I absolutely loved visiting this shop. It's so clean, organized, and thoughtfully set up, which makes browsing such a fun experience. Everything is displayed nicely and easy to look through, with no clutter like some antique stores. The owners are super friendly and helpful, and I love that they've stated it's a greed free store, it really shows in their fair and reasonable pricing. The selection is amazing with so many unique pieces, and you can tell they truly care about creating a welcoming space. Such a cute store! Very clean, orderly. All antiques were cleaned off and organized which is not so common with antiques.

Great collection of vintage items, especially cameras. Also has glassware, holiday items, and jewelry.

This is my favorite, FAVORITE, thrift store. The owner is always down to help give deals when you're looking at buying stuff. He helps you find stuff. Wow. Just wow. If you are into mid-century and not paying a million dollars for stuff, this is your place. Glass vases for miles. Cool ashtrays. Barware. Sassy pinup pics. Tiki stuff. Not much furniture - it's mostly smaller decorative items. Everything looked to vein great shape and prices were super fair. Madison, you're lucky. read more

Retro Revolution is a well-curated shop that features gorgeous colored glass, cameras, jewelry, beer paraphernalia, kitchen goodies, and more. Unlike many antique shops, there's plenty of room to move around, and everything is clean. For this alone, they deserve five stars. What really prompted me to give them a five-point salute, though? Their attitude. As soon as I saw the sign, "You break it? Relax, it happens," I knew it was my kind of store. They've also declared their store greed-free, and it shows - one of the first things I noticed upon entering was that everything was priced appropriately and affordably. Yes, the items are collectible, but when you can actually afford to put it in your home it'll actually have a life (and maybe get some use instead of being put high on a shelf or behind glass). Fun place to shop and visit. You never know what you're going to find. On our first visit, I found what I had been seeking for some time--a Budweiser belt buckle. Yes!!! I admire their "no greed" and humane breakage policy, too. It's a smallish store but well-kept and organized. They have nice benches out front to enjoy the sun, a sandwich stop next-door, a massage shop and a coffee/tea shop right around the corner. Definitely worth a stop and supporting. This place looks like someone walked through one of those huge antique malls and picked out only the best and neatest little things to show you. I enjoy big antique malls, but I don't always want to spend all day rooting around to come out empty handed. This place eliminates "the search" because it's curated so well. The location is super easy to get to, and parking has never been a problem. The staff is friendly enough; they will greet you and let you browse, and if they see you lingering around an item they'll offer to help you out. That's fine with me, I don't need someone following me around. They have some furniture items, lots of jewelry and dishes, and some nice lighting pieces. The prices have been great. It seems like they offer a lot of specials, per their FB page. Items here tend to move quickly, though. So if you see something you like you're best off just buying it and foregoing coming back with a friend for a second opinion. I have never asked if they're willing to hold items for you. Overall, if you're looking for some neat things or a one-of-a-kind gift this a great place to stop by. read more

This place is so great! What really makes it rise above, in my eyes, are two things: First, the prices are incredibly reasonable. My biggest gripe with most retro/antiques stores is how expensive everything is. I mean, I get it, there's rare stuff, and things that take a lot of searching and curation to get and clean and maintain. But for that reason, I could never buy anything, and what good is that? Retro Revolution has a "no greed" policy that allowed me to pick up an impeccably well-kept 50s-era glass candy dish for 20 bucks, that I've seen for 60 elsewhere. And second, despite it being small, it's really well-organized. A lot of antique malls just have piles of junk, but here you can really see what it is you're looking it because it's laid out neatly and attractively. It's much more inviting. It's like deja vu all over again!! You know how every antique mall has that one stall with great mid-century stuff? You know, pristine bottles of Yoo-hoo or vintage cans of Hershey cocoa powder? There is always that one stall with a great collection of vintage cameras; one with a great selection of pinups. Of course, every antique store has lots of vintage glassware and breweriana. I enjoy digging through antique malls for these types of things so when I discovered that there was a store in Madison that has only these types of things, JT and I got in the car and headed out! It's a decently sized store with an amazing selection of well selected and displayed items. All like items are grouped together. You will find mostly small collectibles here with a smattering of furniture. Everything is clean, everything is in very good (or better) condition. Items are fairly priced and most importantly, there is NO JUNK!! Definitely road-trip worthy. It's become a regular stop for us every time we are in Madtown. read more

I wasn't sure what to expect when I walked into this place, but what I got was LOTS of eye candy!!! I had so much fun walking around and looking at all the neat stuff. The staff lets you browse to your heart's content, without any pressure, but they are there if you need any help. This store is the best place for vintage household items in Madison! They have great prices and the owner (owners?) Is very friendly and helpful. It is in a very small space, but they put out new items as soon as they have room. They also have a frequent buyer card, so ask for one! They don't do clothing as of this review, just jewelry. I always find something cute for my house, such as lamps, ashtrays, and dishes. My only lament is that it isn't bigger, then they could expand to clothing and larger furniture. That being said, they have some of the most affordable, reasonable prices I have ever seen for the types of vintage they carry. Retro Revolution is a must-stop shop! Buying second hand is a great way to recycle and conjure memories. There is no better place to shop in Madison for vintage than Retro. From glassware to furniture, lamps and art, this store is a gold mine for kooky, cool, and forgotten treasures. The glorious gems I have found decorate my home, and many Viking glass pieces were used for my retro themed wedding. A few of my favorite finds have been: a swag lamp, crazy 50's nudie glasses, and our beloved tin Big Boy. I have been hesitant to share this story, but have decided I needed to, I don't want anyone else to be in the same situation. A while ago, me and my friend both 18 year old boys were this store. I had been there once or twice before. When we decided it was time to leave, we couldn't, the what I assume to be the owner had locked us in and was blocking the door. We were trapped with no explanation, I had no idea what to do and was scared out of my mind. We just sat down on the floor and tried to figure out what to do. Many times I asked questions just to figure out why. He told us "He wasn't accusing us of anything, but he thought some rings were missing, so we couldn't leave until his son got there." I had work in 30 minutes and needed to know if I needed to call my manager and tell her I would be late. He kept on saying his son would get there where he gets there. He also mentioned something about being off his medications, so be careful on that. It is highly illegal to hold someone against their will. I have since talked to 3 policemen and a lawyer, in the future just call 911 is what they said. I really don't want this to happen to anyone else. It also feels as if me and my friend were profiled. Since antiquing is only for old people, we must be hoodlums trying to steal something. I hope this never happens to anyone ever again. I want to know, just so they can be careful. Especially since he told me he was off his medications. Please don't send any hate, I simply want people to be careful, and know that the owner might lock you in his shop. If this happens to anyone else, know that the law is on your side. Tell him to let you go or you will call the cops, the cops will help you sort this out. read more
