When I asked this guy about what he was doing he explained to me that he had been doing Tai Chi for many years and it helped with various body aches and his over health and well being. It was then I decided that this might be good for me and looked up classes in my area. I came across Lisa Russell Healing Arts and decided to enroll in her Tai Chi class. The class is offered in a room at the Pearl River United Methodist Church and is one hour in length. Lisa is a wonderful instructor with a calming presence and encourages each student to work at their own pace. Lisa explains the philosophy behind Tai Chi and how it will benefit each individual. Today (6/17) was my first class and it will definitely not be my last. There were 10 students in today's class which were apparently the same age as me. Some first timers and the rest more experienced. Today's class is every Monday at 9:30am but there are others on different weekdays at other locations and at other times. Low impact and high reward. I know many of the martial arts schools in Sullivan County and I have frankly never met a teacher like the man who runs this one. Excellent school of Martial Arts. The teacher, Mr. Belsito, is clearly invested in his students and in particular those younglings who come to his school with issues which cause them to be distracted or not do well in school, and those who are bullied. Mr. Donald E. Belsito Sr. does NOT teach kids to be aggressive, rather he teaches them the wisdom to walk away from a battle when they can, and also the wisdom to know how to defend themselves when they must. I wish he would teach his courses in the schools here in the local Sullivan County districts. In the spring of last year I brought him my youngling who was getting into fights at school, not doing well in his studies, significant aggression issues due to being bullied and a haphazardous self image. It is now November and this kid has made a 180* turnaround in every aspect of his life. It is almost surreal how the constancy of Mr. Belsito's martial arts instructor tutelage, his patience, his attention to detail and abhorrence of sloppy work, has been a major factor in my boy's life. He has made Student of the Month this year; he brings home no less than a 90 in his grades; his teachers are ecstatic at his new enthusiasm in class, his focus, his quest to actually learn, and his attention to detail. I refuse to believe it was only coincidence that the turnaround occurred as he became more intensely involved with his martial arts classes. I highly recommend the Catskill Martial Arts Academy for teeny kids, mid-sized kids, older kids, teens, and adults.

Ever since I had children (19 years ago), my back & hip have had that annoying feeling when I do activities, sit or lie. In the past year, they got worse & worse, to where I felt like a large medicine ball was sitting on my legs. I had pain when I was sleeping, so I tossed & turned all night. When I walked I looked like a 95 year old woman, and didn't enjoy walking any more. When I was sitting, or lying down, I took me 1-2 minutes to get up, knowing there was going to be pain. I ended up taking Advil every day. Since Sue, at Elm Tree has helped my children numerous times, who are track & field athletes, I finally decided to go to her for myself. I didn't think she could do for me what she did for my son & daughter. As I said before...Wizard!! She worked on me for an hour, using hands-on manipulation. She explained everything she was doing. She explained what was out of place and the pain it caused. She told me to move my leg 'this' way, while she pressed 'that' way. She explained that the pain started with the pubic bone (yes...the pubic bone). I thought it would be embarrassing & uncomfortable, but it was completely opposite. When Sue was done, she asked me to stand up. I was moving very slowly, waiting for the pain, but NOTHING! NO PAIN! I walked across the room, painless. Not only was the medicine ball feeling gone, but I felt 6 inches taller. The only problem is that I wanted to hug her, but couldn't, due to COVID 19. lol Thank you Sue & Elm Tree Wellness & PT!
