I needed to get my bloodwork for my annual physical checkup. Melissa was really friendly and nice to me. I told her I hate needles and she made me very comfortable by telling me that she was going to use a baby needle and a butterfly to minimize any pain or discomfort. The procedure was easy and painless. I was very happy with it. The network of laboratories in MA and RI, offer full-service, stat/urgent testing, and most reference testing, as well as comprehensive anatomic pathology and cytology services. I fully recommend. The parking lot has plenty of spaces. On the 1st floor, there is a directory that lists the suite numbers of the businesses such as, Anchor Medical Associates, Lifespan Laboratories, Men's Health Center, and Infectious Diseases Outpatient Clinics in Rhode Island. The Lifespan Laboratories hours are Monday-Friday: 8:00am - 5:30pm and is located on the 2nd floor, Suite D. Anchor Medical Associates is my PCP so I usually go there first and then have bloodwork done at the Lifespan Laboratories right around the corner. When you walk in, you first pull a ticket number and then your number will be called by the receptionist. The receptionist will check you in and I gave her my lab requisition form. Within 5 minutes, I was called in and blood was drawn. Phlebotomist was very pleasant and process was quick and seamless. There was no bruise at the blood drawn site.

Not sure what happened, but no one was being called. After waiting 15 minutes, an elderly couple approached the counter and when the lady complained about the wait, the employee started yelling and called for security. This employee was way out of line, she started the yelling. As it was finally my turn to be waited on, I waited half an hour, someone was called before me, I told the receptionist who had made a mistake in who was to go next. This location is at 1454 South County Trail, definitely will not be returning.

I knocked and after a few minutes a window opened. I felt as though I was interrupting them. After the initial greeting, I was instruct to sit in the adjacent room. There were many chairs, but having had blood drawn many time I knew what chair I should sit in without instruction. The technician soon cam in while still chatting with the other technician who was still in the greeting area. My blood was drawn while they continue to converse with each other and certainly not paying much attention to their patient. They were even criticizing their employer referring to Lifespan as "cheap". When the drawn was down the technician removed the needle not looking at the injection site, but rather looking towards the person he was talking to. Withdrawing the needle was extremely painful. Apparently Quest put this device in so they could save $$$ not having a receptionist. Not giving a damn that many elderly people are not computer literate. I told the elderly women, I would show them how. I punched in my data and scanned my drivers license in the device. It told me my appointment was in 3 Hours!!! Despite the fact that there were only 4 of us in the office!! I told the ladies I was leaving because I wasn't going to wait 3 hours to have a blood test that normally takes 20 minutes. I went to my usual lab where I get my blood work done and usually I am in and out in 20 minutes unless they are very busy. They said they had problems with Quest and no longer do their work. I went home to make an appointment at the Quest Lab again. The number I dialed was answered by a robotic responder $$$. Whoever program this thing must have been drinking booze and smoking dope at the same time. Needless to say I spent over a half hour and was not able to secure an appointment. Get use to it folks, wait till they fully roll AI out so they can eliminate more jobs $$$. When our Government promises heaven you can expect hell.

I used to pass out during blood work and these people (usually two women) are so kind, gentle and helpful that I barely get nervous anymore. Val who recently drew blood from me had the exactly demeanor needed to keep people relaxed in a stressful atmosphere. She was so quick I hadn't finished my part of the small talk before she was bandaging me up!' They have great hours and even during Covid times, walk in or appointment based. The waiting area and lab are clean, organized and their check in process is simple and safe. You can even choose to wait in your car and get a text when you should return. If you make an appointment and miss it automatically you are charged. If you are late to an appointment you are either turned down and charged or scolded by a secretary or Dr for being late.
