I board her very regularly but the normal one was full, she has NEVER came home smelling or looking like this even after a week of kenneling. The smell was so strong I couldnt stand having my windows up or down, it just blew it around. I called and they did offer me a refund but I'm terrified she's going to follow suit of the other reviews and be sick. They offered to give her a bath if I brought her back which I kindly declined. I would not trust them with her again. She attempted to blame the smell on the fact it had rained but this isn't wet dog smell, it's pure urine. And on another note - they do not leash dogs when you drop them off or pick them up. It seemed odd when I dropped her off that I had to insist the girl leave a leash on because she wouldn't follow her without it. Then when I picked her up, a giant huskie was let out into the lobby completely unrestrained. This isn't safe and it's not appropriate. There could have been children, or other dogs, or anything that would make for a dangerous situation with an unknown and very large dog. I would NEVER recommend taking your pet here.

She had not been feeling well prior to going, but our veterinarian said it was gastroenteritis and prescribed medication, telling us that the kennel could administer the meds and she would be fine. As another reviewer said, she was supposed to have been given a bath on the day of pickup, and we were charged for the bath, but she smelled awful and was visibly dirty and greasy to the touch. We had to take her directly from the kennel to the pet store to give her a bath, with the kids complaining the whole way about how terrible she smelled. The hair on top of her head was so matted that it couldn't be brushed, and I had to trim it down to the skin. She has several other spots that we will have to let the groomer take care of once the hair on her head grows out enough to take her. My wife later called and was assured that she did, indeed, have a bath that morning. The medicine had instructions on the bottle and we verbally gave the employee the instructions when we dropped her off. She was to be given the medication until it was gone, which would have happened toward the end of the week. When we arrived, after they tried to give us the WRONG DOG, they gave us the medication bottle back and it still had pills left. After getting her home, it became clear that she was still not well. We took her back to our vet for an additional $250, where she was diagnosed with severe gastroenteritis and prescribed more of the same medication. After administering the medication properly, she is now back to her old self.

I used to live in Garrard County and would pass AHON on trips to/from Lexington. Between recognizing the name from my drives and a good friend's recommendation - I decided to take our 'kids' there. We started seeing Dr. Fox with my (2) transplanted cats who each lived to around 19 years old. We had to euthanize them (within a year apart) and I still feel - to this day - Dr. Fox's compassion. We then were adopted by a community cat who - once we moved him inside - discovered was FIV positive. Through AHON, I learned about caring for a FIV kitty and ended up adopting another FIV positive kitten through them. In 2011- we decided we were ready for a puppy and adopted a German Shepherd through the No Kill shelter in Lancaster. Just this past December we had to let my boy go and my heart still aches just writing about him (you will my beautiful boy on AHON's recently departed board). Again - the support for the hardest decision a pet owner has to make - from Dr. Fox and the entire AHON team - was unforgetable. They have a room specifically dedicated to saying goodbye and help you both before and after with the painful process. On the less emotional side of this review - I've always been able to easily schedule appointments and once there - have never felt rushed. The staff takes the time to educate me and enable me to best care for my 4-legged kids. We moved to Lexington 7 years ago and I still take them to AHON because I can't think of anywhere else I'd trust more with their lives. Thank you, Dr. Fox and AHON, for all you do.

My beagle, Thea, has completed two classes so far: the Manners Matter foundational training class and Intro to Scent Work. She is about to begin Advanced Scent Work, and she has also participated in the Canine Performance Club where we work on training homework, build conditioning and fitness, and introduce her to different performance sports. What stands out most about Manners Matter is their training philosophy. The environment is supportive and fear free, the classes are intentionally small, and the trainers are knowledgeable professionals who truly put the dogs' wellbeing first. They also take the time to explain the "why" behind the training, which has helped me become a better handler and better understand how my dog learns. One thing I especially appreciate is that Manners Matter focuses on building a strong foundation in dog training rather than rushing ahead and setting dogs and their owners up for frustration or failure. That thoughtful approach makes a huge difference and you can clearly see it in the confidence and progress the dogs develop over time. I have a beagle, and scent hounds can be independent thinkers that easily get themselves into trouble without the right structure and training. When I tell people I have a beagle, the common reaction is often "I could never have a beagle because they're loud, stubborn, and don't listen." I love when people meet Thea and see what consistent training can accomplish. My response is always that you get out of the situation what you put into it. Thea has had an incredibly positive experience in both obedience training and scent work classes, and I've watched her grow into a confident, well balanced dog. She is only a year and a half old and the progress she has made has been amazing. Good dog trainers you can trust with the care of your dog are not easy to find. I drive 45 minutes to attend classes at Manners Matter and it is absolutely worth it for the peace of mind and quality of training we receive. My goal is to be able to take Thea anywhere and know she has the temperament and skills to handle those environments, and this training has played a huge role in making that possible.

Worse yet, we pulled our boat out for repairs and came back to find a barge owned by the marina parked in our slip and we could not put our boat back in. All of this in spite of paying nearly $2,000 for an annual slip fee. Did not get even a half a year use as our slip was taken after paying upfront. There was no notification by the marina that they were confiscating our slip or to ask us if we were returning. Just had to pull our boat home and leave it during a beautiful late summer and fall. Just a highly disappointing experience.
