had the good fortune to take three trips thru psrks fly shop this summer…read more First trip in late June was timed for the salmonfly hatch and did not dissapoint, caught lots of nice fish in vatrious species, brown trout, rainbow trout, cutthroat trout and even a white fish, its still a fish and it takes a fly. The Guide, Rob, worked hard to put me on fish. Second trip also with Rob was a walk and wade trip into Yellowstone National Park. Caught lots of fish, all large cutthroat trout. Last trip was also a walk and wade in the Park with Ethan, The trip was in mid September and we faced very low water levels and had a hard time finding the fish, When we did find the fish we caught a number of very larg cutthroat trout in rapid succession until the last fish splashed its way accross the eddy we were fishing, spooking the rest of the fish down. on several cast we had multiple fish chashing the fly through the pool All of the staff were very enthusiastic, and very helpful with advice and are an excellent resource.

As a long time fisherman but first time fly fisher brian not only produced dozens of fish daily for us but the way he teaches is hands down amazing. He is extremely calm and his patience as a teacher blew me and my family away. He is constantly watching and correcting you through the day. Teaching you about the correct ways to cast, fish locations, flys to use and refining your skills. It's amazing how he can do all of this as he spent 9 hours rowing down the river in 85 degree temps. He was born and raised in Montana and has lived in Ennis for over 15 years. He has more than 10 years experience guiding folks on the river. My wife had never fished a day in her life, and I had never fly fished before. Jim was exceptionally patient with both of us for all 8 hours of our fantastic experience. We fished in late August when the fishing isn't the best, but we still caught 10 fish, and of course there were several that got away. My wife landed 6 and I got 4. Not only is the fishing fun, but the scenery is beautiful. We saw bald eagles in flight, ospreys diving for fish, and a couple of deer getting a drink on the river bank. Jimmy supplied all of the fishing gear, water, soda, and a delicious lunch. If we are ever back through these parts again, Jim will be our guide. Jim is a one man operation and does not have a web site, so just give him a call on the phone and he will get you squared away.

Went out for the day on the 18 mile trip and had a great time! Our guide, Garrett, was great and we…read morelearned a lot about the area and sights along the way. Our group had a six year old and he was so accommodating, taught him the ropes and let him guide us when the water was smooth, he really enjoyed that! We did get some excitement (and a taste of reality); we helped the other raft in our group collect some paddles after "The Boat Eater" got them. Our guides and the safety guide moved into action fast and demonstrated an amazing team effort. The river has some great spots, nothing too extreme, though our Canadian friends may say otherwise and a lot of smooth, easy areas. Lunch was good, just some easy sandwiches and snacks. I liked that wet suits, jackets, and water shoes were included, they definitely came in handy. Pictures are available for a reasonable price. Overall, would definitely recommend YRC anytime!!

Our family of 4 (parents and two 20-something's) booked an end-of-season trip to Yellowstone, and…read moreincluded an overnight rafting trip, and a horseback ride through the Flying Pig - we had a blast! Horsebackriding was fun up at Hells'-a-Roaring Ranch above Gardiner. The horses were all steady and kind, and the views were incredible. Our guide Mariette, was fun and had lots of experience and information about the area. The crew there is all friendly and helpful, and we picked a great day to do it for weather and visibility. It was walking (no trotting) only, but there was a large group, so it was understandable. The next day we embarked on our River camping trip. Jaxon from Flying Pig was our rafting guide, and incredible cook- he really knows the river and it was just the 4 of us, so we felt really spoiled having him all to ourselves. He was a wealth of knowledge about the park, the birds and the river itself. We even stopped to look for petrified wood at the inlet of a river while we ate our lunches. The overnight on the river was fun and rustic, a lovely campfire, hot showers (outdoor!), clean regular bathrooms, and large tent-cabins. The company provides cotton sleeping bag liners, but just a tip: Had i known that, i would have brought my own silk one! We played Corn-hole on the beach while Jax fired up the really amazing steak dinner. After breakfast the next morning, we had a leisurely float back, and saw quite a few eagles along the way. We really enjoyed our vacation to Yellowstone and The Flying Pig was a big part of that. Very helpful and great communication with the staff. Highly recommended.

Preston (our guide) set the bar…read morecrazy high for any future rafting trips, he was so fun and knowledgeable (he taught us all about rivers, wildlife, and other local attractions)! If we had more time we would have booked another full day trip and requested Preston just so we could hang out with him again. This experience turned us all into rafting aficionados! As an added bonus, we got to see a bald eagle take flight from a tree so that was cool too. Preston and our raft day made our entire Yellowstone Trip! You should ask your raft guide "Can pigs fly?" and see what happens! The only thing I wish I would've known (which I could've if I had called probably lol) is there is a bit of a tough walk down to get into the boats- but honestly 5 mins into the trip we forgot all about the trek because we were having such a great time. I'd recommend wearing all swim material clothes so that you dry quickly because even on a warm day the water can be chilly and the wind nippy. Having shorts/pants that aren't swim material will keep you cold and wet (dry fit doesn't work the same as swim material lol). If you don't have water shoes they have them available for you to borrow and they also had neoprene/wet suits but we didn't use them.
