We asked a couple locals at a store where they like to eat and they both suggested Earl's, so we checked it out. We were there during happy hour on a holiday and we were seated right away. I ordered off the dinner menu and my partner found something on the happy hour menu. Our food came out fairly quickly and it was delicious and just what we were looking for! I had the Cajun blackened salmon with rice and swapped the vegetable for a side salad. It was so tasty! My partner had the Sesame Citrus Noodle Bowl with Ahi and a Caesar salad. We dropped in on a seemingly busy Saturday afternoon for lunch, but we're seated quickly. The restaurant is quiet large, and there is many seating options. The decor is very nice, and modern. For lunch we ordered the Vegan Hunan Kung Pao with Tofu, and the Gluten Free Hunan Kung Pao. After we ordered the food arrived quickly and we were relatively surprised as they were so busy. Sadly we soon realized that they had been so quick to arrive because the dishes were not what we had expected. Within the Hunan Kung Pao it is a stir fry of vegetables with sauce, and protein over rice. The vegetables in both of our Hunan Kung Pao were severely over cooked. We choose not to send back the orders because we didn't want to risk being late to our other plans if it took too long to remake them. Many of the vegetables felt warm but raw, in the past we have ordered this item off the menu at different locations and have never had this issue. Although this was an aesthetically pleasing location, on top of the issue with our food we felt incredibly rushed throughout our stay. Sadly it was just not the lunch we had anticipated. read more

Another place to try happy hour. Ambiance: loud, low light ambiance. The usual chain restaurant feel. We noticed a lot more patrons in this restaurant than other ones in Kamloops. Staff service: not bad. Service is average for these chain restaurants. Kitchen service: Ordered at 5:25pm and Leroy's crispy dry ribs are here by 5:30pm, tuna tostada and chicken taco came at 5:33pm, wings arrived at 5:35pm. Cleanliness: clean. Taste: 1) dry ribs - 4.5/5. Not bad flavour. 2) tuna tostada - 4/5. Too much condiments to taste the tuna's natural flavour. 3) Mon Ami Rascal Wine (white) - 3/5. Average wine. Nothing exceptional. 4) mojito (2 oz special for Sat $7) - spiked, but only lasts for 1/2 the drink, which is until the ice melts. 5) Rhinos sleeves Winter dark ale - 5/5 dark but sweet. Nice beer to have for Winter time. 6) Wings - 4/5 we got BBQ wings and it was pretty good. Portions: Not bad for the price we pay. Views: 3/5 this is for the guys. Views are OK. They are not as good as Shark club in kamloops and definitely not as good as Joey's/Cactus in Vancouver. Price: the happy hour price is not so bad. I wouldn't pay for them in full price though. I have been going here for their bunch happy hour for a couple of years now. I usually have one of the two eggs Benedict dishes. I always order medium poached. A couple of times they arrived undercooked but generally they were good. The service is always good. I went there this last weekend. The food was good. The happy hour prices have increased a bit, which is understandable given the COVID restrictions have likely increased their costs. I will say that they seemed to have done a good job of taking COVID precautions. One feels safe in there. There were not many people, everyone was spread out. Earls is typical Canadian sit down restaurant that tries to appeal to the general populous while providing a variety of different ethnic dishes and food types. This location of Earls, provides nothing surprising or special compared to other restaurants that share the same name. No matter which Earls you go to in Canada, one can normally expect decent, consistence quality food. Just like all Earls, most appetizers will run you about $10, sandwiches/burgers ~$15, and entrees ~$20-30. For some reason this location in Kamloops is almost always really busy. This Earls is not so busy that you won't get a table, but it will be typically more than 50% full at regular times, while busy evenings (i.e. Friday and Saturday) will be more than 80% full almost guaranteed. From my experiences, the service can be a little less attentive than at other locations, but nothing that is really off putting or of great concern. For this location of Earls, there is a great abundance of parking. Additionally, the Kamloops' Earls has a dining room area, bar area and a fairly large outdoor patio. In the fall months, the part of the patio becomes inclosed so as to make it a bit more comfortable warmth-wise. Overall, the Earls in Kamloops, just like Earls elsewhere gives you the typical spread of food options for a chain restaurant with a decent location and service. read more

