The entire crew was professional. No detail was too small. New problems found were taken care of. A1 work.

I have waited a few months before posting this review to give me some time to calm down and write…read morerationally. I am only writing this review because I hope I can save someone else all the trouble I went through. I will try to keep this as brief as possible, but I could write for days about my experience. The salesman I originally met with was wonderful. He listened to my needs, and we put together a plan that fit my home base upon my budget. The original scope of work was to fully replace my gutters, fascia, vented soffit (my house is old and lacking on vented soffits), trim boarding, front door, and to add ridge vents to my roof. They offered a decent price that was a bit on the high side, but I figured that was fair because I wouldn't be managing the project through several different contractors. I work long hours in another trade so I knew I wouldn't have time to manage everything. The problems started on the first day of work. They decided to start with the gutters, soffit and trim. The scope of work was full replacement. I was able to get off early that day and made my way home to see their progress. The contract I had signed stated they would have a construction dumpster delivered to the property for waste disposal. When I arrived at home, there was no dumpster. I was confused for a moment but decided to watch them work for a while to understand what was going on. After watching them work for 20 mins, I quickly realized they were not following the scope of work I was sold. Instead of replacing everything, they were wrapping the original materials in metal flashing. They were also tacking vented soffits overtop my original soffit (completely rendering the new vents useless). I called a full stop to all work and got the project manager on the phone. After a lot of excuses about how they only replace rotted boards and this was the scope of work I was sold, I showed them the original emails between the salesman and I that stated everything was to be fully replaced. This changed their tune quickly. I inquired about the tacking of the new soffit over my existing soffit and was told that shouldn't have occurred. Since I had photo evidence of it occurring, I asked where the breakdown in communication was. I never got a satisfactory answer. I will never know whether it was the sub-contractor they hired or the project manager who directed this. At this point, I tried to reach out to their corporate office for assistance and met radio silence for weeks. When the customer service manager did finally call, he listened to my story and said he would get back to me. They never did. No matter how many times I called back. At this point, I should have cancelled the remaining projects but working as much as I do, I hoped it would work out. The work continued. While replacing the gutters and soffit, their subcontractors used ladders without padding and my hardy board siding was severely damaged. Hardy board is difficult/impossible to repair so I was livid. After several more conversations with the project manager, they were going to provide me with a quote to replace my siding. The first quote they sent over was outrageously high. I have a tiny house and the quote was well above the average pricing in my area. Eventually they relented and sent over a more reasonable quote. Still high for my area but not outrageous so I agreed to have them replace my siding. Another mistake on my part but being a first time homeowner, I was navigating uncharted waters. They provided a list of color choices and I was told to pick which suited me best. My first two choices "weren't available" so I had to go with my third choice. Doing my own research later, I found out that my first two choices had a higher material cost and believe that is why they denied them. All told, I was ready to move forward with one instruction, "Do not damage my prized lace leaf japanese maple at the front of my home." I have raised the tree for over a decade and it was my pride and joy. I bet you can see where this is going.... I came home during the siding install and over half of my tree's canopy had been damaged or destroyed. The tree is not large and could have been easily worked around with a little care. The project manager was on site when I discovered the damage, and I was so upset that I couldn't even speak to him. Trees are my vocation so I was quick to remind him the next day that I fully understood the laws around damaging a client's trees. To their credit, he took the situation seriously and discount my work by a hefty amount to cover the costs I would need to spend on tree repair/replacement. While I appreciate the gesture, I still am out the decade I spent caring and raising the tree. This isn't half of the review but they won't let me write any more characters. TL/DR: Merritt Roofing has completely eroded my trust in their products and service. I do NOT…read morerecommend. 8-months after installation, we still don't have a roof we can trust, and they seem to be done supporting me. We did our due diligence and spoke to several roofing companies before committing to Merritt to fully replace our roof. We liked the salesperson/Project Manager, Jason (who was fairly new to the company, but being mentored by another, Bryan), and the price was in the middle of the pack (just over $10K). We even went ahead and paid extra for the "Platinum Coverage" for added piece of mind. We did everything we could think of to receive a good quality service/product. August 2025 - The installation crew did such a bad job on our roof that Merritt have since told me (as if it would put my mind at ease) that they will no longer work with that crew. That's fine for the next folks, I guess, but doesn't help us at all. I understand that they do still work with the contractors of the crew, just not those exact installers, so no guarantee that the way their other crews behave will be any better. We were also surprised to find out that Merritt contracts in installation crews, as part of what we were hoping we were paying for by going with a large, named company was a dedicated installation team. We could have hired random contractors ourselves. The edges of all of the shingles at the ends of the roofs were cut so badly that they were crescent-shaped, and the shingles underneath were exposed. There were a number of chunks taken out of the shingles by carless ladder placement. One of the crew had decided to fix part of a gutter that he had dislodged by shooting a bunch of nails into it, shooting a nail through the bottom of my gutter in the process, and causing a leaking gutter. They had also cracked the soffits (The vent underneath the edge of the roof), and it was just hanging out. They hadn't even tried to repair it. Although this has now been put back in place, it is still cracked. There were numerous other issues with the installation, but the team packed up and left without saying anything to me, and the Salesperson/PM wasn't around either. I called the Salesperson/PM when I went outside to look at the roof, and let him know that I saw some issues with the roof. He came over and agreed that it wasn't acceptable. The team was called back to address, and one of them showed up. He replaced a couple of shingles, and then tried to leave again. He made it clear we weren't happy with the edges of all of the roofs, and that they needed to address. It was scheduled that they would come out a few days later and replace all of those shingles. So immediately we went from having a new roof to a repaired roof. When the team did come to repair the roof, they were supposed to start at 8:30 am. The first person finally arrived at 10:20 am. and they starting working at around 10:40 am. Once the repairs were completed I pointed out some areas I wasn't happy with, and was put in touch with Garrett Zarecky, the Merritt "Production Manager" and was told that they would settle in the next couple of months. Garrett scheduled a date with me at the end of September to come and inspect the roof. He also made a number of comments along the lines of "If we need to replace the whole roof, we will" and that he would check inside our attic space, if he felt it necessary. September 29th 2025 - Garret game to inspect the roof, did not go inside the attic, despite saying he would. He told me something along the lines of "I wouldn't be able to see any issues from in there anyway". He also noted a lot of my concerns, but told me he was happy with how the roof looked and how it was performing. He assured me that this roof was as good as new, despite admitting that they no longer worked with the crew that installed it. Nov/December 2025 - I was cleaning the gutters, preparing for winter, and noticed that there were still a number of shingles that had scuffs and even gouges out of them. There was also the head of a nail pushing through one of the shingles at the back of the house, close to the edge. There were a numbers of other issues with the way the shingles lay and looked cosmetically. I reached out to Jason, Bryan and Garrett, the Production Manager. Jason had left the company, which seemed odd for a person who had only started there a few months before, so Bryan came out to inspect the roof. He agreed that it looked like the shingles had been damaged in some way, possibly as a defect in the shingles, and asked Garrett to inspect the roof. Garrett told me that the damage wasn't caused by a defect, but by foot traffic. The fact that there had been enough foot traffic on my roof in the days after it was installed to cause damage, seems to be another indication of how poorly it was installed. Merritt's "Repair Guy" (Garrett's words), Alonzo, came out in December and removed large areas of shingles, replacing them

