I have been in the fish keeping hobby for my entire life and was able to make good conversation and find what I was looking for! I picked up 6 cpds and two pygmy cory's to add to my shoal of 4. They also have a wonderful variety of freshwater plants and fish. I have had a lot of difficulty finding many species that I've been wanting to stock my tank with, especially plants, and wanted to give this place a shot! The owners were very helpful, and explained to me the situation involving being let into the building stating they are both immunocompromised, so I understand where they are coming from. It doesn't hurt to call to let them know you'd like to stop in, next time I will wear a mask! Despite a lot of reviews about smell and uncleanliness (from circa over 5 years ago), I did not see or smell any such issue, and I am a bit of a clean freak in terms of smells associated with pets.

They always have what I need and have always been able to answer any questions or concerns I've had, highly recommend!

Pets Supplies Plus is a closer location but we always assumed it was more expensive than the big box stores so we never tried them. When faced with the pandemic's limited options, we tried Pets Supplies Plus and to our surprise they were the same price as the grocery and big box stores and their selection was much better. Occasionally they faced some shortages too but we seemed to always be able to find the wet food that our cats would eat. In the last year we have added a hamster and a cockatiel to our pet family. For these small animals, big box stores are limited to what they actually carry in the store. At Pet Supplies Plus, we were able to find bird feed, toys, cage attachments, etc. The hamster bedding can be purchased in bulk there and they have several selections of small animal food products, as well as vitamins, cage necessities and toys. Their prices have gone up in the last few months but we checked the grocery and big box stores again too and theirs went up as well. The selection at Pets Supplies Plus is still much better than the big box stores and we like that it is a shorter drive for us. You can also order online if you don't have a store near you. They also offer grooming and pet clinics if you have a dog. We've never used those services so we can't rate them but will say there are always pets in there getting trimmed up.

And she even was like yea I remember him from last time but I had another person to help that was stronger so idk if I can do it now so not like she just didn't know what kind of dog he was or that he was very strong.. there are notes on him and everything. absolutely ridiculous that I wasted an hour/ my day for that. Will never be bringing him again cause now idk who will be there and can't risk the drive.

This (chilly!) morning we had a really special opportunity to tour Kentucky Equine Adoption Center…read more(KyEAC) as part of Horse Country's community-based event: Meet the Neighbors. I'm SO happy this annual program has returned post-COVID! KyEAC is the largest all-breed equine rescue in Kentucky, situated on 72 rolling acres on Catnip Hill Road in Nicholasville. Right now they have 48 horses available for adoption, with 4 more on the way, and a waitlist a mile long. At any given time they have ~50% thoroughbreds, plus wild/feral horses, and horses from the strip mines of Eastern Kentucky. As a 501c3 nonprofit organization, part of their mission is to find the perfect home and purpose for every horse - whether as therapeutic companions, trail horses, or pasture ponies. On the tour - led by Susan Powers - we learned how KyEAC operates, met all the horses and heard their stories, and were treated to a short demonstration in the arena. I was floored. The staff and volunteers at KyEAC are doing amazing work advocating and caring for our most noble and precious symbols of the Bluegrass State. This tour felt much more impactful and important than the standard, showboat, multimillion dollar farms with active racehorses or breeding operations (which are fun, too, I've seen several!), and I would encourage anyone to book a tour (link below) with Horse Country and experience this wonderful place for themselves! https://visithorsecountry.com/book-your-tour/#id=kentucky-equine-humane-center-nicholasville