This was a good place to take a seat for a while. Sports on the many TVs in the restaurant, Calm lighting, and classy decor. Go in for Cesar Sunday. They give you a stick of jerky with your drink, It's awesome. The waitresses were nice and easy to talk to. In Kamloops its hard to a place to sit down for a drink and not feel like your not in a old person hangout spot, the pubs in town haven't been modernized since they opened many years ago, and the crowd in other restaurants is boring and lacking energy. Earls at least has an exciting atmosphere. The food at Earls is also very consistent, I've been more times than I'd like to admit, and it's always hit the mark for Earls quality. Some dishes I'd recommend: Jerra Chicken Curry - large portion, great spice, lots of onions, Chicken Ceaser Salad - the dressing is amazing, lettuce is always fresh and crunchy, I recommend the garlic chicken over the Cajun chicken. Hunan Kung Poa - a classic earls dish, lots of veggies, the option to add up to 10 chili peppers really allows anyone to decide how spicy they want the dish to be The staff is usually on point; fun, energetic, in a good mood. The wait time to get a table can be quite long on a Friday and Saturday night, but they provide food and beverages at the entrance to make the wait easier. Lastly, a lot of people find it easy to find fault in Earls Kamloops, but in a city where the restaurant scene is lacking, it's nice to have a place to drink, eat some good food and enjoy a lively atmosphere. Before going to this Earls I had heard rumours that the food and service here were below average. I am pleased to say that this was not the case with my experience. This Earls is at the same level as most other locations I have been to. The most frequent complaints I've heard about this Earls are about the service. This was absolutely not a problem for my group. Our server was attentive and helpful when it came to making decisions about our meals. He was great at his job. As for the food, everything was as you'd expect from a chain restaurant: predictable menus without anything particularly noteworthy or exciting. I had the Mediterranean pasta which was spicier than I expected (a good thing). We also shared the Japanese Bento box which is a great starter for a group of four. No one in my group had any complaints about the food. Overall, my experience here was positive and I would definitely consider this Earls for a group outing again in the future. read more

My addition to the quote: "It was Saturday, our Anniversary, and I had time to kill....". Just imagine. I did have time to kill, and it was our Anniversary. 39 years in fact. We were camping nearby in Shuswap Provincial Park and felt like a day trip to Kamloops. The missus wanted to do some shopping and I was planning to go to Starbucks, near Columbia Place Shopping Centre, to wait. Little did I know it was closed sometime in the intervening year or so since I left. With few choices to pick from I belaboured for hours (ok, minutes) before finally deciding to go into Earls Kitchen + Bar, adjacent to the mall. I only had time for 1 beer, maybe 2, and didn't want to eat. We were planning to go to Mr. Mikes for dinner and I didn't want to fill up on appys etc.. You can check out that review too if you wish. I was greeted warmly at the door and I informed the hostess I'd only be having a beer. "Of course, that's not a problem" she replied. I asked for a table from which I could see outside. That was my only real condition. Call me claustrophobic, I'm not sure, I just like the light and the option to gaze out the window. The place was semi-full and was as I recall, nicely done. Quite a bit of light, with darker woods and fabrics, but perhaps ready for a refresh. Had I realized at that time that there was a patio I may have chosen to sit outside. Regardless, we found an appropriate table and I sat. My server arrived promptly and presented me with a menu. I informed him also I only wanted a beer. Again, "that's not a problem". Of their 'on tap' selection I chose a Granville Island Ale. Had I known it was an IPA I likely would have picked something else but 'tis what 'tis. The beer came quickly in a nicely chilled glass. It was tasty, for an IPA, and hit the spot. As it turned out I had time for another and this time chose the wheat ale. It was very tasty as well, hard to go wrong with Granville Island beers. As I gazed out the adjacent window I noticed a couple chairs out in the garden. In jest I asked my server if that was the 'smoking room' and she replied it was storage for excess furniture. Seemed like a poorly thought out solution in my