seen an oncologist in his entire life. And it happened on the day they were trying to discharge him. The discharge paperwork they tried to send him home with was factually inaccurate. His CT scan performed right there in that building showed possible pancreatitis, bowel wall thickening, gallstones, aggressive malignant ascites, severely elevated bilirubin of 12.80, and compromised kidney function. None of it was on his discharge papers. They listed cirrhosis and noted he should get a blood test to check for liver cancer. He already had confirmed liver cancer. That is not a clerical error. That is negligence. They tried to discharge my father for three to four days before we even had a chance to arrange proper care elsewhere. When we finally had an appointment at City of Hope they discharged him to a hotel because they refused to transfer him directly to the cancer center the way it should have been done for a critically ill cancer patient. When I advocated for my father and asked questions about his care and his inaccurate discharge paperwork they called security on me. Twice. I was not threatening anyone. I was a daughter fighting for her dying father. That is what they called security for. Nurses Kelsey and Ashley were dismissive, cold, and treated my father without dignity or compassion. They did not do their jobs and their lack of care was witnessed by our entire family. The one exception was nurse Merisol who treated my father with the kindness, warmth, and professionalism that every patient deserves. She was the only bright light in an otherwise disgraceful experience. My father came home after leaving this facility and passed away shortly after. He deserved so much better. Every patient who walks through those doors deserves so much better. If the people running this hospital ever have to admit their own parents here I hope they receive the exact same level of care that my father received. Maybe then they will understand what they put our family through. Do not come here unless you have no other choice. And if you do end up here ask for Merisol and pray she is your nurse. This hospital is under investigation and I am pursuing every legal avenue available to me.

Diane and Belinda are educated, caring, and very intentional when it comes to the care for both mom and baby. Finding Willow birth center was an answered prayer. The purpose of updating my review is the transparency of the billing team or whoever is in charge of finances over there. NOT GOOD. Bad enough to dampen the overall experience. With our first child, we left with a $1000 credit that no one told us about until we went back with our second child. We were overcharged and not told. With our second child, we chose to use insurance which helped, because our insurance team was able to help us keep track of the tasks that they were billing for. With our third and fourth child, we were only able to receive prenatal care. WHICH I AM SO GRATEFUL, Willow is the most comforting and reassuring group of midwives in Arizona (in my personal experience) However, from our first appointment with Willow for our third and fourth children, we were told by both them, and by our insurance company that all of my prenatal care was completely covered.... MY KIDS WERE BORN IN AUGUST AND IT IS DECEMBER AND WE ARE STILL RECEIVING BILLS FROM THEM. I HAVE CALLED THE FINANCE TEAM, WILLOW, AND THE NUMBER ON THE EMAIL TRYING TO BILL US. WE HAVE YET TO RECEIVE A CALLBACK. THIS IS MY REVIEW AND MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, HOWEVER, THE FRIENDS THAT I'VE SENT TO WILLOW TO HAVE BABIES ARE STILL STRUGGLING WITH THE FINANCE TEAM A LITERAL YEAR AFTER HAVING THEIR CHILDREN. When I go to have my fifth child, God willing, I would so quickly call Rachel and Rubyan for a home birth if they have those qualifications by then, *wink wink* My suggestion is, if you choose Willow, WHICH I DO HIGHLY RECOMMEND, pay upfront in cash. Do not mess with their finance team. Not because you won't win, but because you'll be fighting a long time and that's the last thing any family or new mother needs postpartum. ***side note, all the first time moms upset about being sent home... that's totally normal to have a long birth. Your body has literally never had a baby before. With my first baby, I was sent home twice during my 19 hour labor. Healthy 9 pounder was born at 41 weeks and 6 days. STOP. BLAMING. YOUR. MIDWIFE!!!

