    Chicken sandwich?
    Nate C.

This was our third time coming here and I don't know what has happened over the last few months, but this was a horrible experience. The staff got our orders wrong and brought the wrong food multiple times (for our party of four). We asked for sandwiches without cream and were introduced to a whirlwind of weird sandwiches in which the kitchen staff seemed to throw in random unasked for sauces to replace the cream. We ended up just getting a piece of chicken in between two slices of bread. As cool as the decor is here, we won't be returning.

    Mini-burgers. Small but good.

My first experience here was pretty good. I had the mini-burgers and a whiskey sour both of which were really good. The place has a great selection of whisky as well, for those of us who can appreciate a good whiskey. A bit pricey overall though but you are paying for the location, and the hip urban feel.

Fried Haddock Bits and Steak Tartar appetizers were great! Great service, good beer selection and Islay Scotch too!

Gorgeous space within an old Bank Building, with great happy energy or "Craic". Nice mix of locals and tourists. 2. Nice more intimate dining on the Mezzanine. Even the group at the adjacent table seemed far away. Even with limited people watching opportunities, it was fun to look down on the main floor and on our level catch glimpses of a young date in progress. 3. Friendly and pleasant wait person. 4. Both Don and Fern enjoyed their Butternut and Ricotta Ravioli Dish and their Chocolate Brownie for Dessert. 3 of us also enjoyed the local Clockwork Stout. +/- 1. The pro-Palestinian trappings were perhaps a little too "in your face", starting with the big flag at the entrance, and proceeding to the small pin worn by the wait person. I otherwise have no issues with folks expressing their opinions. 2. Gayle's French 75 was just OK. CON 1. Gayle and I ordered the burger which we found overcooked and largely inedible. The much more tasty chips weren't enough to make up for this. 2. Gayle loved her Irish Coffee (See Picture).

The authentic Victorian setting, the Victorian mahogany fittings, the mosaic marble tiled floors and granite tabletops, the mahogany bar, capped with red Connemara marble, follows the classic Victorian architectural pattern. The staff are helpful, friendly and patient since their accent is hard to understand sometime. My 1st beer and 1st Irish food, all I can say is what a meal, just simple delish. Being here is just a wondrous experience, the place is cosy, warm and the friendly of the people. So glad I picked this place as my first of Dublin.

Tucked down Dame Court just off Dame Street, The Stag's Head is one of those rare pubs that feels genuinely historic rather than designed to look old. The building dates to the late 1800s, and the interior retains the ornate features of a classic Victorian "gin palace"--rich carved wood, stained glass, brass rails, and a warm, glowing bar that feels wonderfully preserved. We stopped in around 4:30 pm, which turned out to be a perfect time to visit. There were other patrons enjoying drinks and food, but the atmosphere was calm and relaxed rather than loud or rowdy. It felt like the kind of place where locals drop in for a quiet pint on their way home from work before the evening crowd arrives. The staff were excellent--friendly, welcoming, and attentive without being intrusive. The food was very good (we failed to take photos because we were too busy enjoying it). As a vegetarian, I was thrilled to see the Impossible burger front and center on their menu; it was deliciously prepared with guacamole on a brioche bun, and not an afterthought on the menu. My companions both chose the Irish Beef Burger, and said it was excellent. One thing to know: this is a traditional Victorian pub, so cocktails aren't really part of the program. Expect beer, wine, or spirits rather than mixed drinks. In a place like this, that actually feels exactly right. Other pubs do serve mixed drinks. Between the history, the ambience, the quality of the food, and the wonderful staff, The Stag's Head is the kind of place that makes you feel like you've experienced a real piece of Dublin.

Foley's has two floors, the downstairs area offers live music but no real food menu so we headed upstairs. The place was crowded (later learned there was an American football game in town with 30,000 fans from Georgia Tech and Florida State; in future I would avoid visiting Dublin during this time!) Foley's offers typical pub food in a casual sports bar atmosphere. My chicken tenders were nicely spiced and meaty, although the accompanying fries were kind of bland. Fish and chips were good too. Service was slow but that's to be expected on a crowded evening. We were surprised to see the check in $USD (no choice of currency offered) rather than in Euros (the coin of the realm), with a 8.75% "exchange rate markup fee" tacked on to the total. We weren't given a choice of currency as stated on the bill (see picture). I've never seen this done elsewhere, seems like a petty way to make a bit of extra money from unsuspecting tourists. We were tired and the place was crowded so we paid and left without comment. But that unwarranted currency fee didn't leave a good taste in our mouths at all.

We arrived for lunch a little after opening on a Saturday. The place filled up quickly and was full before we left. This was also our first time having a meal with the Sweet Chili sauce, which we've both had on other foods before but something about the fried food in Ireland made the sauce that much tastier! We order boneless wings and pepperoni pizza. The Red Headed cocktail was amazing - earthy and a tad sweet. The restaurant overall has a snazzy feel, the bathrooms were by far the nicest I had seen this far and the staff was friendly.

I believe he said the brewery makes beers exclusively for 12 pubs. He was so nice to give us samples of 3 beers. They were all very tasty, and I don't drink beer!
