With 425 wineries to select from in Sonoma County the extraordinary standout as particularly bright stars. Dutton Goldfield is certainly one of those. In particular we love their Chardonnay. Our first experience was with Host Joseph, another shining star at the tasting room. We'll be back many more times, the ambience is relaxed, friendly, humorous at times

What a fantastic winery. The wine at Dutton-Goldfield is outstanding. The staff is amazing and very friendly. I go wine tasting a lot and this has been a favorite of mine that I even became a member!

We had a nice outing here this past Sunday. Our host, Megan, was very friendly and gave us a lot of information about the wine and the region. We called around 10:30am to make an appointment for 11:15am. When we arrived, we were the only customers sitting in the quaint outdoor patio. We ended up buying two zins and got our tasting fees waived.

    That was delicious

"DG" is a nice winery to check out some examples of well-balanced pinots, chards, zins, and even some darn fine dry gewurztramiiner (try it -- you'll like it!). The vineyards that DG sources fruit from span a variety of AVAs, including Sonoma Coast, Green Valley, and Marin. If you're a pinot fan, you definitely should check out the winery. Nothing heavy-handed here -- all wines dry and well-balanced. Nice tables to enjoy your flight outdoors on sunny days...

To be completely honest we picked Dutton-Goldfield Winery for a tasting because they were part of the Visa Signature Wineries that offered a 2-fer-one tasting of their wines. As it turns out we did not use the offer because I purchased 4 bottles and with that tasting fees were waived for my wife and I. "Elite tip" check in on Yelp and you receive 10% off all purchases. Bingo, in the end, the Cheap Pete side of me was satisfied. Ok, now to the wines! Dutton-Goldfied is mainly a Pinot Noir house but does make an incredible Riesling and some very nice Chardonnay's. The Dutton Family own and farm a very large vienyard and the fruit from the vineyard is well respected in the wine industry. This is apparent when you perform the Five S's of wine tasting. Our favorite was the Redwood Ridge Pinot Noir. This pinot displayed a bolder style that I tend to like and as a bonus this happened to be my wife's favorite she tasted that day. Tasting outdoors has its ups and downs but I can't fault the winery for that. All in all our tasting at Dutton-Goldfied was enjoyable and deserving of a 4 star review.

If you have a dog and want to be able to sit INSIDE a tasting room with your pet, this is a great spot in the Sebastopol area. My SO and I decided to take a day trip with our greyhound and chose this place because of its dog-friendliness and because they have a sushi pairing menu. While the sushi itself was pretty standard (lots of rice, not a lot of fish), we liked that they paired the sushi with both reds and whites, and enjoyed the experience. Overall, the thing that stood out most about this place was the wonderful service. The staff who helped us was wonderfully informed about the wines we were trying and also did a good job of guessing what other wines we would like. The venue itself kind of felt like a corporate chain hotel (eg Courtyard Marriot?) so I wouldn't come here if you're looking for rustic charm or architectural interest. BUT if you want thoughtful hosts who can engage both you and your pup, this is an excellent spot.

We stopped in to this tasting room based on a recommendation from another winery. I admit I had never heard of it beforehand and we ended up buying a case of wine! We were lucky that it was a quiet afternoon and were able to do a tasting without an appointment. Barbara was very friendly and knowledgeable. The tasting room is both modern and cozy. We tried a wide array of both white and red wines and bought the Cherry Ridge Vineyard Syrah, Walker Hill Vineyard Chardonnay , Deviate Pinot Noir, Fox Den Vineyard Pinot Noir , Redwood Ridge Pinot Noir, Morelli Lane Vineyard Zinfandel , Green Valley Vineyard Gewurztraminer and the Chileno Valley Vineyard Riesling. We're glad we stopped in and it's definitely worth a stop if you are in the area.

They have a massive deck in front, and on a beautiful day, as we had, we got to sit out there and enjoy some delicious wines. I thought the wines were good, but I liked the space more. It has a bit of a retro vibe and many shaded areas to relax. We had a good time sipping and chatting. If you're in the area, I would say stop, get a few glasses, and enjoy that oversized patio. For some reason, the servicer was busy doing other things, although I think we were the only people there. I'll assume she was setting up or cleaning. The service was mediocre at best. We enjoyed the big patio/deck sipping with friends a perfect way to spend your Saturday afternoon. Cheers to you and SYOY

