A total dump of a gym after the "rebrand", which was really some Brit CEO coming in and making a mess not only of the brand, but the sense of community and vibe in the gym. let me list out what a new experience is when i go in for a workout: 1) i enter in through the sci-fi portal which always disrupts my pace. heaven forbid i run out of battery on my phone. 2) i enter through the shitty portal and no longer am greeted by a friendly employee (i used to chat up the old staff who were SO friendly). 3) now they have a giant "first aid" and "defibulator" station (which has a ladder precariously behind it about to topple over) laid side by side to the vending machine (the layout of everything is a mess). there was a really bad injury in the Ridgewood PUREGYM and apparently no employees around to access. So, this new "first aid stand" is so you, yes, you, can "help yourself" when you get busted by a shitty machine. 4) all the machines are laid out in the most bogus, non-sensible manner. The doorway to the bottom floor "mirror room" is pretty much blocked by two bikes, they have weight stations right by doorways (dont get knocked by someone!), the elevator is practially blocked by a rowing machine. 5) hardly any space for floor stretching...some girl today was jump roping and filming herself in throughway-walk area, i was afraid she was going to hit someone (me). of course no employee around to tell her to be courteous to others. 6) just a PUREMESSS. 7) they obviosuly have the boss CEO making fake accounts to leave 5 star ratings LOL (like JACK N. From "staten island", lol why would he be going to a gym in bushwick and only left one review LOL)

Gym was clean, neat and organized and there were two people working out independently in the zone. Met Coach Will that bc of his professionalism and knowledge (and maybe his dimples) made me join the gym. I truly hope the owners and staff have resolved some of the issues that I read from the previous post bc if I sense any shenanigans I'm out! Until then let's build these baby delts!

They have pretty much most equipment I want and the one they don't have I just have to find the way to get a replacement exercise by using the equipment they have which is I have no problem about it. At first I thought the atmosphere would be intimidating for a beginner like me, but nothing could be further from the truth. This gym has a true community. Everyone is welcoming and encouraging, regardless of your level of experience. As a woman, I was particularly encouraged to see how many other women train at SNS since gyms like this are often very male-dominated spaces. The athletes who train here are true inspirations! The real highlight of this gym is Coach Joe, who also owns and manages the gym as well as providing personal training services. My husband and I both work with him for personal training and customized programming. Joe primarily coaches competitive athletes, but is equally as adept at coaching "gen pop" beginners like us. He has incredibly high level and nuanced understanding of lifting technique, but is able to break it down and explain it in simple and understandable terms, even if you are brand new to the barbell. He is kind, encouraging, approachable, and fun to work with. He meets the lifter where they are and can easily identify what to prioritize so the lifter makes rapid progress but does not become overwhelmed. It is not an exaggeration to say that finding SNS and working with Joe changed my life for the better. I cannot recommend Joe's coaching and this gym enough!
