That sounds like it should considered a recall. I reached out to my local Ford dealership to ask about financial assistance through Ford's "Goodwill Assistance" program. My vehicle meets the program's general eligibility criteria--it's under 100,000 miles and less than seven years old. However, I was quoted $9,492.50 for the repair. Without any financial assistance, a repair of that cost is simply out of reach for many people with a median income. At just 94,000 miles and six years old, I never expected to be without a working vehicle due to a major transmission failure. It's incredibly disappointing, especially after learning how many other owners have experienced similar problems. Because of this experience, I've made the decision that my next vehicle will not be a Ford. That decision isn't one I make lightly. I grew up in a Ford family. I've owned and driven Ford vehicles my entire life because I trusted the brand and believed in the quality of its products. I had genuine brand loyalty. Another shop corrected what WHAR neglected to do. Never again am I setting my foot in this shop and don't recommend it to anyone. I guess this shop knows how to take advantage of an elderly woman. UPDATE: four months ago (May 2025), this very shop did some work on my car and requested a positive review. I said OK but am unable to post it since I reviewed before and Google won't let me do it again. The shop then sent a link to my phone and I was able to post a positive review from a different gmail address. I am buffled how WHAR even knew my another gmail that I never told them about, and what else they know about me, and how they are going to use this knowledge. IMHO this explains how many positive reviews of this shop are posted. Don't take them for granted.
