My house inspector, Todd Arnold re-walked my roof and confirmed my suspicion that the roof needed to be replaced due to some severe storms. I got several bids. With the exception of Gillmeister Roofing, all of the other contractors indicated it would be a 4-6 month wait for shingles. (I wanted Class 4, 30-year OC Weatherguard HP shingles to withstand heat and wind). The Gillmeisters hopped right on ordering the shingles with a prepayment by me. The shingles were received and installed in four weeks from the placement of the order. Wahoooo! While waiting for the shingles to come in, two more high-wind storms passed through, and shingles went flying. Kyle Gillmeister came out and replaced 20 shingles on my roof, to hold me until the new roof could be installed. That was above and beyond. * The crew, led by Hector, came in, did a great job with the removal, sheathing prep, and new shingle install. It was pristine when they were done - it was as if they had never been there. They swept the ground with a magnet to locate any stray nails. * I am very happy with their work as are my neighbors, my home inspector, and my real estate agent, who had all recommended the Gillmeister Roofing company to me. * Mark Gillmeister Roofing has well over a 20+ year track record of excellence. You also knew that due to my specific policy, you were not working with the insurance company; this was essentially a cash job. You were also aware that I would be out of pocket above the insurance payment. You chose to take a calculated risk that I would not be prudent enough to obtain multiple estimates. All three additional estimates were $17,000 lower than yours. Had you adopted a different business model, we wouldn't be facing this issue, and you would have earned my business. That was entirely your decision. It was also my decision not to work with a contractor who would knowingly and intentionally attempt to maximize his earnings, if possible, at the expense of the homeowner. I would have been at a significant disadvantage had I proceeded with you. You would have been the sole beneficiary of that working relationship. Additionally, I have documentation that clearly states that you explicitly stated this was your fee. Regarding your "business decision" to cut your losses, you and I both know that's not what transpired. You are not out any money. You were not supposed to pass that fee on to customers in the first place. That is your fee to pay. I had a roof replacement after it being damaged by hail. It was replaced and after several months during the rain season, the roof had a leak into my attic and it trickled down into my living room. I brought both parties out and ultimately they pointed fingers at each other for fault. I took pictures and video. They took their own pictures. I left a nice voicemail and the owner of Impero called me personally to apologize about the crappy work (I have pictures) of the seal job around an existing power box. He made comments that suggested his guys had some responsibility of the trashy work. I've made several attempts to coordinate both parties to get together and resolve this because both of them have been paid in full and I still have a leak. The owner hasn't responded to any of my texts since June of this year. It took a nasty email for another reaponse and now they're back to pointing fingera again and I have ZERO notice from eitber party. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. If they make a mistake, they appear to put finished work on the back burner and don't care if my roof caves in.
