PROS: Great meat counter, loads of selection at fair prices. Beef abounds here! Picked up some nice porterhouse steaks at the unheard of price $7.99 lb. NY Strip whole loins were awesome looking at around $90 each, a great price for the size. Good selection of hot food served at fair prices. Decent breakfast burritos, warm tamales, nice selection of produce, big selection of Mexican candies and snacks and the best damn beefsteak tomato I've eaten in years. Unique bakery selections: strawberry empanadas, vibrant tres leches cakes, turtle shaped sweet breads, Mex-French inspired rolls, pancake breads, etc, all at great prices. Store was clean and festive. Built right into the neighborhood. At times, I felt like I was in another country. CONS: Out of jalapeno and cheese tamales. Busy store. Place was hopping. A bit of an odd layout with tight aisles. Crazy parking lot. Sorry but what's up with Latina's and their horrible parking skills? SUMMARY: Great store! If I lived closer I'd shop here daily. Sharp-eyed shoppers can pick-up some great values here. Stand-out areas include the Meat Department, as well as the produce and baked goods.

Review from 4 years ago Yelp deleted hundreds of my reviews. I'm a twice per month shopper for a few decades, I've added a couple dozens pictures of the meats and deli. I just don't understand why so few reviews as this is the oldest, largest Supermercado in SW D. Look at the menu of taco's and many foods made while you wait. See the signs of the whole hogs, lambs and the fish selection pictures. The always great old time friendly service along with the freshest meat at the best prices in town is well worth a visit. I've had many friends sign up on there site for a free once a month mailer that's loaded with super low price special and always a free bread or bacon just to get you in the door. I like to shop on Wednesdays as you get double points for all the great cooking items place around the store. This week I picked up a free lemon squeezer that was priced at $ 3.99. When in SW D this is a must try recession buster stop and you gotta try the Chicago style charizo @ only $ 2.19 per pound Wow what a great everyday price. See the pictures of the marinated meats, always a dozen types of chicken, beef and pork products to throw on the grill. I picked up 10 pounds of boneless marinated chicken breasts for only $ 1.69 lb for tonight's grilling pleasure.

Highly recommend Ronnie's Meats! The last few years my husband and I have been frequenting Ronnie's…read morefor various kinds of beef and pork. There are two things we keep coming back for again and again... The ground chuck is fantastic and priced really well! You can get ten pounds for $2.19/lb. (You may be able to get slightly cheaper at the grocery store, but this is FRESH) The meat is always of great quality; no "surprises." We just bought 10lbs this last Saturday and the burgers we made were amazing. It's a great deal if you have a big BBQ coming up, or just want to stock the freezer. The New York Strips are really, really good. You can buy the whole "strip" and they'll slice it for free; it's about $5.99/lb. Three times last summer we bought a whole strip and had them sliced into 2" thick steaks and they're like butter. The meat is Choice but it's honestly as tender and tasty as Prime. Do it. You won't regret it. Every time we served these steaks our guests RAVED about how tender they were. I've bought the whole prime rib roast twice and thought they were amazing, but my husband swears one time it wasn't that tender (he's crazy). *Overall you need to know how to pick red meat and look for good marbling. They're friendly there and will gladly let you see each piece as you shop.

Fairway Packing Co - What a beautiful boxful of meat

If you love yourself, you will buy your meat here…read more I came across this place by sheer chance about 4 years ago while sitting next to a random guy at Eastern Market stuffing my face with a burrito from the El Guapo truck. I was telling my new rando homeboy that I wanted to eat something before I went over to the Gratiot Central Market to buy some meat so I didn't overdo it. John Doe wipes some guac off his face and tells me I should go to Fairway Packing instead. I said what is that? He points and tells me it's over that way and they have dry aged beef - the rest as they say is history. Be forewarned though, this place ain't cheap. However, it's one of the few places I know of where you legitimately get what you are paying for. I've gotten tons of stuff here over the years. I'm particularly fond of the dry aged ribeyes and the chop house burger blend. Let me tell you, if you like burgers and you think there is no difference in ground beef you are mistaken, sir. And despite how much most stuff costs here, this grind is pretty reasonable - about $2.50/lb more than you will pay for janky-ass ground chuck. You can even buy yourself a hunk of meat and have it dry aged to your specifications. If you and a couple of carnivore buddies teamed up on a slab you can save yourself a little $$$ I'm also particularly fond of their packaging. Everything is vacuum sealed TIGHT. And that makes a difference, trust me. I have bought some of their specials before to save a little dough and I have gotten almost a year out of some steaks in the freezer because they are packed so well. Also, due to their popularity with the common man such as myself they have started rolling out some packages and coupon codes on their website to appeal to the retail customer. Which I really appreciate. So, Fairway, if you are reading this dudes, keep putting those specials and those coupons up, help a brotha out! This may not be a weekly grocery stop for most people but if you really want quality stuff for a dinner party or a treat while the wife might be out of town on a "girls weekend" do yourself a favor and visit their website and place an order.

I had a special day to celebrate, and I called them to have a couple of Wagyu NY strips cut to 2" - Ken was happy to help me out and they were amazing. I thought the price was a little high, but for a special occasion worth it. I will be going back. Thank you, Ken.
