Kristi, who works the front desk in the mornings, is extra nice and helped us well. We stayed 3 nights and Thursday night (our last night) was definitely extremely crowded. The only reason they get 4 and not 5 starts here is because when we asked for room service, it got only partially completed and we had to ask again at night. There were also little details such as a broken light and Bluetooth speaker in the room, and the placement of the soap bottles in the shower that made the shower feel even more teeny tiny, that made this into a little less pleasant stay. But overall, I recommend considering this place for a Branson getaway!

I will start with the positives: - Staff....polite, friendly, helpful - Facilities... not bad! They had a pool, a couple hot tubs, and several fire pit areas available to reserve, down a a sleepy little creek. Ideal for kids to play, or to just relax. The place is far enough off the beaten path to be fairly peaceful and quiet. Lotsa green space to walk our dogs. Bugs didn't seem to be a problem, even being this close to woods and water. - A coffee and booze bar in the lobby. - Live music on two evenings. Now, the bad stuff: - the room. I've stayed in better Motel 6s. Not a room we wanted to hang out and relax in. The single queen room was extra small.... No space for luggage or to hang some clothes. Concrete floor that looks like it may have used to be covered but it was ripped up and replaced with a throw run that was barely bigger than the bed. The blinds didn't quite cover the window so you were guaranteed glare coming into the room, and to be greeted by the dawns early light. The room had a fridge that worked, but no coffee maker. The air conditioner worked well, but was noisy. No decor besides a couple small, random, oddly placed items on the wall. Water temperature and pressure in the shower were ok. - The free continental breakfast wasn't much. Cereal, some packaged muffins and danish that weren't very good. Some overripe bananas. Some weak coffee. - Weak wifi. Our room was in the center of the complex and we got one to two bars at best, and frequently lost the signal. We ended up having to use the hotspot on our phones. What makes it worse is that the TV also ran off the WiFi, and we lost signal. Bottom line..... if I had a better idea of what I was getting into I may have stayed elsewhere. Great surroundings but a disappointing room. Not sure we will return.

Now, I was a little hesitant to book at a motel however the Retro Motel exceeded my expectations for its category. The room was very clean, the AC blew cold, and the area felt safe. The receptionist was very kind & got us checked in very quickly. You are walking distance from all of the nearby amenities, Walmart is a 30 second car ride. The downtown area was about 8-10 mins away.

The hotel we stayed in for many years had a change of ownership, etc., and we wanted to try something new - the Lodge of the Ozarks is what landed on! We returned this weekend for a similar trip over the Fourth of July during the 250th anniversary of our founding. Given the newer layout of the road system in the area, and our places of choice to visit, we found this a great destination that was easy to reach despite the hordes of holiday traffic. The hotel is moderately priced, and the rooms are large with plenty of handicap accessible spaces, all in the area of the public spaces, and of course, plenty of options for those who need access accessible rooms. They offer a very nice breakfast with a large breakfast area and an indoor pool as part of their property. They also have several large spaces throughout the facility that are easy to use as family gathering spots to eat a meal together, etc. The property is very comfortable and we have certainly enjoyed our visits. We would plan to come back.

Once called for our table we were greeted with the friendliest hostess and shown to our table. She handed each of us our menus and opened them for us. Our waitress, Abigail, was knowledgeable and provided details on the menu items we had questions about. The Fried Pork Belly starter was a table favorite! So tender and full of flavor. The Founders Burger was cooked perfectly and had an amazing brioche bun. Shrimp and Grits had okra in it if that's not your thing. Lastly, the Braised Short Rib served in mashed potato with asparagus. This was a huge portion and the short rib was so delicious. Our table did our ice cream for dessert and it did not disappoint! Highly recommend! We visit the area often and will definitely be back to try more of the menu items. It's a must if in the Branson area and well worth the wait. This restaurant is at College of the Ozarks and students work at this farm to table establishment as well as making items that are for sale in the shops. I does however, still gets a good flow of tourist in the Winter during the Holidays. This place is known for its resorts, shows and museums. Some of its poplar shows include Reza, Awesome 80s, theTexas Tenors, Dolly Pardon's Stampede, Queens Esther, The Haygoods, the Legends in Concert, the Yakov Smirnoff Show and the Branson Murder Mystery Dinner Theater. All shows are not created equal, so please do your homework to pick the one that is best for you. Some notable museums include, Behind the Lens, the Titanic, Retro Mania, and the Toy Museum. The city does not have a shortage of fine restaurants to dine at and an outlet mall. Parking around town is pretty easy and most attractions have their own free parking lot. With this being a tourist town, you will experience slower traffic, and higher prices than usual. Also, be ware, there are a lot of time share and scammers that hide behind the guise of giving you tickets to a show. I recommend avoiding them at all cost. We visited during Thanksgiving weekend and everything was pretty much operating on a regular schedule, the town was set up for Christmas, and there were a lot of visitors. I would suggest checking each attractions website and Groupon to find deals and possibly save you a few bucks. In total, the town has over fifty theaters with a total of 60,000 theater seats, and 400 restaurants, with over 35,000 seats. At its peak, the city can be hosting over 100,000 visitors. The town itself is easy to navigate and get around. It is pretty clean and felt safe. My family and I enjoyed our time here. This town is supported heavily by year-round tourism and pretty much everyone that I encountered was friendly, greeting me with a smile and nod of the head. I really like this town. There is so much to do here. I look forward to coming back.

Labor Day getaway in the Ozarks…read more Our first time in Branson... our first time in the Great State of Missouri together. The only other time I've been to MO was when my family watched my brother graduate from boot camp at Fort Leonard Wood in the mid 80's. This past Labor Day weekend we spent some time in Branson. We stayed at the WorldMark resorts -- home away from home. I was not sure what was there to do in Branson but I was amazed at the many billboards we passed by heading into Branson. It is said to be famous for its role in the entertainment industry and it is home to nearly 50 theaters offering hundreds of shows! Whoa, whaaa?! I love shows! We had a busy itinerary but we were able to squeeze in "Legends in Concert" at the Dick Clark's American Bandstand Theater. The shows are enough to keep me entertained during this vacation but Branson also has several theme parks, three major lakes, attractions, restaurants, and shopping venues... check out the cool fountain show at Branson Landing on your next trip. With so many things to see and do in Branson it's no wonder that the area attracts so many visitors each year. Looking forward to another Ozarks getaway soon! Review #1956

The Jacuzzi room has to be the best bargain in the state. The owners are friendly and go out of their way to make you feel at home. This place is close to downtown and within walking distance to the main trolley depot. Gas station right across the street. I've stayed places in (DOWNTOWN) Eureka and couldn't get a hot shower to save my life. We filled up the in room hot tub both nights and it was glorious!!! Another positive mark: when I called, I got a live, engaged person on the other end. Not some reservation bank somewhere or some minimum wage person just biding their time to go party. Most of the hotels in Eureka charge a premium resort rate for rooms that were just mediocre at their best with no reinvestment in upkeep over the years. This was okay when travelers didn't have other options. After talking to locals and taking in the huge turnover in downtown storefronts, it is obvious the model is unsustainable. Many cities have charming downtown areas with cute, locally owned shops where you can find quality, handmade items. Every town has a farmer's market and we are all related to artists. Eureka Sprigs will have to improve customer service and experience from hotels to shops to restaurants. Those will be the places to go on like Local Flavor. And turds like Luigi's get flushed to restaurant hell where they belong.
