Many of the employees aren't particularly helpful, and there is a big disconnect between what the website says is available in store and what's actually there (the prices also tend not to match), so it can be frustrating to determine if it's worth going to or not if you need something specific. I also understand that many people love the option to bring their pets inside, but there have been multiple times that I've gone and encountered poorly behaved dogs and owners with little or no control that make it unpleasant (and dangerous on one occasion) to shop there. read more

After 10 years of being a customer at Pet Smart I will never go back. To be fair I have not had a problem until this recent visit. My dispute rises from being told I had to have my dogs tail shaven- had a few small mats- and shaving the tail was a requirement for grooming. I think this is a bit unreasonable- I should be able to make decisions for MY pet. The tail was shaven once in the past (to my surprise at pick-up) and took about 6 months for the fur to grow back. At check in there is an authorization sheet that states "in the event mats are found, you authorize PetSmart to shave the matted areas"- reasonable - but to shave the entire tail? I just wanted to decline the tail being shaven off. I waited a long time for this appointment and my dog ended up not receiving grooming and the entire experience was frustrating. read more

If you call to make an appointment for a regular nail trim they say you don't need appt, but when you go in they ridicule you for coming in when they're busy and not making an appt ahead of time!?!?! lose/lose either way, and that's not even counting the rude crassness of the 'lady' with a beard. read more

This is only for the grooming department. My little dog's grooming appointment at the Brannon Crossing location was canceled 45 minutes before the appointment. The woman who called kept stating that, with his many health concerns (?), they didn't feel comfortable grooming him and that they could give me the number for Kim, a groomer who has left Petsmart and works elsewhere, since "she had groomed him before, has that experience, and might feel more comfortable" (I'm paraphrasing). A Kim has never groomed my dog. I went back and checked all of his grooming appointments to be sure since I make the appointments online and can see who he is booked with. My dog absolutely has a collapsing trachea which I note on the form, but that just means he has to be harnessed slightly differently to take pressure off the neck. He's been going to the Hamburg Petsmart since 2017 with this issue, and the trachea thing has not been a problem to my knowledge. I moved and that's why I was going to Brannon Crossing instead. I kept pressing to get clarification about the multiple health concerns since that's not true, and she just kept repeating that his many health concerns meant they didn't feel comfortable and asking me if I wanted Kim's number. I took the number and hung up, very frustrated by the interaction. Not feeling comfortable grooming him is totally, totally valid - I wouldn't want anyone to feel uncomfortable, and they have the right to refuse service. She made that point, and it's true. Although I'm pretty annoyed I wasn't called earlier since I made the note about it when I booked weeks ago, that is a legitimate reason to cancel a grooming session. But if the groomer didn't feel comfortable grooming a dog with a collapsing trachea, just say exactly that directly to me, and tell me I need to find somewhere else from now on because this location does not have groomers comfortable grooming him. It's clear, and clear is kind. I'm upset because it seems more likely that they made a note about him last time he was groomed and didn't pass that along to me. If they were concerned about my dog's behavior or health and were refusing to groom him again, then I needed to be told at the end of the last grooming appointment. If he was misbehaving (he's a grumpy old man), then I can apologize for him being a brat, and I wouldn't have rebooked an appointment there. While the woman I spoke to on the phone today was polite and professional, I hung up the phone totally confused and frustrated because the reasons shared with me for their refusal weren't correct, and I wasn't getting any clarification when I tried to press further. A Kim has never groomed my dog, and she said, "...since Kim has groomed him before." My dog has only been to this location one other time. He doesn't have multiple serious health concerns, just the trachea issue, which many small senior dogs have and his previous Petsmart groomers have accommodated. It just didn't add up. So I'm now left trying to scramble to get my dog groomed. read more

Do not book with Bry*n!! Worst dog groomer I've found, he didn't even bother to shave my dog's tail or do the sanitary groom that is listed in their services, didn't groom my dog's face, and my dog even came home with eye boogers left on his eyes. Not to mention my dog came home in a bad mood for the first time ever (he loves getting his hair cut) and I couldn't understand why until I booked another appointment with An*a (she did an incredible job) and while I was there to pick up my dog from An*a I witnessed Bry*n being very mean to a dog that he was grooming. I wish I could leave a separate 5* review for Anna, however the grooming department overall at this nicholasville petsmart location is 1* on a good day. read more

