Book a Discovery Flight and spend an hour or more FLYING a plane with the guide of a certified pilot (we had Jacob...he was so amazing) across the beautiful landscape of North and South Carolina. Imagine the fall colors from above or flying into a sunset. At only 2000 ft, you're high enough to where there's great visibility below. A great activity to bond with a child, a friend, or even for a first date. Maybe even take a few lessons if interested. We arrived 10-15 minutes early to fill out paperwork and disclosures and he was quickly on his way. His instructor was Mark who was very cordial and my husband had nothing but good things to say about him after his flight. I was able to watch flight checks and takeoff from a distance, then took our daughter to Runway Park to play during his flight and watch their landing. As we reached altitude, the only thing we could do was soak in the stunning views of downtown, the lakes, Paris Mountain, and what life has to offer from the front seat of the plane. He mentioned it as he was putting his plane up in the hanger behind TopFlight. The mechanic got the owner who took a Quick Look and showed my friend it was the baffling behind the cylinder. He couldn't believe that could cause it but decided to try what the owner recommended. It fixed his problem! He was ecstatic. The owner didn't even charge him for the advice. He had been dealing with it for months and it was driving him crazy.

Top Flight Aviation did a pre-purchase inspection for me on a 1992 Mooney. There were minimum…read moreidentified issues. The major one was to re-install three fuel tank panels. Well $40,000 plus and 380 days later, I am finally flying the plane. The re-install of three fuel tank panels turned into a $8195 and 1/2 year tank job. Once completed it still leaked (Flowing fuel!!) but from different panels. The owner refused to help cover the cost. We was just defensive. Even though he installed the inspection panel with fuel gauge backwards where it would not work. The gauge was mysteriously broken. He did not use sealant recommended by the manufacturer. Trash was found in the fuel tank when the leaks were finally fixed. There was significant corrosion around the fuel gauge when Top Flight Aviation re-installed! And I was charged hangar rent while the work was being done on my plane!! When the plane was delivered after a $7000+ annual, we had many issues. The brakes would not work! Zero!! We found tools in areas of the plane that had work done. The gear hand crank mechanism was broken with new replacement costing $18K! The back seat belt was inside down. The initial purchase inspection and reality were tens of thousands of dollars apart!!! Based on my very very expensive experience, Top Flight Aviation is not an honorable business. Be very careful dealing with Top Flight Aviation at the Charleston Executive Airport, John Island, South Carolina!
