    Perfect location

Perfect location by Crissy Beach. The espresso is good, if pricey. Same with the donuts. I had a spiced chocolate, which is a cake donut (my favorite kind) with warm spices and a kick--a lot like Mexican hot chocolate. I got my daughters the vanilla milk chocolate. My younger daughter tasted sea salt in the glaze, which she didn't like. In general, the donuts are definitely made for adult palettes. There are some tables, but it's much nicer to take your donuts and coffee to the beach only steps away!

Donut was okay. The cutest thing about this place was the location and environment around it. I only gave an extra star because they had a decent playlist. If you're looking for a simple donut and hot drip coffee (the kind you'd find at a typical donut shop), I wouldn't recommend. No creamer, only refrigerated half & half and oat milk that made my coffee cold. Coffee didn't even taste like coffee. Don't even bother asking questions because they will stare at you blankly.

Gee, I had not been to Dynamo Donuts on 24th in ages. The last time was back when I had a burning desire to satisfy my curiosity about the fabled Maple Bacon Apple Donut. I satisfied it and moved on, presumably to the next fabled donut. I guess that makes me a donut whore since I didn't leave a thank you note on the bed stand after I devoured it. I was taking a walk on the Golden Gate Promenade trying to overtake an Indian family whose familial bondage was blocking my path. Once I passed them, I noticed this kiosk standing rather inconspicuously next to the Marina. I just noticed a line of white, middle-aged men in Bermuda shorts. What could they possibly be waiting for? Ah, Dynamo Donuts and coffee. How could I resist in the middle of the morning? Yes, I got a couple of their $4 Donuts and a $4 16-ounce cup of Coffee (photo: https://yelp.to/lvlJBStly3). I was surprised there were seven kinds still available, so I went with the Mint Chocolate, a glazed creation rolled in mint chocolate bits, and yes, the Maple Bacon Apple replete with bacon bits (photo: https://yelp.to/nEVmnMC6kR). Not transcendent but satisfying amid the bay breeze. DONUTS - 4 stars...not quite up to the hype but a nice treat AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...just a kiosk with some seats and tables but close to the Marina Green and Crissy Field SERVICE - 3 stars...seemed trapped TOTAL - 4 stars...a worthwhile morning donut stop RELATED - Exploring the Marina? I have been visiting Dynamo since I was an Undergrad student at USF in 2012; I would drive across town to the original location on Saturday mornings just to grab some treats to share with my classmates. Fast forward to 2024, I still look forward to this sweet treat and often plan my long Saturday run near the marina green preferably so my last few steps bring me straight to the little hut at the marina green. I'm a huge fan of their ability to create some fun monthly flavors including gluten free options. I'm not gluten free but I have to say, I find their GF to be pretty darn tasty; I often gravitate towards the flavors and am never disappointed. They have mastered the texture of the GF, it's hard to tell the difference, they really are that good. I have friends who are restricted to GF, so I've been forced to try a lot of these items and have to say, I've had my fair share of tasting items that are not enjoyable and would never eat again if I had to restrict myself to GF. I'm happy to report, dynamo cracked the code and their GF donuts are delicious As for their regular variety you can't go wrong with trying them out. I also recently had an apple maple donut with bacon which hit the mark for me as I love the sweet and savory combo. So if you are a fan of donuts, and you're waking by, don't think twice, give them a try.

    Coffee and lemon poppyseed donut

This little cafe is right by one of the most scenic spots in SF - Crissy Field! I stopped by during a walk along the water. They have a few tables and chairs to enjoy your food and drinks there as well. I got a regular coffee, which I enjoyed, but the star of the show was the donut. I had the lemon poppy seed donut, which is one of their seasonal options. The flavors were great and I particularly liked that it wasn't too sweet. The donuts are small but hefty and it made the perfect snack. They also have vegan and gluten free regular and seasonal options, making this place super accessible for everyone.

Soooooo glad a friend told me about this place. The original location is in the mission but this spot is just as good. Unique and delicious donuts. The service was fast and the ambiance on the water next to the sail boats is dreamy!! My favorites were the passionfruit and the vanilla milk chocolate! Only complaint is the strange hours! Otherwise it's a perfect spot to grab a donut on a walk around the marina greens/palace/east beach!

