First of all, I am a 10 year Yelp Elite member with over 1,000 reviews and I am also a classic car guy who has know George and the team at Fabulous for 20 years.
My first experience with Fabulous was around 1999 when I purchased a 1967 Corvette roadster, 427/390hp, for around $40,000 and in what I thought was great condition from a dealer in New Orleans. Little did I know, the car looked and ran great, BUT it was not restored to NCRS specs and had tons of aftermarket non-correct parts. Over the 10 years I owned the car, George helped educate me with two paths: keep the car as-is (make it safe to drive) and enjoy it or go down a slightly more expensive route and begin to transform it to NCRS correct specs and dramatically increase the value and desirability.
For the first few years I owned the car, I simply drove it around town and loved it while Fabulous did tune ups, maintenance, and made sure it was SAFE to drive. After a few years, my first NCRS show was in Miami and I scored about 80% and was awarded third flight. I took the judging sheets to Fabulous and we decided on the most cost-effective things to fix to improve my score. My next show was in Orlando and I was awarded 91% and second flight. Taking the scoring sheets to George again, I made more improvements and scored 95% and top flight the next year in Orlando. That summer I went to NCRS nationals in San Antonio and I was also awarded Top Flight (the best) and could not have done it without George and his team at Fabulous. A few years after earning NCRS Top Flight, I sold the car for about 3x the original cost (I forgot what I spend on restoration, but it was less than the appreciation from when I bought it).
I recently purchased a 1978 Corvette Pace Car, L82, 4-speed, from a dealer in Canada and immediately took it to Fabulous for inspection and some basic tune up, safety fixes, as it needed a carburetor rebuilt and exhaust fixed and they also did a great job helping with with this car. I took the car to Orlando and easily earned Top Flight on my first attempt, but I took it to George again to fix the silly things that the judges found and earned another Top Flight (over 97%) a year later. Additionally, I drive this car around town on weekends and it runs fantastic.
I highly recommend this auto shop as I have trusted them for over 20 years with two of my cars and they always do a great job. Sure this is an expensive hobby, BUT I always get an accurate estimate BEFORE anything is done on my car. I really am skeptical of the negative reviews on Yelp and they seem to be fake to me or someone that simply has no idea what it is like to own, restore, and maintain a classic car.
If you are looking for a high quality, classic car restoration shop, and you can afford this hobby, then look no further, this is the place for you. If you don't care about quality, are looking for the lowest price in town, or if you don't recognize and value the services of true craftsman, then go somewhere else.
