I love small business, and even after multiple things that did not work out, silly me, I continued to support them. No longer! The part I had installed (that I waited almost 10 weeks) for installation, broke. I brought it back to Midstar and he pointed me to another shop as he said Midstar currently doesn't have a gunsmith. So when I asked him if "it is what it is" he said no, if I wanted to wait for him to hire a gunsmith, they would look at it. This is just one example of the many problems. Support small business, but not the ones that have horrible customer service. Very disappointing. read more

Used to be my Go-To firearms dealer. Bought, traded lots of guns here with Neil, Bill, and even previous owner. Recently, I guess due to hard times, their inventory is sparse (won't even consider any trade-ins, regardless of asking price) to say the least and their customer service attitude is indifference. I just left Mid Star arms for the last time. I felt so disrespected. I won a 9 mm carbine there in a raffle while back and I've never shot it because I have several already. I went in to see if I could simply trade it in towards something that I wanted. I would've gladly taken almost any offer and made up the balance on a new gun. The store was completely empty, and a young man walked out and said "can I help you" and proceeded to walk over to a computer and start typing at it and I asked him are you in the middle of something, are you helping me? It was so awkward...I said, I'd like to trade in a new unfired gun that I won here in a raffle and put it towards purchasing something here that I'd actually like to own. He told me "that gun was most likely donated by our vendor and we have no interest in buying it back". I said to him so that's it. We're done here? He responded back "yes". I said "would you like to check with the owner before you just dismiss me? "He said "I'm the manager and I make the decisions" His tone was so dismissive and I felt so disrespected. Given that it was a holiday week and a Friday and the store was completely empty and the selection of guns was so sparse. I can't help but think that MidStar arms isn't doing that great. I worked in Customer Service for almost 4 decades, and this manager was very dismissive and disrespectful. I completely realize it's my decision to no longer give them any of my business because there are just way too many local gun shops that treat their customers with more respect. Definitely not a strong move to make your customers feel so unimportant. I personally will make sure to tell all my friends to please bring their business elsewhere. read more

I bought my gun and Ammo before the new owner and the service was great. Not so much with the new owners. You know if you buy a pistol and don't pass the check they charge you a restocking fee even though the gun never left their store. All I can say is the new ownership sucks and I won't be back and I will make sure everyone I know knows about your restocking fee bull crap. I can see the charge if the merchandise left the store but when you maintained possession of it is total bull. I will never be back and I will make sure no one else I know comes back. read more

I purchased a firearm a week ago from mid-star and came back to ask for help and guidance with the firearm I purchased. I notified an employee, and that employee didn't seem too friendly and proceeded to get the owner involved. I admit I am a novice and just wanted them to look at the firearm to ensure it was ok. The owner was extremely rude, and balled me out in front of a lot of customers and employees. I told him that I took the firearm to another dealer to examine and that there might be something a miss, or maybe that's the way the firearm is manufactured. He proceeded to inform me while using a loud rude tone, that they were the worst dealer ever, and treated me like I was an idiot for going there. I am new to the area, so how would I know either way. Bottom line I was told that they were too busy to even take two minutes to do a visual inspection, and basically turned his back towards me to speak with one of his friends. So no support from a purchased product from this business, and I was treated beyond poorly. Good new is I found another gun dealer in Meridian that even though they were busy, went out of their way to help me, and educate me about my newly purchased firearm. Great place and normally have more stock then the large chains. Prices might be a tad high but easier to deal with and like shopping at small businesses. In and out with a new gun in under 20 minutes lead me back to another purchase. read more

I have been shopping at MidStar for about 8 yrs. The transition from Justin to the new owners was seamless. All the great staff is still there. They take their time and very knowledgeable about their products. Gunsmith Jason is the only guy who I let mount my scopes. He nails it ever time. He has done a great job on barrel threads as well. I love that they have on site gunsmithing. Their prices are very competitive on guns and accessories even cheaper many times than Boise stores. Thank you Cortney, Bill, Tyler and Neil. Great locally owned shop with a knowledgeable staff offering personal service and stands behind their work. They have reworked triggers on all of my rifles including a rather difficult older Ruger M77... all break clean and predicable. Great shop, great service and excellent workmanship.
