I went to the Oswego location to invest in CD, talked to the teller and she said to wait and somebody will be with me shortly ( mind you, I was the only customer) and I waited for 20 minutes and the tellers were joking among themselves and I got up and walked out! I have gotten a CD from the Farnsworth location from the teller with no problem within 5 minutes! The only reason I went here is because it is only 5 minutes from work. read more

I have had issues with this organization in the past and have other people ask me why I even bank with earthmovers received a escrow check back from my mortgage company because my wife and I paid our house off I attempted to deposit said check into our savings account both my wife and myself endorsed the check but because my wife wasn't present to give her ok they would not except the check I told them she had dementia and was not with me , they had the attitude of to bad , when resolve some other issues I have to attend with I think it's time for me to find a more friendly bank that wants to take my money read more

They are definitely horrible. I only use them because my job CU merged with them. Just to try them out I had a $4k loan I wanted to transfer to them for a lower interest rate. I have excellent credit my score is over 770..They treated me like I was getting 3 mortgages and 5 cars. They asked if I wanted to consolidate all of my cards I said no, mind you I do not have a lot of credit card debt. After I said no they denied me. My coworkers all agree that this is the worst CU on earth!!! Will be closing my checking and savings.. Chicago no locations only in the far west suburbs read more

Do not bank here. I have had so many negative encounters with all staff. This used to be a great place with friendly people, now they are just blatantly rude. This bank is the biggest joke, I had the merchant I was dealing with and the bank on the phone so the merchant told them I was doubled charged and they can stop payment. Bank said they can not do that and they can dispute it but can take them 90 days to get my money back. This credit union is the absolute worst. The branches are located in minority populated areas however Earthmover Credit Union engages in terrible discriminatory practices against minorities/small business owners. This business engages in completely invasive practices and asks for personal information and documents for credit card applications that other banks don't even ask for. one would've thought that I was applying for a house or a car. Not to mention that the bank ran my credit 2x resulting in 2 hard inquiries in under 45 days without my permission. Typically I don't write reviews however this business needs to be exposed for their unprofessional discriminatory conduct. I asked for a guide on standard operating procedures/processes as their OWN procedures were not followed for my application whatsoever. When asked if everyone is treated this way with a 700+ Credit score/under 30% utilization rate the response was that the completely ridiculous requested documents are "up to the loan officer". This is laments terms for an overzealous individual who has no business processing loan applications because they do not view applicants in a fair light. I did not take heed to the negative reviews, do not make the same mistake as I did. Take your business to a bank with a great reputation, Earthmover is not it! read more

We had done business with Earthmover for more than 10 years with no issues (auto loans, CDs, checking and savings accounts and credit cards). Like millions of Americans, my family was heavily affected by the recession of the early 2000's. I was unemployed for more than 3 years. After months of trying to negotiate with various creditors for reduced payments, lower interest rates or temporary suspension of payments, we were forced to file bankruptcy. I had a credit card with Earthmover which was part of the bankruptcy. That means I was released from it and they couldn't collect the debt (less than $1,300). I felt bad about it because I thought we had established a relationship with this place. The lawyer said the creditors would claim it as a loss, write-off the debt and get a tax break. Fast forward - The economy recovered and so did we. Now (8 years later), having steady employment and a credit score over 720 they won't extend credit unless we pay the old debt DISCHARGED under the bankruptcy. I will have to investigate but I think that may be some kind of bankruptcy discharge violation. If you want to use Earthmover because you buy into that whole they know your name, local community bank feel or think they care about you any more than the big national banks, don't fool yourself. Bankruptcy may give you a fresh start everywhere else, but NOT at Earthmover. read more

Costumer service is trash, i really needed to use my card to put gas in my car, I called the customer service hotline and nobody answered me. It kept saying my card was expired but it wasn't. So I couldn't put gas in my car and I had to leave it behind. They literally do not have 24 hour customer service. If they say they do, they don't answer when I called. I literally called several numbers to at least talk to a live representative and no luck, not even the "credit card fraud" people couldn't help me out. I should have stuck with Wells Fargo because at least they had someone to help you out all the time if their was any issues. I'm closing this bank for good. read more

I Opened an account at the Farnsworth branch, the lady that opened the account for me acted as if she did not want to be at work. She was VERY rude and was not up beat. She did not explain anything to me. I had to go to another branch to get them to explain there services. I would never go back to the Farnsworth branch. I love the North aurora and the orchard rd branch. I would of closed the account if my grandma did not convince me to have an account with earth movers. read more

I have been a member of Earth Movers credit union for over 13 years. I called and informed the visa card department that I was moving to a temporary address and that I needed my mail to come to this address, I sent an uploaded picture to them of the USPS letter showing the address changed. Earthmovers credit union continued to send my mail to my old address. I thought I lost my card, so the good thing is that they won't allow any charges to take place, however the only way to make a payment is by the automated customer service where you have to pay $10. Therefore, I send my payment through the mail. One of the representatives told me that this is my second card, and you are not going to get a new card because you have had one sent to you already. I have never received this type of horrible, insulting service. I am going to pay my card off and I wouldn't recommend anyone to use this credit union. When you employee ignorant people it identifies who your company truly is. read more

