I now had my own office which I also wanted as a guest room. I needed assistance designing the office and finding a queen sofa bed that would fit in the space along with a desk and bookcases. After work one night, I searched on the internet for NYC/Westchester design firms that may be able to assist. I found that most firms wanted $2000 just to create a design for me. I am so glad I discovered Bark. I put my requirements in and found MCollection & Design through Bark. Michelle called me the next day (the MOST pleasant, friendly and responsive person ever!) and she explained that they could help me design the space for $500 and also help in the search for the sofabed, rugs, desks, bookcases etc. I would just purchase the bulk of the items from her firm. This was perfect for me because I have a very demanding job and didn't want to spend hours on my own looking for items and then purchase them and find out that what I bought didn't fit in the space-- thus wasting money. I gave Michelle my budget, my color scheme and sent her some examples of couches and desk styles that I liked. The next day I got emails of sourced items that she thought I would like! Just great response time! I liked many of the items that she found and those which I didn't, Michelle was happy to give me more choices. In addition, MCollection was able to take my floorplan and electronically show me different scenarios for the furniture layouts. The furniture was conveniently sent to my apartment and MCollection also connected me to a handyman who put my desk and bookcases together. He even hung my artwork. (I had had a difficult time finding someone who had a COI which my building requires). Furthermore, during the process, I was also assigned a designer, Shawn (also the most pleasant responsive person), who came to my apartment to check on the progress of the project. They were able to find a queen sized sofa bed that fit beautifully in the space along with the desk and bookcases I wanted. Within approximately 30 days, I had my office set up! I am so glad that Bark led me to MCollection. It saved me hours in searching for a design firm that would fit my needs. I got professionals who helped me design and source my office/guest room just the way I wanted it. The process was very collaborative and fast! Michelle, Shawn and her team at MCollection and Design are pleasant, responsible professionals, eager to assist you in your design needs. I highly recommend them for any design project you have whether big or small!

It's so nice to meet someone who takes such care with such incredible kindness. Highly impressed!

She transformed my living room, bedroom, and balcony into vibrant, elegant spaces that now feel both stylish and personal. From the start, Eva took the time to understand my vision for each room. What really sets Eva apart, though, is how seamless and stress-free she makes the process. She gave incredible individual attention, managed all the small details--ordering everything on my behalf, sending receipts, coordinating delivery--and even found contractors to help with installation. Working with Alicia, the lead designer of Broooklinteriors made my life easier and way more…read morebeautiful! I found Brooklinteriors on instagram and was originally struck by how, unlike many designers, Alicia did not adhere to a single style across all her projects, but really understood the style of each client. I checked a bunch of her references (because I was very nervous about finding someone on social media!) and they all said the same thing: you get so much more than what you're paying for when you work with Brooklinteriors. I have found that to be true a hundred times over. Alicia helped us put the finishing touches on our home renovation project--sourcing and positioning cabinet pulls, fixing lighting problems, and designing and upholstering a window seat cushion. Then we moved on the furnishings--the fun part. After creating a inspiration board, Alicia researched and presented me with many options for dining tables, couches, chairs, and more. I was struck by all the interesting, often local, and affordable companies she sourced pieces from--pillows from two sisters who are based in my neighborhood, a USA made leather ottoman with a cool table that nests on top-- she introduced me to so many brands and craftsmen that I had never heard of! She found gorgeous art and accessories made by artists that we are very happy to showcase in our home. Alicia managed the ordering, schedule, and even a couple tricky returns/refunds for everything we picked. She is meticulous and her attention to detail throughout the entire process was super-human! Throughout the project, she was respectful of our budget--never suggesting or pushing anything outrageous and often finding pieces that were priced lower than I anticipated paying. She was also very open to feedback, if a piece wasn't quite right, she wasn't married to it, and would quickly find new options for that space. The overall effect is a home that truly represents our lifestyle and aesthetic, but with more unique and interesting elements than we could have designed on our own. I'm eager to do another part of my house so Alicia can work with us again. That being said, she never really stops working on a project--she thinks of me often for little additions (like art) that we may want to add to the space and pops by whenever I have questions about what to do next. I started working with Alicia at a time when our lives were pretty chaotic--I was starting my own business and moving into a new home, among other things--it was so nice to have Alicia leading the design. She made my life SO MUCH EASIER and besides that, she's just a lovely human being to have around.

HOWEVER, if you are a thorough person and want to ensure the money you spend is spent in the right places, understand that you will be limited in terms of clarifying questions before the service starts nickel and dime-ing you, ie, "you're now going to be charged $$$ per question," etc. Now, if the designer had ensured every single detail was clear, AND included correct measurements, there would have been zero questions, right? There is zero transparency as to how many questions (not including the number of actual designs, clearly specified) you are allowed. As well, the responses of the customer service team, team members of questionable levels of maturity as they used an awful lot of !!!! in their messages, became condescending and patronizing. I had some final design questions that I compiled into a small quote request (you can get custom quotes for smaller projects), and suddenly, my designer had a "family emergency" and was no longer available. After some time, I was provided with alternative designers, selected one, and - be aware - this one had a very high hourly fee which I could pay someone local who'll actually come to my home. No, I do not need to pay that much for 3-4 simple questions to be answered. I won't be barking up this tree again, and am writing this simply to ensure anyone who uses this service in the future has a crystal-clear understanding of these limitations and markups.
