As a fellow industry professional, I have a greater insight knowledge of proper procedures and techniques and Dena excels and exceeds all of them! She has never been more accommodating than she is during my appointments. She constantly checks in to make sure that I'm OK and comfortable and then I have no immediate needs during the service. She's definitely a person who cares about her clients and their clients experience. In this current era and volatile times of racial tension, racially charged questions should avoided. Dena has the skills and knowledge of a dermatologist and uses the best products! I always leave with the RESULTS that I hoped for and I always learn something. (Dena is not only a very experienced esthetician but an educator as well.) I went to Dena for a lash tint and curl. Dena is super sweet, friendly and made me feel very comfortable. The process took about an hour and was pretty straightforward- just close your eyes and she'll work her magic. I've finally found the perfect place in Rhode Island for my eyebrows. I can be very picky about where I choose to get my waxing and tint done, but Dena is a true professional. Her space is small and relaxed -- somewhat difficult to locate but Dena gave great directions when she called to confirm my appointment. One of the worst waxing experiences I've ever had. I mean it was painful, which was expected however it hurt more than usual, which I now know isn't always to blame the esthetician, I know an upcoming menstrel cycle could lead to that. However I had a particularly bad experience with how one esthetician in particular, Dena tried to reassure me. As I'm shaking and tearing up from how badly I'm in pain, Dena then asks me if I want to stop and I say I'd rather continue and get it over with. Dena uses this space to reassure me that she's been doing this since 1997 and has never seen anyone cry and wishes she can help and I let her know she can't do anything about it besides finish. She then asks if I've taken anything which I felt was a weird question however I answer no, I then ask her if she's worked on black women before ( which is a very valid question considering skin with melanin can require different needs, and I saw 0 representation of black clients or customers on the website) and she has the audacity to say, not say but scream at me I have OFFENDED HER. She then elevates her voice going on this emotional tangent of how she has many black customers and how she's never had any complaints and she finds my comments rude, and how offended she is. Going as far as saying I was yelling at HER and attacking her for asking such a question. Why does me asking you this offend you Dena? I'm shaking on her table in tears because I've just endured the worst wax pain of my life, and she turns it into a matter of how skilled she is and how me questioning her practice has offended her, when to begin with I had no issues with her service until this comment. I have had many facials before but Dena's was by far the best.The atmosphere is peaceful and relaxing, with soothing music playing. My facial started off with a nice warm table. The extractions were done very gently, she used hot stones during the treatment, also a foot massage.The facial was one of the most relaxing hours I had in a long time.