So after we hit Paul Matthew's Winery I had scheduled a visit with Bowman Cellars around the corner…read moreand was greeted by the energetic Flynn. She was attentive for awhile but then lost us because she stopped coming out and pouring more wine. I was booked for a one hour appointment that took 2 plus hours because Flynn seemed out of it or something was up. But idk what it was perhaps she was keeping herself busy with something inside! Hmmm ?! So she started us with a predominant gooseberry Sauvignon Blanc and then we had the Rose of Pinot Noir from Mendocino because the fruit is less expensive than the fruit in the Russian River Valley okay so it was decent with flavors of ripe red fruits such as strawberry and raspberry and a textured finish! Then we had the Chardonnay which was decent quality for a Chardonnay it had seen 20^ new oak gave it flavor and then we had the Russian River Valley Pinot Noir which was okay not great it had complexity but not much after hitting Paul Mathew's Pinot dense winery this Pinot seemed to be just okay and then we got to the final wine a red Zinfandel from the Sierra Foothills area and it was big and bold but lacking distinctive flavors. I didn't love it! . Then since they're not especially friendly towards those in the business because it's a 15% discount on wines purchased where I usually get a 30% discount and a comped tasting to which they usually will offer the rose' and Sauvignon Blanc to anyone in the industry!! Only I mean who is in the wine industry and wants to drink those wines, not me!! But I stand corrected because she did comp 2 of the tastings!! And that's good or required because I asked to be comped and was given some goofy answer as to they decide at the end of the tasting who gets comped or not but the fee is only $25 bones so not bad. Further, I requested to taste their Cabs to which theirs 1 from Alexander Valley and 1 from Oakville, Napa area and Flynn said yes, but warned me they had been opened on Thursday and it's Saturday so taken that point in I really liked the Cab from Alexander Valley because it had a light tone to it with a richness of blackberry fruit and savory spices it was superb while the one from Napa tasted dead on arrival!! Oh well but I could taste the potential of the wine within it!! And we left after tipping $40 bones!!

This business does not care about it's customers and is so impossible to reach it's almost comical…read more I was a long-term customer of Fog Crest. In 2024 we received a shipment of wine where all the wine in the shipment was broken. In typical situations, wineries offer replacement of broken bottles, but Fog Crest was impossible to reach in spite of (literally) 50 phone calls and emails. Since I couldn't reach them, I canceled my subscription to their wine club. Flash forward a few months, they charge me another ~$500 on my credit card for wine, but never ship me any wine (in spite of the fact that I had already canceled online). Again, dozens of calls and emails, no answer and no response. Still trying. A few months after that, they charge me ANOTHER ~$500 on my credit card for wine, but don't ship that wine to me either. After probably 100 calls and emails, I finally talk to the wine club coordinator on the phone. She of course acknowledges my dozens of messages, and acknowledges my situation. She says she will replace the wine that was broken and figure out why they've been charging me for wine I haven't been receiving and make it right. But that she can't talk right now and she'd call me back with more information. That was a month ago. I've now called again dozens of times, and emailed. No response. Called and emailed the owner, no response. This is borderline criminal: $1,500 in charges for undelivered product, a non-existent customer service experience, and an online system so archaic that it doesn't process your cancelation and continues to charge you for product.

After finally getting a call back, the person said they only called me back because "she saw we had called a lot in one day." That was the first red flag. She promised to credit my account and look into another charge that had been applied. It's been SEVEN days since that conversation, and STILL no credit, no updates, and no resolution. I've followed up with multiple calls, messages, and emails... NOTHING. At this point, it's clear that they don't care about their customers. I highly recommend staying far away from Fog Crest if you value your time and money. Total waste of both

Upon arrival, we checked in and got to choose where we wanted to sit -inside or outside. It's a relatively small space, but we enjoyed our spot outside, as it was great weather that day. Everyone has a different palette, but we enjoyed the Warren's Hill pinot - which had a grippier, more tannin-heavy taste (than typical pinot noirs we were associated with). Aromatic, umami, darker berry fruit forward. As I preluded, the sauvignon blanc was fantastic - very fruity on the nose. Clean and bright, and I get predominantly pineapple/tropical notes. Would definitely come back again. We joined their allocation list, as they don't offer a typical wine club experience.

Place was empty aside from one other party so they were able to accommodate the walk in. The tasting room itself is nicely decorated, clean, spacious, with a more private room in the back and several tables outside. Reason from giving this place a 5 stars is we felt this place was very transactional and not personable like many other wineries in the Sonoma area. Once the tasting flight is done they ask you to either join the club for the comp, buy two bottles, or pay the $35 tasting fee - no offer to revisit any wines or pour something extra they have in inventory. I was curious to try their Sonoma cost Syrah but they didn't have any bottles open. Wines themselves were fine - enjoyed the Pinot rose and Chardonnay (made in Chablis style so more minerality), but their Pinot noirs were quite different from the typical Sonoma coast ones I've had (e.g Williams seylem, Kosta browne, Rochiolli, Arista, etc). These were much darker and less aromatic, no tannins and fuller bodied with some spice notes but short finish. The gentleman pouring for us said these are good to pair with foods, which I could imagine is true. Their estate syrah is similar in style, so similar to their Pinot noir actually, a lighter bodies and ABV Syrah that doesn't have the depth and complexity as syrahs from Paso region that I personally enjoy. But anyways, these are personal preference - when I mentioned a specific tasting note, our host basically said I was wrong. I laughed it off and went along with it, but it didn't sit well.