So, about 10 weeks before I was due I started the search for another doula and came across both Lora, and Chelsea, individually. I contacted them and they let me know they had recently teamed up and were available. We had a zoom call with them and my husband and I decided to book them for our August birth. Chelsea & Lora came for a home visit in June, so we could meet them and discuss initial ideas about my labor/birth/etc. They both brought their individual strengths and so much knowledge. They then came back a few weeks before I was due to discuss plans for when i went into labor, comfort measures, etc. They were both there any other time my husband and I had a question throughout the whole process as well. I had a long, long (44 hour) labor and we (mainly my husband) were in contact with Chelsea/Lora the entire time. About 22 hours in, once the pain had gotten pretty bad, Lora came to our house at 8pm. She quietly supported us and helped get through the contractions. At midnight, Chelsea swapped in so Lora could get some rest. Chelsea encouraged me to keep moving and try different things to help progress labor. When we thought it was time to go to the birth center, Chelsea came with us. When I finally ended up being admitted, Lora was the doula who ultimately joined us at the birth center- and spent over 12 hours there with us. I had mentioned during one of our previous meetings that I would love it if the doula who was present could snap some pictures during the day of labor/birth- I wasn't looking for anything too fancy or professional but just wanted some iphone pics. Lora went above and beyond, using her own camera to take lots of pictures and a video of the birth- which we haven't seen yet but are so excited for! Both Lora & Chelsea truly went above and beyond, and are a perfect complementary team. They came for a 2 week postpartum visit and it felt like having friends over to meet the baby- we cannot recommend them and their services enough & will definitely be using them for baby 2!

What about your wife asking for EMS when a call should have happened 14 mins prior? Gas lit and told it was only a minute or two. Thank GOD for EMS records! TIME IS BRAIN. Emergence isn't qualified for EMERGENCY. My family travailed the tension of life and death in our story, and while satisfactory, and normal physiologic experiences are great, hearing how licensed medical professionals handle dire, forlorn clinical scenarios is of utmost importance in precisely displaying a facet of skill and level of care that literally cannot be displayed at any other time, other than conjuncture. Making my testimony especially meaningful. If you had no complications, you can't speak to the things I can, because quite frankly both my baby and wife faced life endangering encounters and the assumed ability to manage such was sorely lacking, from not 1 but 2 tenured midwives who attended my wife's delivery. You could statistically bank on the likelihood of a normal birth and be fine BUT when it's not fine, it is catastrophically and preventably not fine. Survival bias is real. CPM midwife Caitlyn has 13 violations with the state regarding this birth, and may have license revocation later this year. Look up AZ care check to follow objective details. CNM owner Nancy has an open investigation with her board as well. She has spoken publicly on other midwives "deficiencies" and failure to uphold scope and statutes - and ironically has violated the same statutes she condemned others for while functioning like she wasn't also accountable to Arizona rules and regulations. Do your wife and your baby a LIFE SAVING favor and get someone who knows how to use a FREAKING AMBU-BAG.

I ended up with Hazel Kelly, and at first I really liked her... until she insinuated my husband might be cheating based on what my swab showed. For the record, the "concerning" result was normal bacteria that lives in your tract, and in my case it had simply overgrown. That comment was unnecessary, unprofessional, and completely wrong. I was put on antibiotics that weren't even susceptible for over a month. A full month. It took me going to a Uro/Gyn to finally get proper care. And don't even get me started on obtaining my medical records. It was a mess. I felt judged every time I called for an update, and the front office made the whole thing feel like a burden. They charged me $35 for records I could have printed myself if the patient portal actually had all of my results. Looking back, every single time I went in with UTI symptoms, I should have been treated. I wasn't. Not once. Fast forward to the end of 2025 and I've been infection free since January because I finally found a doctor who actually listens and knows what they're doing. I will never go back here again. As someone who works in the medical field myself, I cannot imagine employing a doctor who is so apparently burnt out and bitter. I LOVED the midwife that did IUD insertion, and felt very blessed that the MA's were always so kind and empathetic. I feel sad they have to deal with the doctor's attitude. A lot of people complain about the office not answering phone calls, but I have had really good luck getting in touch with receptionists and being assisted by staff, so I have to give them a higher rating for that.
