Cheesecake is my favorite dessert. When COVID restrictions lifted enough for us to safely have our wedding, I pushed hard for a cheesecake as our wedding cake. After testing a lot of the cheesecakes in the area, we selected East Side Cheesecakes for their taste, attractiveness, and general awesomeness. On our wedding day, they delivered - figuratively and literally - and I'd happily recommend them to anyone wanting a premium cheesecake. There's a lot of cheesecake in Los Angeles, and the variety is pretty wild. On one side you've got New York style cheesecake, where you throw in extra cream cheese and fat for a dense, over-the-top experience. On the other side, you have Japanese style cheesecakes like Uncle Tetsu. These are light and spongy, and are sort of like a tastier angel food cake. Different cakes fall along this spectrum. Our East Side Cheesecakes were more of the Western-style - big on flavor, big on sweetness. At the same time though, they were lighter than something you might find at Porto's or The Cheesecake Factory. We got the strawberry cakes, and the acid from the fresh fruit also helped cut the fat of the cake. Together, the bold flavors and lighter than expected density pull off a "Wow" moment exquisitely. The cheesecakes are beautifully done. It can be common for other cakes to get splits down the middle of them - but East Side Cheesecakes puts their effort into style as well as substance. You drop one of these in front of your guests, and they are gonna notice. My one critique is that I have no idea how to keep the strawberry cheesecake looking as good once you cut into it - the berries tend to slide around under the knife. By far the best cheesecake I have ever tasted! My eyes actually teared up after my first bite it was so good. They went above and beyond to help me get my boss a cheesecake which he loved. Haven't had a slice I didn't like. Lady bluebelle is a favorite, but the key lime is also amazing (I love key lime pie and it was spot on, perfect tartness).
