This mall has a few good shops, and looks pretty nice inside, but overall is underwhelming. It's very empty-feeling and kind of has a weird vibe. There aren't a lot of good clothing stores that you would normally see at a mall, and even the food court is tiny. We are traveling and this mall was near our hotel - came to get a better pair or tennis shoes for relief. Got a good deal on some New Balances at Shoe Carnival. We enjoyed walking around and seeing the variety of stores here, also appreciated their diverse food court options - we weren't ready to eat but the korean bbq spot was looking fire! read more

The mall has a nice selection of stores, a good amount of parking and clean bathrooms.

What a dystopian hellscape this place is shaping up to be. I remember when malls were cool. Malls haven't been cool since the death of physical media. I'd argue that malls existed because we wanted to go in and flip through CDs or records, and stores around those shops happened to be a bonus. What was once a nice, normal, perfectly average mall is now a sad, decaying piece of what-once-was. Probably half of the stores are shuttered. Of the stores that remain, a few are sketchy, at best. The kiosks are extremely sketchy. The food court, once decent, is now pretty bad. Even the Barnes & Noble store, which is the only reason I ever go to the mall anymore, is suffering entropy. It's time to shutter this behemoth for good. Knock it down. Build high-rise condos and apartments to help the housing crisis. The mall's purpose has been served. It is no longer of benefit to us. read more

This place seems to go more and more down hill each time I visit. Went to the bathroom and there were kids smoking weed in there. Half the stores are closed and it just isn't well kept at all. West Towne is much better. read more

Haven't been to this location for Barnes & Noble in a while, but I'll definitely be back soon. Had trouble finding a book, so I went to customer service desk where I was helped by a young gentleman named Tyler, he was super polite and friendly! We were able to find my book in record time! Not to mention but when I went to checkout a young lady named Eve was super sweet and told me all about their free rewards program! Lovely staff! read more

Went to the Mall last year when everything was normal. When I go to mail with my kid, entertainment is always my top priority. Well, this mall has kid in door playground. They also have mini cars that kids can drive it in the mall. The food is ok and affordable, the bathroom is clean. We had a great experience during our weekend shopping. read more

I've been to different stores in the East Towne Mall roughly once a week for the last two months, because I was trying to get specific brands in time for the holidays. I will not return. The mask mandate is absolutely not enforced. In a very busy mall, in the bathroom area and hallways, within each store we visited, we were the only 2 people wearing a mask. This is a nice enough mall having its origins in the consumer culture that was predominate in the latter half of the 20th century. Opened in 1971, it has been well kept and significantly updated as recently as 2003/2004. There is a rather nice food court with several standard, though not unappealing, options. The layout is like an airplane with a straight main concourse with "bent" wings branching off either side emanating from the center. It is on the smallish side though there are still more than 100 stores with a little over 800,000 square feet of retail space. The Barnes and Noble is a highlight for me. There is also Sears, Penny's, Dick's and Boston Store. There's also a sizable H&M and a Gordman's. Among the out-building facilities is a Planet Fitness. The surrounding commercial area for which this mall is a hub features almost every common American chain store imaginable. There are a plethora of dining establishments in the area as well. One of the interesting developments taking place is the addition of a Flix Brewhouse on the backside of the mall. The struggle for survival is apparent here as it is for many traditional retail outlets. While there is obvious effort to stay relevant, it is hard to imagine a long future for this mall and those of its kind. On my last visit on a Thursday night, it was striking how sparsely patronized it was. Given the rapidly evolving retail trend toward on-line buying, it is hard to imagine that this facility will not be among the eventual likely first few rounds of closures, unless there are some innovative developments to freshen its presentation and reinvent its attractiveness. read more

this mall has gone downhill fast. I only like shopping at Barnes and noble because of the condition that mall is turning into.

Wow. This mall has REALLY gone downhill in a hurry. First walking into the food court I noticed that out of 11 places that could hold dining options, only 5 places were there. Sarku Japan, Stir Fry 88, Steak Escape, Taco Bell and Kato's Cajun. My wife and I were planning on getting Steak Escape, however when I went to order I was told I could only use cash because their card reader was broken. So we opted to eat somewhere else outside of the mall. Walking around the mall I just got an uncomfortable vibe. I don't know how to explain it, but as a cop my "spidy senses" were going off. There were a lot of 16-20 year old kids roaming around hanging out and shouting back and forth in the food court. The main reason we came to the mall was to get my 5 year old daughter's ears pierced at the Piercing Pagoda. We got there and had to wait a little bit to be helped, no big deal. The ear piercing went fine, but I can tell you we will not be back to this mall until things change. On the way out of the mall we basically got followed halfway down the mall buy some guy selling Sprint wireless. He started his sales pitch by saying "I know you don't want to switch carriers...but".... it only took me telling him three times that I didn't want what he was selling. We were literally 100 feet from his booth before he got the hint. I didn't come here to get pushed around by a salesman, if I wanted that I would go hang out at a used car sales lot. read more

Typical mall. Nothing extraordinary. I stopped at the massage chair kiosk and the guys were really nice and they did a good job.

