I have been an active shooter in the treasure valley for 20+ years, but unfortunately, most gun…read moreshops give me a bit of a "holier than thou" vibe anytime I try to talk to them about firearms. I give off a "left leaning vibe" and I know I'm a minority in the 2A community, however, in all the times I have come in to Idaho Arms & Ammo, I have never been given anything other than a welcoming feeling. I've had other customers talk to me about a project I've had to drop off at the gunsmith, I've had great chats with all of the guys behind the counter, and the professionalism and respect that they've shown me every time I come by is why I will continue to bring them my business any chance I can. There aren't a lot of competent gunsmiths that still operate in their own shop, and considering how little I've had to pay on the handful of things I've dropped off, I'd absolutely say they are worth checking out if you haven't yet. Outside of the gunsmith, if you are new to firearms, uncomfortable by a more intimidating retail environment that has live fire, are looking for a little more 1x1 expertise, or are simply 2A curious, I would absolutely recommend a stop by.

Allowed me to bring the magazine back free of charge if it didn't fit. Not many places allow you to do things like that. Will be back to buy more guns and gun accessories in the future.

Cliff's moved to their Fairview location about a half year ago. Their new store is laid out nicely,…read moreclean, well organized and plenty of inventory. Lots of help and knowledgeable, all armed, of course. Went in to look at .380s for the wife, but decided that for her needs a smaller caliber semi-auto was better. Confidence in use is as important as caliber. Prices were reasonable, not the cheapest, not the highest. They had many weapons I would like to add to my armory, but we'll see. Birthday is upcoming. :-) Now to train her for this particular weapon and teach her how to put her warface on, if necessary. Sometimes you don't have to shoot, if they know you mean business.

I made a trip there and picked up a product, price tag was $71.00 and there was a sale tag over that for $43.00. I wold have paid the $71.00 but the cashier said he had to ask Cliff. When Cliff came over he said "All the parts are here, the price is $100.00." I pointed out the price tag and he blamed an 80 year old guy who works for him, along with other employees for not doing their job properly. I found this curious because 3 weeks earlier I was in the shop and Cliff tried to sell me the exact same product for $71.00. I wanted to investigate what I wanted, finding nothing at a better price, is why I went back. Cliff will not have to worry about me coming back ever.

Great selection, love their clearance prices. Very helpful staff, always courteous except for one…read moreoccasion. I was going to purchase a Byrna non lethal pistol and went into their little shooting booth. Shot 3 or 4 times and asked for more to try, He said that is all he's allowed to let me try. I've spent Thousands of dollars there and 3 shots was not enough to see if I wanted to make this purchase. I just left. I'll probably go to the Boise location to purchase since he didn't really seem to care about my purchase. I'm looking at purchasing several items in the Bryan line of products.

When it was my turn, I told them my last name and indicated order-pickup. I was told the items hadn't been pulled yet. Counter person said it can sometimes take 5-6 hours, or even a few days, to get online order items pulled and ready. I asked if I could just go get the items myself from the shelves, come back, match them up against my email-received receipt, and take them with me? Nope. Can't do that. Said I would have to go home, cancel the order online, and drive back to the store. I wasn't going to do that. Asked them if they could just cancel the order here at the checkout counter? Nope, can't do that. Said they could give me the 1-800 number to call to cancel the order, which I called, from the parking-lot. Operator said she would submit the cancellation, but that it could take 2-3 business days to process. All of this was utterly obtuse and inconvenient. When getting home, I found that the website doesn't allow cancellation of an order online anyway. The final insult? When I returned home I received an email that my order was ready for pickup. So much wrong with this. Never again, Sportsman's. Long time customer who now will not spend another dime with you. The logistics were inefficient enough, but it was the we-don't-care attitude that was acute.
