Second time doing business with S.C.Armory in the last couple years. First was a direct purchase from their selection of weapons and second was a transfer from an out of state purchase and both times their service was excellent, attentive and complete. The first time in for my purchase they made the transaction easy and explained all the necessary requirements needed to legally purchase weapons in California. Second time in for the out of state purchase Nolan helped me and he did a great job explaining every step required to complete my .45 Sig purchase. Great service with a good attitude! This place IS the go-to location in Santa Cruz county for me, hands down. Robert showed me his stock and was incredibly friendly with zero attitude. He spoke with my girlfriend and I about the best self defense firearm for us for at least an hour. This is important to us because we're not gun fanatics (yet) and right now we just need something to keep in a safe by the night stand. He was exceptionally helpful and didn't try to upsell us on anything. He also had no complaints at all about the fact that we hadn't purchased a thing throughout the entire visit and was incredibly polite the entire time. They can order guns they don't have in stock (at competitive rates, no less!) and they don't try to pressure you into buying something right NOW for fear that it might not be available next week. If there's one thing I can't stand it's salesman pressure tactics while I'm trying to make a decision involving what amounts to a boat load of money for me. None of that here, it was quite refreshing. Beyond all that Robert offered to keep an eye out for a specific used revolver for us. I will not do business with another shop unless I am forced to do so by the seller of an off-roster handgun. Santa Cruz Armory will have all of my future business. read more

I was really disappointed with the service here. The staff was so busy talking to each other and drinking there coffee that they didn't even bother helping us. There were 5 employees all on their shift and it look nearly ten minutes to get service even though we were the only ones there. This place is a joke.. find another armory if you want real service. No one was necessarily rude, but they were excessively cocky and unprofessional. read more

Even though they have very limited hours of operation, their process is seamless, they are very knowledgeable, and we were made to feel welcome and comfortable. Of the dozen or so gun shops I've been to in the past 4 or so years, this place has given me the best and friendliest experience! Their slogan is "the gun shop without the gun shop attitude" and they've held up to it. This point of view is coming from a UCSC student who's fairly familiar with guns. My family doesn't consist of any gun fanatics, but my dad has always carried during fishing/camping trips in isolated areas and was himself an occasional hunter, and a very close relative of mine (who I lived with for a few years) has been in law enforcement as long as I can remember, so I'm not a complete stranger to guns. First off, the place was a little bit hard to find, but I'll blame google maps for that. Google navigated me to a string of stores (facing Scotts Valley street), but the correct building/store was actually right behind them. The place is small, but apparently its their new location which is supposed to be an upgrade from their old one. This was my first time there and the guys were pretty welcoming. Honestly, with my looks (Asian desk jockey) I don't get that too often from gun shops. They were pretty busy when I walked in so it took about 25 minutes until they could answer any of my questions, but when my turn was up, the guy (I can't remember his name) did a great job helping me out. He asked me what I wanted to see, what kind of gun I was looking for, what was my intended purpose, etc. then he proceeded to show me all the firearms that fit my needs and whichever ones I just wanted to check out too. He even answered all my questions on CA laws. The price range on their glocks were fairly average; better than the gun shop I used to go to in my hometown. QUICK TIP: If you bring in your receipt from a shooting range within the last 30 days, they'll knock off $25 bucks on the purchase of any handgun (not sure about rifles/shotguns), so basically, you're just looking at the price of the gun +tax, no DROS fee. All in all he seemed very knowledgeable and real helpful. And the fact that there was no pressure to buy made for a very comfortable shopping experience. By the time I was almost done looking at all the firearms, a long line of customers had stacked up behind me, but still, he showed no rush in helping me out. I ended up not buying anything, because I wanted to come home and do some more research on the firearms he showed me, and also I wanted to hit up the range with rentals because I believe in "try before you buy", but now that I'm done researching and have made a few trips to the range, I'm ready for a purchase. I'll be updating this review if necessary. I forgot to add: due to the amount of time they invest in each customer, they need a better customer queue system. Maybe one of those take-a-number ticket dispenser? Because standing in line sucks, and apparently they get pretty busy since they only operate 3 days out of the week. read more

I bought a snake barrel cleaner from them, made in China, and it jammed in the barrel. Obviously defective! I brought it back for a refund but was only offered store credit since I didn't have original packaging. I found a better product for 1/4 of price online. Won't be returning to this business. read more

the first time I happened to go was one of their busiest days of the year which was 2 days before the last day to purchase a lower receiver. The service was Freaken awesome. No really, I've been to so many gun shops and I hate the feeling I get, to the point makes me feel extremely uncomfortable or I am doing something wrong or I don't belong but not this place, everyone was extremely welcoming hands down but I have to give a shot out to Nolan he truly made my experience so much better he does bring an awesome vibe to the shop so uplifting and just plain Happy. Awesome sporting store for your firearm needs. I did not feel that uncomfortable weird feeling you get when you walk into most gun stores. Even before there was a free employee someone asked how I was doing and to let them know if I needed any help. It was busy on and off during my 1 hour visit. I wish I got the 3 employees names, 2 guys and 1 girl were working. All very helpful, pleasant and professional. Before going to the store I wasn't sure if I was going to buy anything but I had been doing research online and knew in a ball park of what I wanted. There was no pressure to buy, in fact they recommend going to a range and firing what I was about to purchase before but I have enough experience with buying firearms I felt completely confident buying from on the spot. I have shot very similar pistols before and have read hundreds of reviews so was even more then confident actually. I would recommend this store out of all others in the area. Horrible service. Horrible , horrible service. I know its a gun store but basic customer service is still expected and appriciated. I walked in and waited 20 minutes or at least it seemed like 20 mins, in line behind someone who had already purchased what he had come to the store to get. They were talking about different types of guns and stuff and just having fun with eachother as if they were on break or not working a job at all. I just had a few questions and was ready to drop 2 grand but im not going back to this place. Not even a hello or wel be right with you or anything it was like I was invisible... so I just turned around and walked out. read more

What happened to this place!! I hadnt shopped here for over a year and none of the employees I worked with before are still there. Barely any inventory to selll and the guy who said he was the manager was a complete jerk to the people in the store, including another employee. Not just rude, he even insulted a potential customer who was just trying to ask questions about a gun he wanted to buy. The guy just turned around and left. I was right behind him.
