I remember as a kid, mom would always take us shopping in Rustan's Department store. Up to today, we still find ourselves shopping for select items and gifts at Rustan's. But aside from shopping, there's one thing I like going to at this iconic department store--- East Café. Most patrons recognize this Asian restaurant, tucked on the second floor, as a pit stop or a reward for a day of shopping. I casually find myself going there when I want to eat in a quiet environment and have some Asian comfort food. The ambiance is great with an airy modern-Oriental feel and you may have the occasional Tita-types who go there with their amigas to have their Ladies' lunch or merienda too. Quite amusing if you ask me!
The servers are friendly and quite attentive. Food is well-portioned as well as not too expensive. They serve sashimi and sushis and I must say that the fish is always fresh. East Beef Tenderloin is quite tasty as well as the Prawn & Lychee Curry, the very filling Stir Fried Tofu and Asparagus. For dessert, they have quite a selection of ice cream, sorbet, cakes and pastries to pair with their teas and coffees but I definitely enjoy their Suman sa Lihiya with the velvety texture of the coconut caramel sauce or latik and the refreshing strawberry sorbet!
Whether you are shopping or not, its a nice alternative to other restaurants in Glorietta. read more
