Madison seems to have 3 types of thrift stores. Goodwill, St Vinnies, and those run by churches…read moreand/or church ladies. This is the latter type, and they all seem to be very similar (Bethesda, Agrace, etc). Less crowds, traffic, anxiety, and clutter than Goodwill and St Vinnies, but also less selection. Check back regularly and you will find some treasures. For the most part the prices are fair. If I specifically need something, I start with Goodwill, because I have the best chance of browsing. But I dont always feel like stopping in Goodwill just to browse. Versus it can be very peaceful to stop in Boomerangs, or similar. I've probably been there a dozen times since they opened, and bought something 3 of the times. They have furniture, which not all thrift stores carry. The staff has always been helpful.

Everything's thrown into large wooden bins, so I recommend wearing some gloves, just because some items may be broken and the bins in general get dirty fast. Likewise, if you don't tolerate dust well, this is not the shop for you. Most of the stock during our visit was holiday stock from department stores (mainly Walmart) that never sold. I was able to score a cute little 50's hat and a colorful ascot style tie. If we had more room in our car I would have snatched up the full set of china I found (for only $65!) and some of the cute furniture items. I've been in good and bad parts of cities in thrift shops - I've done it all. But when I walked into Dig & Save, I almost immediately walked out (and wished I had!). I see that others enjoy it here, but it did do anything to me compared to the Goodwill Bins. Small section of clothing, no purses or shoes (that I was able to find), and then a large area for hardwares. When I came across an extremely dirty pair of ripped boxers, I decided that my time there was done and walked out.
