I'd been eyeballing this new location of Dutch Bros Coffee directly in front of Castleton Square Mall since construction began. While I honestly have known very little about Dutch Bros., I've long heard good things about them and I love the design. I'd driven by a couple weeks ago, and I could tell they were open for business. So, on a recent trip to Castleton I finally made the time to stop. Dutch Bros., in case it's not obvious, is a drive-thru or pick-up coffee joint founded in Grants Pass, Oregon in 1992 by Dane and Travis Boersma (and yes, really of Dutch descent. On a sad note, Dane has since passed away from ALS). It's now headquartered in Tempe, Arizona now and is still primarily known for being in the western U.S. However, they've gone as far as Florida and only recently entered the Indiana market. Dutch Bros has both franchise and company-owned locations. The vast majority of locations are drive-thru with a pick-up window. Each location sells both hot/cold drinks, non-coffee options, and a relatively small selection of baked goods. Tbetween 2010 and 2015, only 3% of all Dutch Bros franchise locations closed.[8] In 2017, Dutch Bros stopped franchising and started opening only company-owned stores.[12][32] As of June 2021, franchisees were running 264 Dutch Bros stores and another 207 were fully company-owned.[30] The company has a history of buying out franchisees that failed to meet the company's customer-service standards.[8] Dutch Brothers has an annual fundraiser called "Drink One for Dane," an event that supports the Muscular Dystrophy Association. They also support other events. On this particular day that I visited, it was particularly cold and the line was long. There's a recommendation that you use their app, an app that offers quicker service and a variety of offers. There was one employee periodically standing outside to take orders as the line was definitely moving slowly. Several cars went around and parked to use the pick-up window. I ordered simply - a large iced Americano. I was actually pretty stunned at its affordability. It honestly was delicious and I would easily order it again, though I do plan to try other offerings. I see great potential that this will go up to five stars for me, however, given how slow service was I just can't justify it right now. The employees were friendly, ordering is simple, prices are definitely lower than some key other chains, and the product was delicious. So, I'm sticking with a 4-star review for right now. I'm thrilled Dutch Bros has entered the market. They're right next to the Krispy Kreme. I kind of wish we'd had an entrance right off East 82nd Street, however, it's worth the detour and once they work out the bugs this should be a top-notch option in the Castleton area. read more

This was my first time trying Dutch Bros and I was excited to see what the hype was about. They were not busy at all so I decided to stop by today. You can download the app, and your first drink is free. The staff comes up to your window for you to order and they were extremely friendly and professional. When I pulled up to the window I was greeted by another friendly employee and told her this was my first time stopping by. All the staff started cheering, it was funny. She also gave me a sticker, I assume this is due to the recent opening. The drinks are very customizable. They also have a walk up window which I thought was nice. It was mid day near Dutch Bros with the line 6 deep. So I walked up to the window to do the order, and I'm glad I did. They were efficient. I enjoyed my coffee. I think next time I might splurge and get a banana soft top. This is a to go place, not a Starbucks like place to work and hang out. There are no customer bathrooms or tables, strictly come for the drinks, and they were good. So the ambiance depends on the weather or your car. read more

I had drove past and seen that the this location had opened up finally so I had to stop by. Today was the first day of the store being open. Surprisingly there were not a lot of people there in line which I was surprised by but I think it was due to people probably not knowing it was opened and then I did go there at 10:30am. Customer service was great and they were very quick. The order taker he was very friendly. I have the app so I had used it to pay. I do recommend downloading the app to earn points. Also with the app if you are a first time customer you can get a free drink. They did give me free stickers due to my visit today. They have a drive thru or a walk up window. Also you can order ahead on the app. The store looks very clean inside that the workers are working inside from. The building is nice. I really enjoyed my iced golden eagle chai with oat milk. The price is very reasonable for the size you get. I will be back here again. You definitely should try it out if you haven't yet. You won't be disappointed read more