The buyer walked without even discussing. I think home inspectors serve a good purpose; however, they should not scare people over items that are in debate. This particular report indicated he did not check certain items such as overflow due to the age of the house, yet everything is new. That seems lazy to me. He was correct about certain items and I do not think he tried to scare people, but, sometimes being overly cautious can really mess up the lives of others. My goal is to provide counsel to be more careful of calling out items that are not a problem. I personally had to spend a thousand dollars to provide proof there are no problems with certain items.

Things went downhill fast from there. We spent 3 weeks trying to get in touch with them just to get the estimate. After nearly a dozen phone calls with their extremely unhelpful and useless receptionist, Laura, who appears to hate her job and never followed up as promised, they finally sent an estimate. Of course the estimate was more than $2000 more than what the guy told us in person it would be when he came out. If they are this bad before they've even taken money for services, I can only imagine how bad the actual service must be.

I called and Alex picked up immediately. Very polite on the phone and booked an appointment with him in two days. Alex arrived early, did a walk around the entire house, told me there were 2 additional areas that needed repair, he walked me outside and showed me the areas. I was sort of sick about additional areas that needed to be replaced but frankly I could see it and of course I didn't want rain water entering the house so I appreciated his keen eye on my issues. I also had a xeriscape rain barrel that I wanted hooked up to a downspout. This was done Tuesday (excellent job and added height to it to allow for better flow, innovative!) and today Thursday the main work was done and in a tidy manner and it looks great. Alex went up on the roof the first visit and took numerous pictures, diagnosed nails and missing shingles. This was awesome to show my husband all the pictures (roof is about 30 feet high and peaked so we cannot access). I highly recommend Alex and Charlotte Pro Roofing and the employees he had at my home working here (he supervised the entire job). Very professional, tidy, respectful of my questions. I even had had cobwebs that were unreachable that Alex removed for me. Now it doesn't look like a haunted house. A+++++++++++