I've got beef with East Towne. Okay, it's not that bad. They have made some really nice improvements over the last few years, I'll give 'em that. Buuuut tonight they made me mad. I go to Planet Fitness, it's located here in East Towne. I like to park at the back entrance that's over between Boston Store and Sears. There are less cars, less traffic, and it's directly across from the gym. Nice! Well tonight as I was leaving the gym, the door to get back IN to the mall from the Planet Fitness corridor was locked. The mall "closes" at 9pm, but it was only 8:37. I get it if business' want to lock up a few minute early, but 23 minutes doesn't count as a few. Now, minor issue you may think.. except, if you have to make that trek around the building in the winter (or even in the summer!), in the dark, it's creepy, a little sketch, and really far! You have to walk around the whole Sears auto department, then the rest of their store, and it sucks. Anyway, the rest of the mall isn't bad. The food court updates are nice. But come on.. don't lock me out! read more

Remember when East Towne mall was nothing? A big building full of emptiness, speckled with a few pathetic stores here and there? Ten to 15 years later, and now its been completely revamped and is all dolled up with white twinkly lights, and cheesy holiday decorations. Hell, even Santa shows up there now. But guess what? You can't just walk around the mall without some dipstick wanting you to try on their lotion or straighten your hair for you!!! Isn't that exciting? It's like being harassed by a car salesperson, only these people want to let you know how ugly you are, and how they can improve you with their shit products. Do you want to try this wonderful lotion? Can I straighten your hair for you? Can I ask you a question about your skin??! Can I ruin this trip to the mall for you by refusing to leave you alone every time you walk by?!?! YES!!!! It's like getting a root canal and then asking for a do over. Because, even if you politely say no thank you, they persist, and harass, and then as you are walking away, you hear them say snide little things about you. I hate those pushy bastards. They ruin every, single trip to the mall. read more

I had some time to kill yesterday and was in the area, so I took a walk through East Towne Mall. When I lived in Stoughton as a kid, this is the mall we'd come to - often left to run around wild, and weirdly as a celebration of someone's birthday, myself included. Mall parties were where it was at for small-town pre-teens circa 1997. Anywho, the East Towne Mall of today is unrecognizable from the mall I remember as a kid. They've done a lot to renovate it and seem to be going for a more upscale vibe. There are a few holdouts from back in the day in addition to the anchor stores (Spencer's, Vanity, Bath & Body Works - who, adding to the nostalgia factor, are currently offering discontinued scents like Country Apple and Plumeria), but most of the stores are new to me. Upsides are that the mall is clean and offers ample space to navigate through; downsides are that the lighting is weirdly dim and the atmosphere almost somber. I don't find the mall all that fun to go to generally, but East Towne has a particularly downer vibe for a place that is in good condition and has nearly every storefront filled. Going is by no means a bad experience, but it also didn't really draw me in, either. read more

Not exactly an upscale mall by a long shot. Service is horrendous and it is crowded and messy, with a poor selection of low grade stores.

Is it just me or is the mall just really depressing? A lot has changed in this mall... a lot of the stores I shopped at are now gone and there aren't many restaurants in the food court. I can't really blame East Towne Mall for that but I don't have much of an interest going to the mall because of that. Mall staff is okay. I remember a security guard yelling at a child in the play area because "he was too old to play in the play area." But that was a while ago and I don't see that security guard anymore (thank goodness). I got upset with the security guard. Mainly because he had no business yelling at a child the way he did. He should've handled it with the child's parents and secondly, I didn't appreciate the tone and his approach in handling the situation. 1. You don't yell at other people's kids 2. If the parent is there, talk to the parent 3. Don't embarrass this kid in front of strangers especially if the kid is not your kid 4. If you got a problem, you don't have to yell. It's easier to just take the person aside and talk to them like normal human beings. I had to tell that security guard off. I was so annoyed. That child wasn't mine but I wasn't going to sit there and listen to this disgruntled employee belittle a kid in front of everyone. It was embarrassing. Embarrassing for the kid and the business. Anyway, the bathrooms are always a surprise, it's either really clean or really disgusting. I'm always scared to go into one of their bathrooms because I never know what I'm going to find. With a newborn, I have no choice but to go in the bathrooms and if it was just me, I would honestly hold it and avoid going to the bathrooms unless I was in Boston Store or Sears but that's not an option anymore. I don't know... I don't come here often anymore. Nothing here really is of interest to me. read more

Just your standard suburban mall. Nothing special, nothing terrible as far as store choices. Major gripe with the food court seating. It was disgusting. There's probably 50 plus tables & I couldn't find a single one that was clean on a Sunday evening. Please invest in just one attendant to take care of this, because it was not pleasant! read more