I'm not the type to ever give a yelp review. As far as the pet salon goes, it's horrible. I only use the salon to get my dogs nails trimmed. I've never been able to get anyone on the phone for a good time to show up. When I do just show up, I'm ignored. I've stood there and they just stare at me without asking what I need. It's incredibly rude. The staff looks pissed almost all the time. I'm sure it's because they're constantly overbooked and over worked. Since I never know when I'll have the time to get her nails trimmed, same day walkin is necessary for me. I've started taking my dog to the Hamburg location (even though I live in Nicholasville). My favorite pet store ever! The staff is super friendly and helpful. I wish they had more discounted dog food, instead it's scattered amongst the shelves where you have to find it yourself. There is everything you need for your best furry friend! There's a great selection of pet supplies from apparel to toys and the essentials for grooming your pretty pet. I picked up flee and tick to carry over another month. They offer obedience classes which is definitely recommended since this puppy is a nipper and there are 3 children in the house. it looked like the grooming area was booming over the weekend so maybe weekdays work better. Before your first visit to the grooming area bring there vaccination records. I believe most groomers require that these days. read more

Just a heads up, the so called "groomers", refused to shave my Labradoodle because after this guy did an extremely thorough search of his coat he managed to find the only two mats which were located in his ears, he then proceeded to inform me, that even though I had booked way in advance and driven all the way across town, that they have a policy which states petsmart "groomers" cannot, in anyway "groom" a dog that has even one mat in his hair...wtf? He stated "blood would be everywhere", I thought omg, seriously! What a joke. So I took him to a real groomer who did a great job, there was no blood loss, and it cost less money. Worst register / checkout service ever! 8 people in line waiting. Store personnel having a "consulting conversation" with a customer at checkout - huge delay at checkout. Second register finally opens and employee was unable to operate the register. I finally walked out. No reason the "consulting conversation" could have been held away from checkout register so other customers to be served. I drive from Versailles to get the dog food I needed. I'm not too sure about the whole store itself but the grooming department is wonderful. I brought my baby there (cat) and i was so worried about him but he seems to be perfectly fine and calm. His nails are finally short and his hair is so fluffy. if you have a cat i highly recommended Kim. I asked if my dog could have his toenails trimmed and the the girl at the register said yes but off to the side a male said with a hateful tone to his voice said " No. it will be an hour or longer." If he had used tact when responding and said, I'm sorry but it will be an hour I would have been fine and understood. However with his tone I told him that is fine I don't have to use your service anyway. He then responded " that is fine. He doesn't realize that his tone cost his service a lot of business. My best friend frank got his first professional hair cut here and I couldn't have asked for a better person to do the job!!!! I was worried he is kinda timid and difficult to deal with at times!!!! She did such a great job bathing him and he even let her blow dry him which I never thought would happen!!!! But she pushed through and got the job done!!!! And I could tell after he was happy he went through with it !!! Even though he was difficult she was patient with Him! I'm not from around here and I might drive two hours next summer when I need to get his next hair cut!!! Frank was very proud of his new hair cut and I was proud of him and the lady I feel bad i. This is my one stop shop for pampering my fur babies. From grooming to obedience classes and of course the normal pet supplies, I recommend it all. This particular location is where we started obedience classes with Liz, I don't think she is there anymore but she was/is excellent. A lot of what I learned in the class taught me how be a pet parent. Erica who does the grooming for my girls, I highly recommend. All of the groomers get quite busy on the weekends, so try to schedule the grooming during the weekday. My only quarrel is the pricing isn't consistent. I bought a baby bearded dragon on July 14th 2020 from the Brandon crossing location well all seem to find got him home and a week after I got him he started showing signs of decline. And I called the store and got nothing but really rude remarks basically saying that oh you had two weeks to bring him back well you know what they're selling sick inbred bearded dragons there so do not buy one unless you want it to die within three weeks I studied herpetology off and on for the past 20 years and it ain't my first rodeo I've never seen anything like this very upset very very this place is crap they need to be shut down Peta needs to investigate these people. read more

Long time customer of PetSmart using Autoship for dog food delivery. PetSmart website allows for a "SEND ASAP" choice if you need to amend a delivery date which is then to be delivered in 24 hours. I chose the "SEND ASAP" option on 09/07/2021 so I should have had my dog food on 09/08/2021. Not surprisingly, PetSmart got their money as the withdrawal is showing in my bank account but I STILL do not have my dog food on 09/10/2021. I called my local store for help (Brannon Crossing, Nicholasville, KY) and was told that they could not help me as Autoship is handled by PetSmart Customer Service. Adding to the frustration of poor service, the store representative and store manager were not able to provide me with a phone number for PetSmart Customer Service. How is that possible??? read more

