I'm obsessed with my hair. It is so shiny and so beautiful. My hair is so light and flowy. Definitely recommended.

Natural Hair Silk Press Review. I have been in Dallas for almost 8 years and have probably tried about 12 different stylists. There was almost always an issue i.e. punctuality, professionalism or the final product. I had given up on a stylist for about 2 years at this point, when I found Dyson's IG Page. I was pleasantly surprised with how consistent he was with his clients and how there hair was BEYOND fab. So, I had to give him a try. First Bonus: After scheduling my appointment, he electronically confirmed it within 5 minutes. Second Bonus: The day before my appointment, I received a personal (not automated) text from him, confirming I would still be coming and ensuring that I had no questions. Third Bonus: He arrived early and was ready to start minutes before my appt time Fourth and Fifth: My wash and condition was excellent. He did not rush during the wash process and he did not try to scratch my head to death. His process of washing/conditioning left my hair/head with that clean, tingling feel that we all love. In addition to my silk press, I was also getting a trim. I was unsure if he would be one of those stylists that's a little heavy with the scissors. But he was Not! Okay, Sixth, Seventh, 8-10, This guy is amazing. Like Amazing. My hair turned out phenomenal and he did not even use the highest heat. His Ora: Amazing His Attitude: Beyond Great My Results: Cray Cray, Fabulous My appt was 11/29 and I waited until I washed my hair for the review. Dyson made it clear that he wasn't in the business of saving curls, but God! My curls came back, with a vengeance. My hair looks happier and healthier. I've already booked another appt for a month from now.

He claimed he would refund me and never did. He proceeded to ignore the requests I sent now no response!

Update I washed my hair for the first time since the salon and NO CURLS ‍‍ and def no refund. Never again!

I sent him a DM on instagram on July 22nd, he responded August 1st with a link to book an appointment. I told him that I booked with him already and would see him Thursday. I get to my appointment at 9:56am, my appointment is at 10am. When I walk in I see that it's a girl in his chair that he's finishing up, he tells me to wait in the car and that he will call me. I wait and at this point it's 10:15 am and my appointment is at 10am. I see a girl walk back out just like I did so I ask her are you waiting for Dyson for a 10am appointment and she said yeah. I said wow he overbooked and I'm looking at reviews now and it looks like that this happened before. Shortly thereafter he comes out and says what's my name and then says your appointment was canceled because you didn't confirm and that he sent an email and text message, all lies! How do I not get an email AND text message!? I said I paid a $25 dollar deposit and drove over 20 miles and asked if he could try to fit me in, he said no that he has another client after the girl he decided to take, who actually came late to the appointment. I told him that I got an email asking if I had any questions to let them know, It never said I had to send an email to reconfirm again, even after paying a deposit. If I pay a deposit that means I'm serious and that I'm really coming! I asked the girl did she confirm and he was like no no me and her have been talking on instagram. I could tell the girl was an instagram model or stripper and that he would get more clout if he took her instead of me. Also look at how most of his clients look, Puerto Rican(easily manipulated hair) or video vixen like. Also most of his clients are first time clients as well, he doesn't usually have repeat customers. I'll stick to my hair stylist in Atlanta, these Dallas stylists are very inconsistent and mediocre. Instead of refunding my $25 dollars back he sent money like regular, so I ended up getting back $23 and some change. Don't get excited to get your hair done by him because he may or may not take you depending on the day and who you are.

Let me fill y'all in. I looked up "Silk Press" on Yelp because I was ready for a straightening. I stumbled upon DYSON and I'm happy I did. My hair is simply beautiful and his personality just made my visit 10X better. I appreciate the slay that you gave my hair! He even talked me into clipping my ends and I just....don't. Lol. Thanks a million! Thelma J

The first visit to Dyson was amazing and I loved my hair..when I returned for a second silk press my hair was cut so short, and uneven on top of being very heat damaged on the areas he used the hot comb.I'm devastated .considering BC again and starting over.i really regret going back that second time

The email from THEM confirming my appointment.

Stephanie M.

I should've came here and read the reviews first, I had an appointment scheduled for tomorrow and realized I couldn't make it. So I attempted to reschedule. The person he has controlling his emails will cause him to go out of business with the TERRIBLE attitude they have. I'm not sure if it's actually him or a lonely bitter female but the attitude was unpleasant. Mind you I attempted to reschedule 24 hours in advance but they replied back my appointment had already been canceled bc I didn't confirm my appointment.. WHAT!? I literally received an email from THEM confirming my appointment yesterday. It's tacky, it's tasteless and thank GOD I dodged that bullet! I'm definitely not the one! There's a lady in Plano/Frisco that does REALLY good natural hair and actually goes by appointments. Check her out! FYI yelp can u please incorporate 0 star ratings, because Giving them that 1 star hurt. He keeps saying I received a text, I did receive a text but when I get an emaill CONFIRMING my appointment at the SAME TIME I i got the text anyone with a brain would know that the text is saying the SAME THING the email is saying. FYI how about you update your email and allow the customer to confirm from there as well.. it's common sense and makes it THAT much easier for the customer!! THANK YOUUUU

