I would have been satisfied with a hot dog and fries to go, but the owner wasn't having that. He chatted with us for several minutes while our food was being prepared, gave us a sample of the chicken salad (which is really good, btw), and was very welcoming. The hot dogs are bigger than I expected, and the chili is GREAT. You don't find that kind of chili in most places. My husband got the shrimp cheesesteak and onion rings. He loved it! They asked my husband if he wanted onions, peppers, mushrooms and made sure they got it right! They have several things on the menu that I want to try, so we'll definitely be back.

Next section is where they make the food. A fly was in this area too. Maybe two flies. Ambiance is fine. Got a hot dog, fries, and 4 garlic parm wings. Fries were cold1/5. Chicken was old, dry, and tasted nothing like garlic parmesan .5/5. Didn't get the chili dog order right. Said no mustard, add onion and chili. Came out with mustard and no onion and chili. Chili was not bad though. Chili dog gets a 3.8/5. Nothing was hot. Table cloth was dirty and sticky. Whatever kool-aid drink they gave me was not bad.

Wholly Smokin' in Florence was a very good stop, especially if you're looking for barbecue with a…read morefun, casual atmosphere. I had the pulled chicken platter with lima beans and corn, plus a side of fried okra. Anjelina had the small pulled pork platter with slaw and the lima beans and corn. The food was DELICIOUS. Both the pulled chicken and pulled pork were tender, well cooked and full of flavor. The sauces were particularly good. The Kansas City style was sweet and savory, while the Carolina mustard sauce was tangy with just enough kick. Both were excellent with the barbecue. As usual, dining out for us requires a little more homework than simply deciding what sounds good. Between the two of us, we bring a tree nut allergy, Alpha-Gal syndrome, a gluten allergy and dairy sensitivity to the table -- with diabetes thrown in as the kicker, just in case ordering dinner was getting too easy. Our waiter seemed to genuinely understand the allergy issues and was confident in the restaurant's ability to accommodate them. He was friendly, helpful and made us comfortable with our choices. When you're dealing with actual food allergies, that confidence and knowledge matter. The dining room was spacious, clean and had a good casual barbecue atmosphere. There was also a live band playing while we were there, which we weren't expecting but ended up really enjoying. They were good, although the music made things a little loud. Wholly Smokin' works well for a casual date, getting together with friends or just a good everyday meal. I'd also be comfortable using it for a casual business lunch or dinner, although the live music could make conversation more difficult depending on when you visit. Good barbecue, excellent sauces, friendly service and a positive experience navigating our somewhat ridiculous collection of dietary restrictions. We'd happily eat here again.

A Florence standout worth returning to!…read more As a San Francisco Bay Area foodie, I'm always searching for restaurants that care about sourcing, seasonality and the entire dining experience. Town Hall checked those boxes for me a couple of years ago, so when work brought me back to Florence, I knew exactly where I wanted to eat. I looked at other options first, but nothing appealed to me at quite the same level. Town Hall's farm-driven, Southern-inspired menu, shareable plates and beautiful setting won me over again. And I'm happy to report: the second visit was every bit as memorable as the first. We started with the house-made cornbread and honey butter at our server's recommendation. Be warned: this stuff is dangerous. Hot, sweet and almost cake-like, with that honey butter melting into it. We promptly ordered another basket. Cocktails were equally impressive. I ordered a Sidecar, and when our server asked my cognac preference, my colleague volunteered Hennessy. Hennessy it was--and it made one spectacular Sidecar. For dinner, our server described a scallop special served over a shrimp étouffée-style preparation with microgreens. Sold. I paired that with the wedge salad because, well, I needed some roughage. The wedge came beautifully dressed with blue cheese, tomatoes, pickled red onion and bacon. The scallops were beautifully seared and tender, and the rich sauce underneath made the dish. My dining companions joined the fun with the house-made sausage, another order of the scallops, and a ribeye with French fries swapped in for the creamed corn--a little steak frites moment. Everything landed beautifully. What impressed me almost as much as the food was the service choreography. Our server was knowledgeable, personable and attentive without hovering. There was thoughtful table touching throughout the evening. Our dishes arrived together, and no plates disappeared while someone else was still eating. Those details may seem small, but polished hospitality lives in those details. We were far too full for dessert, so we called it a night--happy, well-fed and already talking about how good everything had been. Town Hall is the kind of restaurant I hope to find when traveling for work: locally driven, interesting food, strong cocktails, beautiful surroundings and service that understands hospitality. Two visits several years apart, and both delivered. If you're in Florence--or passing through South Carolina on your way toward the coast--Town Hall is worth making part of the trip. Life is too short not to eat well, sleep well, travel well and shop well. Get out there and find your next destination.

Collards are technically I think cooked with meat but didn't have super heavy flavors for those that may still eat meat. Corn bread was absolutely delicious. Snap peas were delightfully sautéed in a cast iron with almost a blackened flavor. Highly recommend rooftop!!

Our total was just over $50 and slightly higher than I would have said was a good value. The French toast was good, the cinnamon added after was a nice variation, the pictures show berries but it only comes plain. My children's eggs were a little runny, making them inedible for them cause they're picky, but I thought it was fine. My husband loved his omelet. The homes fries were the best part for sure, hot and seasoned and plentiful. The AC seems to be having some condensation issues and left water on the floor. Our server was sweet and friendly. Food was out quick as well. We also got to meet the owner and she was great. Love seeing people involved in their businesses.
