We hired Casper's Demolition to remove an inground spa and swimming pool in August 2022. We received 4 bids prior to beginning work; Casper's was the most competitive. There was a bit of a wait to start including our city building department which was backed up. Once underway Dylan was an absolute pleasure to work with. He devoted all his energy to making it (a messy job) as seamless as possible. He worked diligently and efficiently to complete the job in a timely manner. When we asked him how much it would be to expand the scope of work by tearing out the surrounding hardscape and concrete patio, as well as an 8' high wood fence, he quoted us a very fair price and we proceeded. It was a complex job doing the demo around the existing posts of the patio cover which we wanted to keep. When the job proved more complicated due to the extra thick reinforced slab I offered to pay extra due to the amount of debris and extra work it took. He told me that it wasn't necessary, and honored his quote. Additionally, he took care of the coordination with the city and the soils engineer. As homeowners, having never gone through this process, we appreciated his experience and taking it off our hands. We easily passed final inspection :) You cannot go wrong with Casper's Demolition! Absolutely the nicest person you'll ever meet. Also completely failed me at every level. He was to demo an in-ground spa. He showed up to punch a hole in the bottom of the spa for an inspection. He then returned 3 months later when requested (to finish the job). He did not finish the job as discussed, he simply filled the spa with dirt and then pulled the loose coping up. The beam was to be demolished down at least 6" -18" but instead was left in the ground with dirt put on top of it to hide the fact that it wasn't done. When I asked about the demo situation, Dylan said it was done and that was a direct lie to my face. I ended up paying him $3200 to fill a hole with dirt. That is complete bs. After the next crew came in to pour my deck, they couldn't pour on top of it as that would cause cracking. I then had to pay them AGAIN to do the work Dylan was supposed to do. I have called and texted multiple times over two weeks and after responding to one of my tests he never returned any more of my calls or texts and it's now more than a month later. He's had every opportunity to communicate but has completely ghosted myself, my texts and my phone calls and also all communication attempts from Kevin Dunning at Gardner Pool Outdoor Pool and Remodel. Kevin and Dylan had worked on demo projects going back 10 years and that relationship is now also burned. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT USE DYLAN FOR ANY REASON HE IS NOT TO BE TRUSTED. First off I requested three quotes from different pool companies to renovate my 10 foot deep 1960 pool in Long Beach. Two of them never called me back, the third said they were too busy. I decided to have it removed and got another 3 quotes. Dylan was the last one to come and give me a quote. At first I was concerned as his quote was about a third cheaper. I looked at Yelp reviews and decided to give him a chance. He got all the permits and came out to cut the required drainage holes. If I could give Dylan and Casper's Demolition more than 5 stars, I'd max it out. After getting several quotes to demo our old pool and reading Yelp reviews, I decided to go with Dylan. His quote included demoing our pool and the surrounding concrete. The price was about midrange between the highest and lowest quote I received. Dylan, as a person, is extremely friendly and easy to get along with. We were able to connect over several off-topic subjects and he really put my mind at ease over the size of the project. We had some hiccups along the way so the project took a little longer than expected but none of them were Dylan's fault (the city decided to resurface the asphalt in our cul-de-sac, preventing him from bringing in dirt and then the city was closed for a 4-day extended Columbus Day weekend so no inspections could take place). But barring those things, I'm confident that the work would have been done in 4-5 days. Dylan showed up to work promptly each morning and immediately got to work (when I wasn't bugging him about how he was doing and how everything was going). I was initially worried about clearance for his Bobcats to get in for the work but he had no issues getting 3 of his heavy machines in. Once all was said and done, we had an enormous backyard with a filled pool just waiting for design. Dylan knows several other disciplines that would be able to help us accomplish our vision (concrete, landscaping, etc.) for the backyard and offered to send us their contact information. I always advise getting several quotes for any big demo projects, but I can't recommend Casper's Demolition enough. I'm sure he'll come in under the competition's prices and get the job done. Dylan is my darn hero! We recently purchased a house with a pool and were assured buy our real estate agent that it just needed to be plastered. Then we found out, a. It was built in 1970 and NEVER permitted (who does that?!) and b., it had many cracks in the gunite that would require extensive work (minimum of 20K with a one year warranty and no permitting) or build a new pool - (60K). The Short: Dylan and his team are easy to work with and does quality work demoing my pool with all permits from the city. Communication is clear and open. Work was done quickly and efficiently and clean up afterwards. Price is not cheapest or most expensive, however it is very fair for the job performed. The Long: We had an old pool with cracked coping and leaking pipes. It was time to go. We can either have it fixed or demo and have a patio/bbq back yard. We chose the demo and I called a few demo companies. Some quotes are high and some a low. Dylan is somewhere in the middle but what struck out most to me is the communication and reviews I saw on Yelp. He explained what will happen and how he plan to demo the pool, which permits will be needed (included in estimate), most importantly correct estimate time frame. Most contractors say a week and end up taking a month or months on projects. Dylan is true to his word and will complete in a timely manner. My side entrance is rather small and narrow but Dylan and his crew had a small bobcat to fit the narrow space. Throughout the whole project of renovating my backyard, Dylan is the only one where I did not have a headache with. Will definitely book them again if I plan to have other demo projects. His crew used mini bobcats as to not damage the block wall for back yard entrance. His crew showed up every day until the job was completed. I also had him take out the existing patio concrete. Casper's demolition came to remove our 5ft tall shared side wall today. They did a great job. They used a bobcat and took approx 3 to 4 hours to finish. Our next door neighbor had concerns about pine trees on her side that were very close to wall, but Casper's was able to bring wall down with no issue.
