Horrible experience! Car interior is ruined due to extreme negligence. Eastside trashed a custom upholstery job. Dave Beauville rebuilt the seats and reupholstered them at his shop in Blair. The interior cost me $2300. He also installed custom carpet. The entire interior is trashed. You can hit what is left of the seat covering and clouds of dust arise. The car was even left outside for over a month. the doors and trunk were unlocked and everything was accessible. Yes, things are missing. Mechanical work is is sub-standard on an engine install to the car. The exhaust system is not right. The header is not lined upwith the exhaust pipe. The Donut gasket is angled and the exhaust is not properly aligned. I have two estimates outlining the scope of work written by the Owner himself (signed yellow 5" X 7" legal tablet copies). They didn't do what I wanted them to do. I just got one excuse after another from the owner. They were given a downpayment in 2006 and payments made through 2009; the car is still not running. This is 2010! The auto will not start, there are no brakes and they are attempting to charge storage and service fees that are illegal, (after checking with the Attorney General) in lieu of the fact that the car has not been completed and the workmanship is not acceptable. Special order battery was ruined-They left the ignition in the on position and fried the battery. It will cost $86.00 to replace. The owner would not start the car, told me to buy another battery and said he was going to charge me to start the car. I have never heard the car run in four years. There is no accurate documentation of charges and I have saved every receipt.
I saved the log of calls from Alltel and Cox, as well as documenting every promise that never materialized. Note: Remember to have someone with you when you make a business call. They can sign off on each call. Your bank shouild be able to help you with a Notary. A notarized witness, that can substantiate what was said in a conversation heard on speaker phone (mine was), in court carries a lot of weight.
Believe it or not this is the short list of what is wrong with the car.
A word to the wise: If you are over 60 call The Consumer Affairs Division at the State level and the BBB. Also call ENOA. They WILL investigate. I am currently suing the company in Small Claims Court but will most likely go to District Court before the court date, in light of the damage done.
Save yourself some heartache by hiring a reputable firm to do your work. Check with the local public record and sherriff/police departments to see if there are any claims. I did that a little too late, but now I have a wealth of information.