I needed a quick fix for my filthy dog, after a bungled appointment at another groomer. I called PetSmart, and they got my dog in in under an hour. Unlike other groomers, PetSmart checks vaccinations before accepting animals. I think this is great! Erica took care of me, and she was the very definition of "professional." She finished earlier than promised and was eager to communicate with me to ensure customer satisfaction. And... the service was cheaper than any other place I've found. Salon manager called me a liar and when I spoke to the store manager about her he simply said that he had no idea what was going on and that there was nothing he could Do about it. I love the people at PetSmart. They not only treat me like an important customer, they treat my dog, Darcy, like she's one too. She loves to go and walk the store, checking out the treats, toys, and other dogs. PetSmart's dog training classes are the best!! They teach dogs & owners the skills necessary to keep our furry family members safe and well behaved. I recently had a scare where Darcy got off her leash (my mistake) in the downtown area. She was within 2 feet of passing cars, but my knowledge and Darcy's training, allowed me to call her to me, and she immediately obeyed. The trainer at Brannon Crossing, Noreen Roberts, is the best I've ever met. She loves her students and their humans. Her lessons turned a heart-stopping moment into a wonderful example of how important the training programs are. I will be forever grateful. read more

I cautiously checked out Petsmart as a place to buy a pet rat. I've read all the horror stories online about Petsmart/pet store rats, but as there are no breeders or rescues in Lexington, this was my only option. I will first say that Petsmart's small animals aren't kept in the greatest of conditions. The cages are tiny and the animals are given exercise wheels far too small for them, which can cause spinal injuries and issues. The cages don't have the greatest ventilation, either. Further, they don't seem to know a whole lot about the animals they sell. For instance, they had no issue with me purchasing a single rat when they should really be sold in at least pairs to keep them from getting bored and depressed. They also didn't seem all that informed about the importance of selecting the proper litter for the rat's litter box. But that issue aside, I'm extremely pleased with my rat. He's a lot more sociable and friendly than I was expecting, and I was very surprised and pleased when I heard that the rest of their rats were being checked out by the vet before they could be sold. This was very reassuring. My rat is nowhere near as timid and defensive as I'd thought he'd be, and I'm making great strides in trust training him and getting him comfortable with me. I'll be buying another rat from here first chance I get. There was also an issue with a water bottle we bought here but we took it straight back and had a very painless, no questions asked exchange right at closing time. read more

On PetSmart's website, they are offering an additional $50 off if I purchase the aquarium online and then pick it up in the store (meaning, you pay online and then pick it up within 30 minutes). However, the website indicates the store does not have any in stock. I stopped by the location in Brannon Crossing and spoke to a manager named Dustin. He confirmed they did have two of those aquariums in stock, but he refused to sell one to me at the advertised price, stating it was against store policy to price match their website. I explained that I wasn't asking for a price match; I simply wanted that location's inventory updated on their website so that I could redeem the $50 offer. Not only did he refuse to do this, he instructed me to call customer service, which I did, and lodged a formal complaint. The customer service rep. explained that she could not update their inventory, that the manager would have to do it (again, which he refused to do for me). What kind of place does business like this? I will be loding a formal complaint with the ACLU, as well as with the FTC, in accordance with section 5 of the Ecommerce Regulations. read more

This is for the grooming alone. We have tried coming here multiple times, and we drive 40 minutes to get there. Once we were turned away for overbooking, and then today we were running late and tried calling multiple times and received no answer. There was a wreck and we were running late, so we did arrive there late for our appointment. But the groomer we had booked was just walking around the store, and it took her five minutes to finally come back in, and when she did she said we were trying to check in past the cut off point and would have to reschedule. We would have been there before the cut off time if she hadn't been away, but the worst part was that there were no dogs being groomed at all by that point. The other groomers were playing around. One was sitting in a bathing bucket while the others pushed her around. And then they say they don't have time to do her haircut? She's a 6 pound dog that just needed a bath and shave, which normally takes 30 minutes. Our groomer was supposed to be Claire, but obviously Claire couldn't care less about doing her job. The other Petsmart is much friendlier and actually cares about your pets, not how much they're getting paid to not do their job. read more

Can't say enough about how well they treated my nervous Puggle. I actually think she may have enjoyed herself! She also has skin issues and normally scratches and bites herself after a bath. I don't know if the products they use are better, or if they really took the time to dry her well (probably both), but she had no problems after her visit here. Walked in to buy a goldfish for my childrens fishbowl....yes, a simple 14¢ goldfish. The lady working the area seriously starts lecturing me about using a fishbowl (they sell these here!!) and kept trying to upsell me.