Dyson did a great job on my silk press. It was my first time meeting him and my friend booked the appointment for me and for my wedding. I got my hair done two days prior to the wedding and it was still gorgeous. My hair looked fabulous. I received a much needed cut and condition. I will be back. The salon was beautiful and Dyson did an excellent job! Thank you very much! read more

booked appointment for silk press and trim 5 days in advance. i received an automated email with a confirmation within 24 hours. i arrived to my appt today 5 minutes early at 10:55am. i immediately noticed he was behind. he was finishing one client and starting the straightening sequence on another. when i booked my appointment it states "one hour" as duration but i planned for an additional 30 mins just in case. at 11:06 he began straightening and at this point told me it would take 45 minutes as he does not rush. his assistant was not there to speed up the process due to lack of transportation. i took off work for two hours for this appointment. dyson told me to come back at 6pm. i came back at 6pm (today) to be told my hair is too short for a press. i wasted time and money traveling back and forth. i found dyson on instagram and was hesitant at first but trusted positive reviews. i obviously regret this as this experience was very unprofessional and inconvenient. read more

I've been going to Dyson for little over a month and he's everything I've been looking for in a stylist for years. He's fun, professional, timely, but most importantly does a great job on my hair! I have very thick, natural, coarse hair and he gets it silky straight every time! And the silk press could easily last for a couple weeks. He always asks how my hair is doing between appointments and will adjust my service to what he thinks it needs. The health of my hair has significantly improved in such a short time and I no longer feel like I need to solely rely on protective styles or sew-ins to have healthy hair. Also, his assistant works quickly and efficiently but is still very personable. I highly recommend Dyson for anyone looking for a great stylist! read more

I found Dyson on IG and am I glad I let him bring life into this head of mine. I must start with how punctual Dyson was... my appointment was not until 6, I arrived early and he promptly started on my hair. Not at one moment did I feel as if I would be spending my night in the salon. When I walked in I looked like I came from under a rock but now I look like I'm signed by the Roc. I will definitely be back for him to place those blessed in my hair. I would definitely recommend Dyson to any of my friends and family simply because of how professional he was. I have confidence that he is able to deliver EVERY SINGLE TIME. I must also add I was having an awful day and he provide comic relief and made me feel better. He also tucked my hair behind my ear like he has known me since conception, I live for it!! Thank you sooo much Dyson, you have gained a client (if I could give you 10 stars I would) read more

Made an appointment to to get greys covered and a trim which means a blow dry also. I was apprehensive because not everyone who does natural hair takes care of your hair in the process. But iwhen I got there the color was put in my hair and I had to sit for 30mims. I knew it smelt funny but I said nothing. When I was done washed and blow dried. His assistant literally ripped through my hair as she blow dried it to the point i told her I am going to get an headache. My hair was dry and messy at the end of it. He sent me in the bathroom to style my own hair to leave. I got in there and realized half of my hair was not colored. It still had grey all over. When I asked him about it. NEVER APOLOGISED. He said that it was the color I choose. my hair is dark brown I told him he could do a dark brown or off black whatever he thought would blend well with my hair. This was over the phone. We never talked about it once Igor there and he saw my hair. I would think it would be up to him the professional to figure out a color that could blend my hair. This is not the 1st,2nd or3rd time I hada stylist colored my hair. When I told him that I didn't think it was fair to charge me $80 when my hair wasn't colored. He just cut me off and rudely said it doesn't matter what you think it's not my fault your hair didn't take the color. I was appalled at how rude and un empathetic he was. Now I have to go find someway to color my grays and as I write this I am on the way to target to get some shea moisture to deep condition And I just left there yesterday. I wish I had paid attention to the less that stellar reviews I saw. He only said few words to me. Charged me for his expertise but his assistant mostly did everything. I would Never return. Sorry I followed only the good reviews and not the bad. He may do a good silk press I assume according to the reviews, but to have your hair ripped out for it is not worth it. I wonder if he used a Walmart color on my hair. i am so disappointed, felt so humilliated walking out of the shop with my hair unkept. My family I'm the waiting to see how my hair turned out. I had to pull a night cap over my head to leave read more