I was running a half marathon and got really hungry near Crissy Field. Very lucky to have Dynamo Donut in the tiny kiosk near the waterfront! It's an one-man booth here (literally only fits one person) and there's a lot of traffic so be prepared for a line. That said I got my donut right after ordering so it's a very fast line, it's no Arsicault. I got the Strawberry Elderflower donut which was amazing: fruity, flowery flavor on top of a cake-y donut. Amazing to grab such an awesome pastry and walk along the water in the Marina. Great hot girl walk destination forsure They also have dog treats which, if I were a dog, I'd be excited about. To wrap, I think this is among my top donut spots in SF. Would recommend if you're able to get to the area :)

Come here for exotic flavored donuts with free parking and a view. This is the only donut place I know of in the city that has free easy parking. It's really cute, located in a little hut next to Crissy Field. I always sit and look out at the Bay or do a walk to the Wave Organ afterwards. The flavors here are a little more exotic and the donuts taste more dense and less fluffy that regular donuts. Two of my favorite things in life are chocolate and roses so I was happy because they have a chocolate rose donut. The rose flavor is subtle, I'd actually prefer it if had a stronger rose flavor but it's still good. There is an everyday menu as well as rotating flavors for each month. I thought all their flavors were really creative and fun. The website lists everything for the whole year so you can get an idea of what is to come and plan for a special event months in advance. This is a good place for commuters from Marin to come and get a donut and coffee while admiring the bridge view for 5-10 minutes then drive to work and get downtown by 9am.

Cute, little kiosk by the water in the marina. Great to take people visiting and to have a delicious donut and coffee while going on a walk. Definitely pricey but to be expected since it's right along the water. They change their flavors monthly but have a few standard ones that are always on the menu.

Dynamo, indeed! I've never been a fan of American donuts since I usually find them too sweet and dense, but Dynamo Donuts has convinced me otherwise with their innovative flavors and light and fluffy texture. Mind blown! Can't attest to the coffee, but I can say the three donut flavors we had were amazing! Each flavor so distinctive and heavenly. They have seasonal flavors that change monthly and classic flavors like their maple bacon apple donut. I was pleasantly surprised when I bit into the maple bacon apple donut to taste bacon bits inside the batter as well! This particular Dynamo Donut is located in Crissy Field with plenty of lawn seating and a great view of the Bay and Golden Gate Bridge. Look for the little hut with the yellow flag. This location does not do telephone orders (no phone) or order pickup, so it's first come first serve. I recommend going early since they do sell out.

Vanilla Earl Grey Donut & Cappuccino

This place is so cute! Location: this cute little walk up place is right at Chrissy Field. It's only a short walk to the Palace of Fine Arts, and I highly recommend taking your food there! We ate our donuts at the tables next to the shop & walked there to finish our coffee. The Food: They have a long list of daily specials! I got the vanilla early grey donut - it was perfectly sweet while still allows the early grey flavor to come through. The cappuccino was nice and strong. Would highly recommend this place to people who want to grab a bite & get a less touristy view of the water than at one of the piers.

We walked right into the cool and cozy no-frills donut shop and was greeted by the friendly staff. She even threw in a few delectable donut holes. I got a cake donut, but my companion got a regular glazed. I'm pretty picky with my glazes, which is why I default to cake when trying new donut places as most classic glazed donuts are pretty stale by the afternoon. But to my surprise, their classic yeasty glazed donut was incredible moist and not too overly fried. This is the mark of an excellent donut shop. I'm even curious to try their jelly-filled donuts next time i'm in. Highly highly recommend and I can't wait to come back!

That afternoon, it was packed with seniors with walkers who just seemed to be hanging out talking. :) The Jelly Donut has all the classics as well as some fun twists. We were looking for a little something sweet, so asked for a lemon jelly donut. I pointed to another big one and asked what it was. The woman behind the counter tongue-tied herself trying to say "crumb-coated cinnamon roll" and laughed which was extremely adorable so I had to get it. And yes, they gave a couple of surprise donuts which we didn't know was a thing. Everyone is tense and crabby these days (for good reason), so such a small move can really make someone's day. And yes, all of the donuts were excellent and fresh! I normally wouldn't order a cruller because they are always chewy and flavorless. Now I get it! This might be one of my favorite kinds of donuts now! I'm going out of my way to buy donuts from here in the future.

Parking is super easy around the area, which is a rarity in SF. Shop is bright and airy, with the most adorable pastel color scheme. I ordered two of their milk chocolate donuts ($5 each), a key lime meringue donut ($6), a blueberry & lime donut ($5), and a caramel apple donut ($6). Donuts are on the pricier side, but the presentation and use of high quality ingredients makes up for it. The sourdough donuts themselves aren't nearly as sweet as standard donuts and have a soft, bouncy texture. The milk chocolate donut was absolutely decadent. Upon first bite, you can immediately tell this donut was topped with real melted milk chocolate. This was levels above a typical chocolate glazed donut. The flakey sea salt garnished on top balanced out the sweetness nicely. Although I will say that I found the richness of the chocolate to clash slightly with the tanginess of the sourdough donut. The key lime meringue donut had a super tart key lime filling and was topped with fluffy meringue. Definitely the most eye catching of the donuts I picked up. But the key lime filling was a bit too punchy and sour for my liking. The glaze on the blueberry & lime donut had a potent and fresh blueberry flavor that went well with the lime zest sprinkled on top. The caramel apple donut was my favorite. The caramelized apple filling paired with the cream cheese frosting and graham cracker crumbs was almost like eating an apple pie + cheesecake fusion but as a donut! Overall, a solid donut place that I'd return to if I'm ever in need of a special treat!
