My husband and I were visiting St John's Herr Estate to see his 95 yr old mother. She likes to watch birds feeding outside her window at the facility if we could make that happen. Our mission was to get her something easy...a shepherd's hook, bird seed and thistle socks. Your store was being redesigned but thankfully we met the most wonderful and helpful person, Greg. He gave us his undivided attention. He was so attentive and worked with me to engineer an easy way for my 95 year old MIL to be able to easily load the hook. Greg is an asset to your store and company. Also I cannot leave without mentioning the most friendly checkout person named Shane. He was awesome as was the other young lady at the register. We cannot thank you enough for such a non stressful day trying to make my MIL happy. That is a chore believe me! Gold stars for all! read more

For a hardware store that is much smaller than a Lowes, they always have what I need, and more. I've been coming here for decades and the staff is consistently very helpful. The bad reviews of this store had to have been made by people with serious head or attitude problems. Period. This place is a "go to" old school hardware store. read more

I wish I could have left a rating less than one star. They had an ad for 50% off on Black Friday I went there and purchased some salt for my water softener expecting to get 50% off one of the bags of salt instead I got 40 cents off the $8.59 bag of salt not 50 percent , not even close. When I called to inquire about it the lady took offense and hung up on me. Do not go to Ace and expect exceptional customer service you will be surely disappointed. read more

Leave a Penny - Take a Penny? ...NO! This one is a doozy. I tried to pay with exact change, but I was a penny short...and the cashier dude would not let me take 1 penny from the "take a penny" tray! He seemed disgruntled even before I showed-up, and was unhappy I tried to use a coupon (didn't work, figured I'd just save it for next time, no biggie). Pandemic, right? ...Exact change helps, right? ...No, not here. Penny for my thoughts? Dude might've been just a bad penny. The store is good, used to be my go too, but the employees ruined it for me. For whatever reason, they take it personally when you decline help. One time I knew exactly what I needed, It was a replacement item to a vintage cabinet (I already did all the research, just forgot how many I needed) when asked if needed help, I politely declined to say I actually just forgot how many I need and I am trying to remember, thank you for asking though! Then shortly after they come back and ask again and I said "no I am actually good to go, just saw these covered in rubber and it threw me for a loop!" (trying to be funny). They explain the rubber has a better seal yada yada, I was thinking no crap. They judged me by my appearance and assume I knew nothing when in reality I can just be indecisive at times so I was contemplating. Immediately after this that I hear two employees in the next aisle, the same spot as me on the otherside snickering about how I won't let them help me and they know the wall and some other odd things and the younger was seemed to be getting worked up about it, maybe in an attempt to be funny?.. I didn't need help or want it and I don't need two employees talking crap about me. I knew what I needed and their response was, very inappropriate. Go in the back room, if you want to talk about a customer... Yesterday a guy came up to me in a kinda rude way and just said "what do you need help with" I thought well nothing actually. I was looking at some different size clamps for future reference as I do vending shows and you need clamps at times. I just said "I am actually good to go, I was just looking through that once box to see what you had for a feature reference" He seemed annoyed and just walked away. I have never come across a store that makes its customers feel like crap for researching what they need prior to going shopping. This store needs to work on its communication skills majorly. I avoid certain employees cus they take you knowing what you need as rude. Manager was very rude went there to exchange some broken craftsman tools got up to the front desk they had to call for the manager and she was just rude she had lost another customer there is no reason why she had to act the way she did she should not be in a management position she should be sweeping floors or scrubbing the dumpster read more

Selection is great, I've always found what I need. The workers is what ruin it for me and anyone I know. Older employees treat you with respect and are very helpful. The majority of the young staff just flat out sucks. They don't greet, acknowledge or even attempt to make eye contact. I thought it would be a one time thing but I was completely wrong. I just went in a few minutes ago to get three cans of paint to finish off and touch up some furniture that I have in my basement since we just moved into the house. The kid who was ringing me up didn't even bother to ask if I wanted a bag as a matter of fact I had the change in my wallet, and my wallet in my back pocket and he was holding the receipt out looking at me as if I has done something wrong and I had to tell him "no no, I'd like a bag please". Not a word was spoken from his side. What sucks is that I love the store, it's people like that who have no manners and shouldn't be working in retail to begin with that ruin the experience for the rest of us. This isn't the first time this happens either, unfortunately they don't put their names on the receipts anymore otherwise it would be on here as well. read more

I live between e m herr and lowe's. Needed ice melt, chose herr's. All types stacked in middle of floor with sign holding prices for their different types. I had to pick up the sign to read which pile was which price. I chose the 7300 brand at $15.99. Took 2 bags to register. Clerk says $67.82. I explained the sign says $15.99 per bag. He had no answer, he could of been new hire. He turned to nearby employee, we wentover to the piles to research and after awhile, she figured out the was for the 20 lb bags which were 10 ft from the sale sign, not 50lb bags I grabbed under the sign. I learned 2 lessons, the 20lb bags on sale were more expensive than the 50 lb bags I grabbed that were not on sale, 2) if you want simplicity in your shopping experience, stay at Lowe's. What a great store. They take customer service the extra mile. I was in need of parts for my shop vac that I was told by other store were not available. They found it for me. I was trilled to death. I was sure I would need to replace it. They saved me money. They have a wide selection of goods from feeds to garden statues, not your typical hardware store for sure. I was in tonight and Carol went above and beyond to help fix my kids scooter. She didn't have to do all she did to help me but she didn't even think twice about it. I love this store, the loyalty coupons and the service. When they ask if I need help, I always let them know what I'm looking for or if I'm just browsing. I used to be one of those resistant people, but hey, getting some input is very nice. I often research what I want on line, sometimes even buy it for store pick up. Most of the time I just like going for something I know I can get and then looking around. Glad to have them in the neighborhood. read more

Excellent service always ! Bought 2gal., get 1 free paint this week. Paint was not dark enough on walls so I took all 3 gals. back and the Asst. Store Maanager, Deb., took 1 hour at no extra charge to custom mix to my satisfaction. Now have wall color that I like. read more
