Small pub, massive whisky selection -- and I mean massive. We're talking over 1,000 whiskies on the…read moreshelves, plus a solid lineup of beers on tap. It's cozy, crowded, and buzzing with life -- often standing room only and packed shoulder-to-shoulder with locals and travelers alike. If you're a whisky fan (or even just whisky-curious), do yourself a favor and try one of their Scotland whisky flights. It's like taking a mini tour of the country's whisky regions without ever leaving your barstool -- and without worrying about driving. The bartenders really know their stuff and are happy to guide you toward something you'll love. A quick heads-up: no football colors allowed, which keeps the atmosphere friendly and relaxed no matter who you support. And speaking of friendly -- the locals here are as welcoming as they come. This is exactly the kind of place where Scotland's famous pub culture shines. Prices are surprisingly reasonable too, so you can sample a few drams without feeling guilty. Whether you're a seasoned whisky nerd or just looking to experience the local vibe, this is the spot. Pull up a stool (if you can find one) and enjoy a proper Scottish night out

This may prompt you to feel like ordering a drink. You are in good hands and they can totally recommend something that you may like. Their selection is so huge they don't have a menu, you just have to ask for your label or take their recommendations. Naturally, most of the selection is Scottish whiskey, but if you somehow prefer otherwise, (say you are a local tired of Scotch... or just want to reaffirm nothing beats a Scotch?) they do offer whiskey from other countries, as well as beer and ciders, as well as gin, rum and the like. They do offer pies and other bar food, but we went after dinner and just couldn't stomach more food, tempting as they may sound.

Having lived in this area for 10 years i have driven past the ashfield countless times but never…read morebeen in it till last night. One of my friends was having a charity night for sense scotland and i admit i was a little bit dubious about being in here but i was pleasently surprised. From the outside im not going to lie its a little bit rundown and not somewhere you would want to go on a sat night out but inside it was really nice. The room we were in was a good size with its own bar and toilets and a decent sized dancefloor. I was only on soft drinks but from what my friends told me the prices were quite reasonable. The dj was included in the room hire and was really good playing a mix of old and new. The saying never judge a book by its cover certainly was true in this instance.

I went to Ashfield Bar with my friend to support a charity night that was running. Not really my…read moreusual sort of place but I'm more than happy to support a good cause! From the outside, this did not look like much at all and I have to say, I wasn't looking forward to going inside. I assumed there would be a private room used to host the event cut off from the bar but it looked like the bar has been changed into the event hall. It was a good size, a decent sized dance floor and there were tables situated around the edges. The bar was tiny and looked like it didn't offer that much of a variety. For the event, it was fine. The woman behind the bar looked like she'd rather be anywhere but here and well...with the music - I'm probably with her on that one. It just wasn't my personal cup of tea. The buffet offered Greggs sausage rolls, Indian snacks such as pakora, samosas etc and kebabs on skewers amongst other things. It was okay, but it was all freezing cold (even when we arrived it was all laid out under tin foil and looked like it had been for some time). Maybe that's just me being picky but most events I've been to that served cooked items on a buffet, they've been served warm so that was a bit of a let down. Unless I was supporting a friend I probably wouldn't return if I'm honest. Location wise, it doesn't really suit me and I think there are much better venues that would offer more. In saying that, they did let the space out for free so huge bonus points for supporting such a wonderful cause. Oh, and I won 2 raffle prizes so I'm quite chuffed with that!
