This review is for removal and installation of a new concrete patio at my home in Laguna Niguel. Despite all the glowing reviews for Cody and his team, I did NOT have a positive experience and I would NEVER recommend them to anyone. My patio is less than a month old and it has already cracked! We purchased a deal off Angie's List and added money to the project to expand the area. The job took one week and there was Cody and one other worker. They showed up between 9:00-9:30 every day, took a 1-hour lunch and left for the day around 2:30-3:00. I think he was pissed because he couldn't get the bobcat in my backyard and he had to haul all the concrete to the front in a wheelbarrow. Cody complained about the lines at the dump to drop off the broken patio and said he took all the debris back to the dump near his house in Pomona cause it was cheaper. It took 4 days to break up and remove my 6-inch thick concrete patio. On Friday they graded the job and put the wooden forms in place. We called him that night and complained that it was too steep. Cody said the concrete truck was arriving early Saturday morning and that he would take a look at it. There was a 2 inch difference between the patio and the grass because he poured a 4-inch patio instead. Saturday morning Cody arrives at 6:30AM!!! That was the one and only time he got there early. I told him he couldn't run machinery that early. Cody made some adjustments to the grading and they started to pour the cement.That was done by a totally different company and they knew what they were doing. That is until they started to stamp the concrete. When I looked out of my bedroom window I noticed the stamping pattern was crooked. Cody's answer was that it was hard to get it straight. He never came back to remove the wooden forms even though that was in the description of work on his Angie's List deal. We had to do it and dispose of the wood ourselves. He left the job site completely and utterly dirty each night. He never covered up his tools and left them lying around along with his drink and lunch containers. He left the rebar that was removed from my old patio on my lawn the entire week. Even though I have dogs that use the backyard and they could've gotten cut on it. A totally stressful and unpleasant experience and now I have a crooked, steep (our grill rolled downhill!) and cracked patio! read more

We had Cody do quite a bit of grading and concrete for us in September 2017. He's a really nice guy, down to earth, a cat lover, and came out numerous times to talk to us; spending that much money makes me nervous so I needed reassuring that the job would run smoothly and he understood what we wanted. Don't get me wrong, his pricing was better than the others we contacted. I've attached some before and after pics. He did the floating pavers outside the sliding door (as well as by the pool equipment- and that was his suggestion) but it ties the two areas together and looks great. The grass that was outside the sliding door wasn't so bad but we wanted even lower maintenance and a super clean look. Cody added multiple drains for us, worked alongside our Electrician, put up with my talkative sister , rebuilt the crawl space concrete (from 1954), widened the driveway, and put a wavy sidewalk in front of the garage. The driveway and stairs are a huge change and look amazing. Cody was a bit "off" on his lead time but we weren't in a hurry, and with the trucks and equipment I saw, I'm sure he has to run much larger projects than mine. I would totally recommend using Cody and his company. read more

I contacted Earthworks Grading because I needed a trench dug to excavate my 65 year old sewer line coming from the front of my house to the sidewalk. From the initial meeting with Corey to having Kody and Freddy actually do the work, I have to say it was a positive experience. Kody & Freddy showed up to the job exactly on time and were diligent in their work. Kody is a very down to earth, personable guy and it was a pleasure dealing with him. They did the work according to my specifications, and even uprooted a banana tree and palm tree I was trying to get rid of for awhile, no extra charge. Cody did a great job at my house. I had removed a couple of trees and the guys that were supposed to also remove the roots and stubs, but they failed to do so; they left a mess. This review is long overdue. Cody and his crew from Earthworks grading completed my job in May 2017. Cody and his crew removed an in-ground spa, the surrounding deck and the spa filter/heater/electrical. He graded and compacted the area, installed a drain, new electrical and poured a concrete slab. Cody came out and gave me a fair estimate, completed the job in a timely manner and paid close attention to the small details. Cody is the BEST. Here are the reasons why: 1. He's professional. He arrived on time, got the jobs done thoroughly and efficiently, cleaned up, was respectful of my neighbors, the noise levels, etc. (I say "jobs" because we hired him twice for two separate projects). 2. He's personable. A nicer guy you will not find. He's not only easygoing and fun to talk to, but he's just a kind person. For example, one of the times here was here, I was hoisting something heavy outside while he was working, and he took a quick break to come help me with it. 3. He's expert at what he does. Our front yards, side yard, and backyard were all a mess, and they all look great now, and drain effectively. It's just great to have no more issues with standing water by the house. 4. He is the owner, operator, and main worker for his business. He works hard at every job he takes, and takes a certain "pride of ownership" in a job well done. 5. The guys he hires to help him when needed are also professional, kind, and knowledgeable at what they do. I've liked every one of them. He also pays them well and works right alongside them--this is NOT a situation where the contractor is just standing there while the underlings do all the actual work--and I think that also engenders a genuine camaraderie and pride in the work that they're doing. 6. I really appreciated the fact that he has served our country through military service. My brother is also a vet and let me tell you, there's a lot of sacrifice involved in the service. They deserve all our support and gratitude! 7. If all this weren't enough, Cody's pricing is very fair and reasonable. So for all these reasons (and probably some more that I'm not thinking of right now as I type this), I completely and without reservation recommend Cody for any demolition or outdoor grading/drainage work.