*STOP DOING THIS!! USE BOTH LANES!!* As a Hoosier that briefly lived in the Bay Area and frequents Portland, Dutch Bros is the place I miss the most from the West Coast almost as much as I miss Pizza King while away from home. Incredibly friendly service that can literally brighten your day and smooth sweet goodness that makes up for the slight sting you feel in your wallet after treating yourself to a standalone coffee joint. I'll start with this particular location since I've seen a few complaints. I'm seeing several negative reviews about long lines and wait times, and from what I have seen, the Broistas and customers are equally to blame. I know that double-lane drive thrus like this are still pretty uncommon in Indiana, but please for the love of god use BOTH lanes. There aren't speakers to take your order, so a Broista will come out and ZIGZAG through both lines and take orders. This allows them to take a lot of orders at once so that they can efficiently make batches of milk, espresso shots, etc for the orders. Your drinks are not always made consecutively, car-by-car. The only time you will have someone take your order at the window will be if the weather is bad. Now on the Broista side, I'd like to see them correcting the line when it's going out the parking lot by redirecting or adding an additional Broista to take orders. They could be faster when it comes to actually making the drinks, but I am considerate of the fact that this location has only been open since late December 2025 and they are still working muscle memory. My only other minor complaint is that the music sometimes is a bit too loud at the window, and it can be hard to talk to them loud enough to hear me. The location is also perfectly neighbored to the Castleton Square Mall and Krispy Kreme, which would be perfect for some outdoor seating, but it may not be possible at this location. As for customer service, wow the management here knows how to pick 'em. While all of the employees are awesome, two of the Broistas in particular stand out for me, Angela and Demetrise. They always have a huge smile on their face, are incredibly sweet, make personable small talk, make sure to repeat my order back, and give freebies like stickers or other seasonal items. Now for the actual coffee itself. The reason why I prefer Dutch Bros out of the other franchises has to be the quality of the ingredients. The espresso is never bitter, both the Rebels and iced drinks are mixed well, and the star is their milk and soft top. I get mochas frequently, and the chocolate milk is next tier. Incredibly smooth and not too sweet. Most places just use chocolate syrup and the flavor can get a little too acidic. The soft top is a treat for me that you can't get it at many other places. Their "secret" menu flavors are on their app and easy to order. I really like all the seasonal drinks as well. Bonus points on the muffin tops, they are sizable and delicious. I only wish I could grab a breakfast sandwich while I visit, but I'm hearing they will start adding hot food items soon. All in all, thank the heavens above that Indy finally got Dutch Bros, and it's not too far from me. I am sad write this review. I am a dutch bros fan through and through... But today I went with my boyfriend and we were very excited to go. We wanted a kool blue rebel and a tigers blood lemonade. (I have to add the girl who took our order was sooo sweet and she was great!! didn't catch her name but she was a curly blonde) We waited in line for a while (obv expected, we aren't upset about that) We went to the window and it looked like only one person was working the line. I have to preface that they looked to be under staffed with no manger. We are not upset about that and we understand and have worked in customer service. We are upset because after receiving the drinks we noticed they were wrong. They were both a big mix up so we went back to get them remade. The girl who took our order apologized and handled it amazing. Now the other person inside.. not so much. They "apologized" under their breath and after pulling away the drinks were made wrong AGAIN in the same way. I was a little frustrated so I went to the window and said "hey this is supposed to be lemonade and this one is supposed to be energy" They replied with a snappy tone "well i have this whole line so it'll be a bit" I wasn't trying to make a scene so I left it and my boyfriend found the other girl and asked her to help us. She remade the drinks within a minute and apologized and this time guess what.. the drinks were made correctly!!!! She is a great employee and handled the situation great! For the other person. Maybe more formal training and to slow down. Im not here to give advice but something has to be done about this. We ended up with 6 drinks after. So unnecessary. I get it was a little rush but them rushing and not slowing down to read the proper ingredients needs to be addressed. SIX DRINKS IT TOOK!!!! Anyway I will be going again but just upset.
