As the the third largest ski resort in North America after Whistler Blackcomb and Park City, Big Sky truly is enormous in size. That is mostly good, but can be pose some minor difficulties as well. I had a great time there and will definitely be back, but first the negatives of Big Sky's size. The free parking is about 0.3 to 0.5 miles away from the Mountain Village base area. You can make this walk easier by dropping off your family or travel companions and your gear at the base area before you head back out to park your car. I suggest not waking from your car to the base area in your ski boots as I did the first day I was at Big Sky. Also renting demo skis from the shop at the base area allows you to store your skis overnight with the ski valet located in front of the main base area ski lifts. Because of the size of Big Sky's skiable area, getting around the resort can require some route planning. I suggest getting a printed trail map, even though you can get the trail map on your phone. Also, getting out of the Mountain Village base area in the morning can take time. Best thing to do is to get up early and be at the Ramcharger or Swift Current lifts when they open at 9 AM. Those will take you further out from the base area so you can use other less crowded lifts. The upsides of Big Sky's size our diversity of terrain and solitude. I would not recommend big sky as a destination for beginner skiers, it does offer a variety of terrain for intermediate skiers to terrain that would challenge very skilled skiers. Also, the size of the trail network makes for fairly uncrowded skiing experience even on weekends. If you learn how to adapt to the logistical challenges of getting around Big Sky, I think you'll have a great time there. There are a large variety of slopes to experience and the typically dry snow conditions are a delight to ski or snowboard.

An amazing experience staying at Big Sky Resort. We stayed at a condo at the Snowcrest and the accommodations were exceptional. Staff were friendly, convenient location, daily housekeeping if wanted and amazing views of the ski hills. You can't go wrong with the skiing or dining options here, as well.

Solid Ski experience here at Big Sky!! Skiing for every level of skier. Definitely more difficult mountain in areas. Vast area to cover here at Big Sky. Easy 5 Stars !

We didn't ski but I've always wanted to see this resort area and it's truly beautiful! We came in September just after Labor Day, and everything was stunning. Not a long visit but I saw enough to realize why visitors come here!

We did a ski tour from Idaho, Jackson hole and Big sky and it was our first time skiing Big sky. I have to say this mountain was by far one of my favorites!! The shuttle service is easy, getting on the lifts had hardly any wait and there was a huge wide variety of runs for all levels. The trails are groomed well and there is also plenty of ungroomed off the trail runs for the advanced adventurers. The staff were super helpful and knowledgeable! The locals definitely want this place kept under wraps, which is why I thought the "ski town" down the road was lacking. There aren't a lot of options, the dining less than desired. It was not set up like ski towns like Aspen or Jackson Hole. Nonetheless, our stay there was comfortable and the skiing was what was most memorable! Definitely recommend a visit!

Excellent place for hiking and vistas simultaneously. Took chair lift up the mountain and hiked down. First time a 3 mile and second trip 2.5 miles. Trails are well defined, separated from bike trails and good challenges. I have skied the mountain during snow season but never seen it during the summer. Tram to the very top is separate and operated only on Fri-Sun. We did this as a date day and both loved it!

My husband and I took a guided chair lift ride with Owen. Not only was he very knowledgeable about the area. He was very friendly and personable.

Awesome all season the best place you'll ever ski in chair lifts are super fast unlike any other mountain lunch is pricy thought so I do recommend you bring your own also employees are super friendly and are willing to help out with anything.

Were from Detroit, and every February, we pick out a big mountain to go shred. This year's pick was this spot. One of the most talked about Ski/Snowboarding destinations in the United States. Situated only an hour from our air bnb in Bozeman, the drive isn't bad at all. Plus the efficiency of the drop off zones are superb. Then parking is plenty, there's different zones too, so there's not a bad spot to park anywhere since there's a shuttle constantly picking up and dropping off people. Two main lifts right from the get go. One to the left side and on towards the right side. Depends on where you want to go, they usually keep it moving. The runs are well maintained although, we enjoyed most of it since we had a falling leaf queen with us. Took us at least 2 days to do all most of the runs. The scenery is really dope too. Once its almost closing time, the village comes alive with a dope DJ cranking out tunes for everyone. The party atmosphere is definitely contagious. I totally had an amazing time here. Big Sky is definitely super dope! Thank you so much for reading my review. I hope this helps with your decision making experience. Enjoy your awesome yelptastic day!!

My friends and I were staying at one of the Spanish Peaks cabins which provided full access to the Club. We were able to get delicious breakfast every morning before hitting the slopes, and were also excited to go back at the end of the day and grab some much needed drinks. Staff will help you remove your boots and will even heat your ski boots overnight! The locker rooms are also really nicely furnished. We learned while we were there that everything is only a few months old right now so we were really there in the ultimate peak condition. One of the other really cool things is that the Spanish Peaks resort is open only to guests. It has trails that connect you right into Big Sky so you can ski both resorts, but if you're staying at Spanish Peaks, the slopes there are included with your stay. Trails were wide open, freshly groomed, and it felt like we had our own private place to ski/snowboard. On Friday night there was a live band playing the bar area which was really nice. Also, I need to mention that our bartender Patrick (Murph!) was just phenomenal. He was friendly and attentive and clearly a great guy. He knows a lot about the area and gave us some good food suggestions. He also makes a mean Montana Mule. The Club was pure luxury and I would highly recommend visiting.

The staff said our reservation was canceled, which was never communicated to us, and we had no transportation to get anywhere else in the -10° weather. The manager kept repeating herself about saying it was members only (although that wasn't said on Resi), and tried to say there was a shuttle running into town, but there isn't after 5:35. There were 3-5 tables taken and plenty of tables open to seat anyone, and they wouldn't accommodate us with carry out or any food, and asked us to leave after saying that without being empathetic to any degree. How can you stay at a community and not be able to eat at the lodge? Also, they didn't allow credit cards? How is that acceptable in today's age?

For a property…read morethat caters to billionaires, it often felt like corners were cut at the expense of staff and facility standards. Equipment and amenities were frequently broken or poorly maintained--from a leaking roof and towel shortages to a malfunctioning pool and delayed rink openings. Promises made to employees--like ski days or full-club tours--were not upheld, and communication from leadership often shifted to fit the narrative. Despite working hard and receiving praise, I experienced a lack of transparency, fairness, and consistency--especially around service charges, insurance eligibility, and end-of-season scheduling. I do not recommend working for the Health and Wellness team under Serene's management. Her leadership style fostered confusion, stress, and unnecessary conflict. I hope YC leadership takes staff feedback seriously and prioritizes a more respectful, supportive work environment going forward.