Beware those of you who are contemplating Earthmovers, go to a bank/CU that offers FREE bill pay! I did not realize that adding payees to my bill pay would constitute using it. I never paid a bill, I just added payees just in case. They claim to offer free 90 days but fail to tell you adding just the payees will trigger the 90 days if you use the service or not. This place is a nickel and dime shop. I also was charged repeatedly for paper statements after I told them I did not need the paper statements. Oh by the way, I never got the paper statements either. Nice Credit Union, huh? Four months in a row, I would call and they would re-register my account as paperless but it never occurred until the last representative said, "I will do it on my end and please do it online as well." So in essence, I guess I had to do it even though no bank teller explained that to me. They acted like they had to deactivate paper statements. Here is another little distasteful nugget. If you don't go through their website for checks, any checks you've printed from another company must be "APPROVED" by Earthmovers. What a scam! I've only had the account since October of 2018. I am going to change banks again. I'm so sick of crappy, "I don't know what I'm doing" financial institutions who give you the wrong information, or are not clear about theirs "free services". It wouldn't bother me if bill pay was charged each time you actually use it; but to be charged for the service each month when you just want to use it occasional for emergencies is ridiculous. I'm done with these swindlers. There is no deal at this credit union. Their rates of return are crappy too. My other credit union's savings rate is 1.95%! That is not for CD or high minimum amounts. It's just their regular simple savings account. Earthmovers has terrible savings rates! My other credit union has PopMoney as well and charges no fee. Now ECU charges a dollar per use. Like I said before, "nickel and dime" type of shop. It costs me more to do business here. No real free checking at this CU. read more

I have been with this company for 5 years plus and I can't wait to end my car loan! The beginning loan process is amazing until they tell you if you make all your payments on time you won't need a co-signer the next time around. The next time came and I still needed a co signer! It's now 3 years later with no missed payment history until recently, first time ever! No covid relief was offered, there is a 3rd party collection agency that calls you and does NOT state the reason they are calling or who they are calling in regards to IF they leave a voicemail. ( nobody would answer an unknown number especially if you don't owe anyone, it seemed like a car warranty telemarketing call). My co-signer was NEVER contacted at any point but of course they disagree. I never received a 10 day notice and I didn't receive a 20 day notice until after my 30 day missed payment. I finally received a email notification from an in house collection assistant Jennifer and it was already 30 days past due. I responded to her and have yet to receive an email response back. I was able to talk to her on the phone days later and all she stated was you talk to my manager already. I talked to the manager of the the in-house collection department Kelly and she told me to be happy my car wasn't reposed and that mistakes happen but there is nothing else she can do and proceeded to ask for my full loan payment and over charge me by $10. She also told me it's illegal (it's not) to report any adjustments to my credit report even for a good faith gesture. I told her that I would be switching credit unions and she disconnected the call abruptly. If you have tenure with this company it means nothing at all. If I missed a payment I understand that but the communication was little to none and I have NEVER been talked to or treated like this ever! I will be going to Navy federal or Great Lakes credit union. read more

Didn't have a good experience here. The banker Jeanette seemed so unhappy to be there and just gave me a unpleasant experience. She was so quit and didn't talk much when I would. She had no facial expression. She didn't greet me and when I left she didn't say " thank you or have a nice day " it was such a weird experience for me. read more

I have banked with Earthmover for many years. However, compared to my other bankers they have the least supply of communication in regards to information given to you about transactions on your account. I disputed a charge back in November of 2018. They refunded me for this after I provided the proof of error from the hotel I stayed at in DR. They took back the refund in June of 2019 because they received false information from the hotel in regards to my stay. They failed to confirm with me the allegations and provided no confirmed communication that they were not going to refund me for the charge. read more

I don't want to start off this post so negative. So I will say this is positively the worst bank to ever deal with. I have had two fraud cases on my account (opened in 2013) because and I was aware of the first one and got a new card. The second time they cancelled my card without my knowledge and every time I used the card (at different places), it said declined. I've tried closing the account with them but they said how I have good credit and need to keep the accounts open to keep my good credit! ( I got sucked into that one) So enough is enough and I am closing my account. Please beware of this bank. read more

Love them! Refinanced from Huntington national bank to Earthmover to get a lower interest rate on a truck loan. Earthmover came highly recommended from a friend who has been using them for years. I was blown away by their customer service, particularly Katie Shores, Oswego, IL. I didn't even think customer service like this existed anymore. She went above and beyond to help with something Huntington screwed up to help me recover money from a check Huntington should not have cashed. She also processed the refi extremely quickly, efficiently, and graciously, and saved me a lot of money with a lower interest rate. Thank you! read more