This mall used to be the one to go to. Not so much anymore. It's usually filled with kids and teenagers, cussing and swearing and basically making fools of themselves, and not showing any respect to anyone that may be there to do any actual shopping. Many of the stores don't last long, I swear one of the last few times we were there almost an entire wing was devoid of any stores. They remodeled and updated this mall a number of years ago - 11 or 12, and then it looked really nice. Now it's rather drab, and they have consistently used the same tired holiday decorations since probably the late 1970's. Another thing....those pushy little f#$ks you like to call sales people standing by kiosks in the hallways...yeah big turn off. I have a military haircut (no you can't straighten my hair...brcausr there isnt any you dumb fool!), I'm happy with my cell provider and no i dont want a hello kitty phone case. Last but not least. Your anchor stores would be appealing, except we have a member of the family that is in a power wheelchair. 90% of the aisles in those stores are clogged with crap so he can't get through. Sorry to say I won't support this mall any longer. I will be shopping from the comfort of my home. Amazon has earned my business. read more

The mall is a great place and i love to shop there, but recently the customer service is not good. A lot of the employees were kore interested in sitting on their phones then helping me or even offering help. I had a question on how much 2 Tshirts were but he completely ignored me and went on his phone after he was just done with another customer. Now them Torrid and Hot Topic girls that worked today deserve a raise. They were so polite and awesome and personality that is what i lile to see when i got to one of the stores in the mall. read more

I feel like this mall gets a bad rap.....Overall the inside looks like it has had a decent makeover, although the outside looks like it was built in the 1950's. There is a decent variety of stores like Sears, Pennys, and a significant sized food court. They have a decent variety of kids clothing stores and the stores are actually well stocked. I agree it could use a Macy's but it is so close to I-90 it makes it very convenient and has a decent number of resturants surrounding it. read more

I'm only giving it 4 stars because it's an easy and convenient place to take the kids in the winter. We being our own dinner and eat in the food court then they can play in the play area for awhile. If it wasn't for this I would give it a 3. West towne is by far a better mall. But east towne isn't the worst I've been too. I go to Happy Feet at East town mall when I need a last minute foot massage and back massage and can't get in with my regular therapist. Amy does An amazing deep muscle massage! She hits on all the pressure points and really gets the knots out! I like that you can walk in without an appointment. The mall now offers many more stores and options. Mall just finished an extensive remodel, the scary elements we saw a year ago are gone. Clean, most spaces filled again. Basic finishing touch is to reseal and restripe parking lot. Tearing down Motel 6s nearby should be done to finish this project. read more

Not too fond of this mall. It seems like they're trying to bring up the level of shops over the past few years. The amount of people loitering around not shopping at all seems fairly high. Hmm, this mall needs a facelift. They need a better food court. There always seems to be an empty spot, or I feel like that because of their boring options. The stores are awful. I do not even walk down certain area. A pedi place and a foot massage place next door to one another? I think this place could be better and could get more business if better stores were in it. I only head to this mall because they are the closest Rue 21 store. Right now the mall seems to be torn up due to some construction of the floors. Maybe they're upgrading? What I really like about this mall is that there are plenty of stores that offer plus size options all in one place (Torrid, Maurice's, Charlotte Rousse, and the department stores, of course). I don't mind making the trek across town to check out this mall every now and then. read more

I am finding it extremely unappealing to shop at East Towne Mall nowadays. There are just no good stores there. I do shop at Lane Bryant when they have sales but lately, their seasonal lines have been horrible or Bath and Body Works whenever they have Areomatherapy on sale for $5. Until then, there is no point in shopping here. There are certain wings of the mall that I hardly go down because they are just crappy shops put in to fill space. Also, the food court sucks. No good eatery places here at all. Just...nothing. It's really unfortunate because Madison doesn't have much retail stores to offer and there is a ton of potential for East Town mall if someone put the investment into it and clean up the atmosphere more. the security director is a joke. I walked in and my child happen to wonder off about 5 feet infront of me and the security director came up to me in a rather rude matter and informed me of the children policy and that I needed to keep my child on a lease. I did not know my child was a pet and gives her the right to ever say that. my question is why the hell would you hire someone like this. this mall is going down hill and it is showing with the staff that you are choosing. I have worked in security and law enforcement for 25 years and I do understand that you have policyes that need to be enforced but not in the way it was done and if any one on my team did that they would be fired in a instant. read more

East Towne mall is located right in Madison. It's a small mall and seemed quite empty (maybe because I didn't go on the weekends or Friday night). They have many good restaurants around the shopping center and also in the shopping center as well. I liked it, and I would come back again. They have a JCPenny, Zumiez, GNC and so much more. It seems like as if it's not much of a popular mall in town, but I thought it was nice as I was visiting. read more

Since posting my earlier review the East Towne Mall has undertaken a significant upgrade. As of this writing this upgrade is still underway, but it looks very positive. It remains to be seen if this will attract new stores, but it certainly is a step in the right direction. read more