A few weeks ago, after reading the reviews and having been familiar with the Frederic Fekkai…read moresalons, I came for a 1" trim to my long-time, blunt-cut, medium-length (3 inches below the chin), slightly angled bob, beveled a bit underneath at the nape. It was quickly dried and styled in center or side parts, with lots of volume, lift and swing. Elegant and easy. Derek said he couldn't understand me. I should have left immediately. What I have now is an inexplicable cut, 2-5 " off, barely chin length, huge amounts of hair removed, wispy layers everywhere, and texturizing. He has activated a mass of waves and curls never seen before. From the front, the shape is a cartoonish wide diamond. From the sides, a fat wedge. This is the opposite of what is required for copious, European, fine, porous hair with a nape curl and minimal wave. Derek basically has created a White girl Afro. He somehow dried it beautifully, disguising the weird architectural structure by using a tiny brush on myriad narrow strands, drying them straight, and contorting them via elaborate manual sculpting techniques, product and nearly an hour of work. Maybe he planned to do twice-weekly blowdries on it. I have spent many days and dollars elsewhere experimenting with product, techniques and professional advice while attempting to cope. Derek pleasantly refunded the charges and apologized for the "inconvenience." This is far worse than inconvenient.

I have been going to Dyson since September 2017 and I leave satisfied every single time!! I am natural and it is often hard to find a stylist to take care of my hair the way I see fit, but Dyson has been great since Day 1. I remember my first appointment and being nervous (like the new kid on the block) but Dyson made me feel so welcomed as if I had been going to him for years lol. I appreciate his warmth and friendly personality, but also the passion that he has for his craft and the attention to detail! He is also located near downtown Dallas which is super convenient!! Did I mention he has you in and out in NO time!! That was also a win for me!! I'm literally in the chair and out within an 1.5 hrs or less (my hair is a few inches past shoulder length) If you are looking for a great stylist who specializes in natural hair, and silk presses... definitely schedule an appointment with Dyson!!! read more

I am recently new to Dallas and I was really nervous having someone new working on my hair. However, Dyson and his team are wonderful! Dyson's silk presses are amazing!!! My hair never responds to any treatment, relaxers, or any other management treatments (I have really coarse 4C hair that you can barely get a comb through if it isn't soaking wet). After 2 visits with Dyson (one in October and one in December) I am confident I'll be going to him forever. My hair is very silky, straight, and it last really well (I just wrap it and avoid getting my hair wet until I'm ready to wash it). I highly recommend Dyson if you are looking for something different than braids or wigs. Dyson and his staff are also very nice and funny people, and I never have a problem when I am there! read more

This is beyond the best hair salon I've ever been to! I'm a natural girl and if you are natural you know how hard it is to find a stylist that knows about all hair types and how to treat them. Dyson is so educated and skilled that just by answering basic questions about your hair it's like he's treated it for years. I get a silk press and my hair is always shiny, strong, bouncy and soft. Every visit is fun, educational and just a breath of fresh air! I promise you that once he lays hands on your hair, you'll never let another person touch it! He works miracles! He's also very easy on the eyes! Try him you'll be a lifer! read more

Dyson is amazing !!! I just moved here from NC and this is my 3rd time coming to see Dyson. I have a natural hair and I've been getting him to silk press it. I appreciate that he promotes healthy hair and gives me recommendations and tips. The salon is nice and the other stylists are also friendly. I enjoy Dyson's fun personality and his attention to detail with my hair. I also enjoy how easy it is to make an appointment through the online scheduling system. Dyson is a breathe of fresh air and def has made me feel welcome to the Dallas area. read more

Dyson has been my stylist for over four years and his work has been nothing short of exceptional at each visit. When I go to him on a regular basis, my hair stays healthy and always looks good. I've referred friends to him for their hair care needs and special events. He has done my hair for my most important life events (wedding, bridal shower, baby shower, etc). I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a quality stylist. read more

Best silk press I have ever had. I came in after having my hair up weeks in Havana twists. Needless to say it was a tangled mess. I loved the atmosphere of the salon. I was addressed right away and although I was running late, I was shampooed right away. He completely transformed my mess into hair that was full of body! I love the results and after a week my hair is still laid. I will definitely be a regular. read more

Said hi to Dyson who replied "oh you're for me?" I put my stuff down and then he abruptly summoned me to have a seat in the back of the salon. Thinking he was about to wash me, but NO. He tugs on my 4c hair and says "I don't do short hair." I replied "okaaaay, your website, booking, not your own confirmation email stated that." He replied "well, I'm telling you now so send a request for your deposit back." Then he walked away leaving me stunned, confused, and embarrassed. Then he came back with a look like "you're still here?" I said "uhm, I'm confused, embarrassed, and inconvenienced." Then he accused me of going off in him! LOL. This is CRAZY! Wow. I noticed the lovely medium to light skin women in the shop with their softer coils (not curls) and without a doubt I know that my length of hair is not the problem. It's my darker skin tone and 4c hair. The women looked mortified for me and a stylist looked like she wanted to console me but she didn't . His whole attitude was trash.

Most definitely will return in two weeks!!!