mind, not the most appealing. I said as much to my server. I soon finished my beer and left to meet my better half. I wasn't unhappy with my visit, just nothing of note. All in all a good visit to Earls. Coles Notes on my visit to Earls Kitchen + Bar: 4 for service, N/A for food, 4.0 for drinks, 3.5 for decor/venue, 3.5 for price. Overall a 3.5. I haven't been to Earls in probably 10 years, mostly because of the awful experience I had in another city. My daughter won a gift card so my hubby, and two girls went for lunch. The decor is very modern without feeling stuffy. Not too noisy, and nice view out the windows. I was pleasantly surprised when the girls got kids menus and crayons as I have heard that Earls doesn't cater to families. They both chose hamburgers and fries - no big surprise there! I chose the sushi roll, I believe it was a spicy dynamite roll? Huge roll, nicely displayed and super delicious! Hubby had the soup, salad, and focaccia - soup was clam chowder, which he said was very good. Prices were decent as well. The best part of our meal was our wonderful waitress, Erika. Service was poor and our server Alicia didn't write down any of our order (which wouldn't have mattered) except that they then delivered the wrong drink to the table and the wrong side with our lunch. Earl's is one of those places where the food and service is pretty good and because it's a chain things should be fairly consistent at any location. I've been to Earl's in Calgary, Edmonton, Kelowna and Vancouver. Unfortunately, I can say that the food and service are not so great at the Kamloops location. I've visited this particular Earl's many times in the last 5 years and it's apparent that things have gone downhill. In fact, I have completely given up and will not bother to return to eat at the Earl's in Kamloops. The food quality is inconsistent. My husband and I tend to order the one of the same 4 items on the menu and have always been happy with our meal. The Kamloops location seems to be unable to deliver a similar quality. Not even close. The service has been mediocre to downright terrible. On one recent visit our server disappeared for over 40 minutes. The restaurant was not busy and we could see her chatting other staff up in the kitchen. Meanwhile we were left without condiments, cutlery and beverages. I spoke to the manager and he assured us that it was not normally like that and invited us to return...which we did a few weeks later and were greeted with the same poorly prepared food and non-existent service. Eating out isn't cheap. Earl's isn't exactly inexpensive...Our typical bill after food, drinks and dessert is around $75. There are many other places in town that I could get a far better meal and great service. So we will do just that and take our business elsewhere. read more

We went to Earls for my husbands birthday. Haven't been to Earls for awhile so we chose there for about 10 couples and us to enjoy dinner and drinks. Called ahead to advice there would be about 15-20. One waitress took care of our entire table, with the help of a manager once in awhile. Needless to say we had to ask the waitress to come to the table to replenish drinks etc. The manager was upset, said it was rude, ask one of our guests not to upset the waitress. Do the job you are there to do then. We spent a lot of money that evening for sub par service. Being rude by asking the server to come to our table to replenish drinks is not rude! One of the most consistent places in Kamloops. Decent friendly service. The biggest thing here is you know what you are going to get before you come through the door. One complaint is that some of the tables have really awkward configurations and usually ask to get moved to a better table. Will continue to keep it on my lunch rotation. The customer service here is phenomenal every time I'm here! I've tried a few of their dinner items (tacos and a southwest style wrap), and they were delicious. My friend and I recently had breakfast here since we are in the hunt for the best eggs Benedict in Kamloops. I had the eggs Benny over chorizo hash, and she had the traditional eggs Benny. The hollandaise sauce was delicious, although I felt it was a little too lemony. The amount of sauce they give you is great too! At other places, they never seem to give you enough hollandaise? And your last 5 bites tend to be dry because of it. The portion for price was amazing- definitely the most bang for your buck. I will say...my poached eggs had some runny whites, which really grosses me out, so I wasn't able to finish my meal because of it. Make sure to ask for your eggs to be posted medium if you don't like runny whites but still enjoy a runny yolk! read more
