Two years ago when we purchased our home, Shane Kidwell and the company he worked for were highly recommended by our Realtor as having a solid, great reputation in the area. Getting approval for our loan and the company's preparation of closing documents took an enormous amount of time! Finally we signed on the last day of our Real Estate Purchase Contract Agreement, but it turned out documents had been prepared with the wrong closing date, making all documents invalid. Thanks to our Realtor going to bat for us, the documents were redrawn and we did close but with only minutes to spare! Overall, we found the loan process frustrating but figured ours was probably an exception and not the rule. When our daughter and her husband wanted to refinance their home recently, we recommended they work with a local lender. Because of his reputation, we recommended they talk with Shane. A few frustrations were encountered by them as well. FIMC didn't lock her in on the first day, even though they had said YES to the loan, so by the time they did the lock a few days later, the rate had increased. The "loan file" changed hands multiple times and as a result she was asked to submit the same documentation multiple times because of it. (We also had that same type of experience with our loan!) Days would go by without her questions via email being answered or getting a response to messages left by phone. Within a month after contacting First Security Bank loan department and a hassle-free experience, their loan was approved and they got the type of financing they desired. I commend Shane for contacting me regarding my review and wanting to set things right. Maybe our experiences were just difficult cases beyond their control. I guess time will tell. read more

Shane Kidwell's team at Fairway works like some kind of mortgage loan special forces operation, or precision surgery team. With an in-house team of underwriters backing them up, Shane Kidwell and April Brodel will cleanly and efficiently take your loan from pre-approval to closing so quickly that you almost forget that buying a home is supposed to be stressful. I contacted Shane's office about applying for a USDA guaranteed loan in mid September of this year. Mind you, USDA loans have a reputation for being slow and bloated, on every level. Not only did I get approved for the loan, we closed early. On a USDA loan! That's the real estate equivalent of spotting a unicorn. When an unexpected problem occurred (on a Saturday), involving one of my assets which I thought would derail the offer I had just made on a house, my also-incredibly-talented real estate agent, Geoff Hill, got on the phone with Shane, and come Monday morning it was all fine. I'll be honest, when I first interviewed Shane to send our mortgage business his way, I was a little reluctant. He sounded very confident in his teams ability to leverage technology and maintain relationships. Basically, the message I was getting was that he's rarely had to be available late at night to close on a mortgage on time. Like I said, I was skeptical. Shane's team not only delivered on our closing date without a single issue, they delivered a week early. Historically, I've used mortgage brokers who are accessible at all hours of the night. I thought this was great service. But in reality, it exposed something that Shane's team has figured out. It's better to have very well defined, automated process so that I don't have to call and harass my broker at 11:00 PM at night! If you have well defined processes with excellent people executing, you're not having to 3x check everything. To make matters even better, Shane's team still places a very strong emphasis on relationships. THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! Personal service = F- Communication = F- Online "systems" = F- The only time I ever talked to Mr. Kidwell live on the phone was when he "kissed my ass" because I was threatening to take my business elsewhere. He assured me that he could get me the loan I wanted and I gave him a second chance. SHAME ON ME! The person that was actually handling my paperwork doesn't even work in the office (remotely) so it was impossible to get anything done. I had to chase them down to get my documents signed because their online signing system locked me out and when I complained there was no response. Shane had claimed he had sent me emails but I never received them. He got "upset" and sent me a screen shot of the email..I stated that I had never seen it and suggested that maybe he had not sent it to a correct address. He again got agitated and did nothing to rectify the situation. Now, 3 days before closing come to find out that my loan is not being approved at the terms Shane ASSURED me he could get. All lies. No service. Some of the worst business practices I have ever been a part of. STAY AWAY!! There are a million other mortgage companies that will value your business. I got ya' on Facebook too... Hey Facebook friends...just a heads up. If you are shopping mortgage companies DO NOT use Shane Kidwell at Fairway Mortgage in Lynwood. He is the absolute worst! He will not do anything he says he is and ultimately you will get screwed like I did 3 days before closing! I can truly say that the best performer and most proactive party in my entire process of buying a house was Shane and his team. To list just a few incidents; Shane and his team were very timely with all my paper work, money was transferred to escrow as soon as it was possible, questions were answered in less than 24 hours and most of the time it was immediate, estimates of how much my monthly payment will be had absolutely no hidden fees or any type of confusion, and finally following up after the loan agreement was signed while maintaining the same quality of service. I was very direct with Shane at the beginning and told him i would shopping around for interest rates at other providers and large Banks. Shane encouraged me to do so, and to my surprised, helped me.
