Over that time, we worked with multiple veterinarians here and spent thousands of dollars, so we genuinely believed there was a level of mutual trust and respect. In the past, the clinic had shown some flexibility when large bills came up, which we appreciated as loyal, long-term customers. However, our most recent visit completely changed our perception. We were quoted $254 for routine blood and urine testing, which is already on the higher side. When we asked for just a couple of days to settle the payment--something that had been accommodated before--we were unexpectedly refused. Instead, we were pressured at the front desk to apply for a credit line on the spot, and we were not allowed to leave until we addressed the payment situation. The experience felt incredibly uncomfortable, forced, and frankly disrespectful. After years of loyalty and significant financial commitment, being treated this way was shocking. It felt like the clinic no longer values its long-term clients and has shifted toward a rigid, impersonal, and customer-unfriendly approach. Between the high pricing and the way this situation was handled, we've decided to take our business elsewhere. This was, without question, one of the worst experiences we've had at any veterinary clinic. We will not be returning.

I have had several animals vetted there prior to change in ownership and they were wonderful. Even helped me with my semi feral cat who gets bad allergy breakouts. They vetted him by picture and it worked. Otherwise, I have to trap the poor kitty with a coon trap. New vet won't prescribe the medication (saying it's illegal / a steroid) unless he is seen. Won't to do it with pictures even though we've been treating him for years this way (he's indoor for 9 years but still won't be picked up). So the cat gets to suffer OR be mentally anguished by being trapped. I guess the original vet wasn't worried about jail time. He was worried for the animal. Will be taking ALL my animals elsewhere going forward.

The staff was so friendly and of course Shadow was his charming self until it came to the exam lol. They were gentle with him and gave him plenty of treats afterwards . His Doctor was friendly and very enthusiastic about Shadow being in such good shape . He has nice teeth , clean ears, clear lungs . Knowing all of this made me relax more. He got a clean bill of health with the exception that he's FIV positive. Shadow is the only cat in our house and he's strictly a indoor cat. Even with that he can and will live a full life . One of the ladies did agree with me that he looks like he's part Russian Blue. In terms of cost the initial exam was free because we adopted him from LHS . I did pay for some additional testing and I think it was a fair price . Shadow does have pet insurance for those just in case moments hopefully they'll be none of those. Shadow will continue to to there for check ups and future shots .

The office is clean and has the appropriate equipment to care for the pets. I like that they are respectful of the pet parents and don't push treatments. Cruel, Greedy, and apparently Incompetent…read more Our little cat had been struggling with a hyperthyroid problem, was on medication for months and showing little improvement. He was extremely skinny. He had a few very bad days and on his last morning he had crawled into his bed and was barely breathing. He stayed like this for hours but seemed peaceful. We hoped that he would just sleep and pass away. After not moving for most of the day, with very shallow breaths and glazed eyes he began to have severe muscle spasms. We realized that he was not going to go easily and did not want our young granddaughter to witness this. Our regular vet was not available. Over the past 50 years we have had many pets and had to have a few euthanized. It's heartbreaking but had never before left us feeling disgusted. We took Kitty to Bluegrass Emergency Clinic. A staff member took him to another room while we waited. Another staff member came in and explained that the cost would be $265. This seemed extreme compared to our previous experiences of perhaps $65 but we were able to pay the cost. Kitty was brought back to us, wrapped in his towel, with a bandage around each front leg and an IV attached. We got to say a final goodbye and the doctor administered a few separate injections. The whole process seemed strangely complex. Kitty was returned to us in a box and we brought him home for burial. I received a detailed invoice by email: Quality of life exam - $71.25 (Apparently the doctor couldn't tell that this was a poor dying kitty) Catheter placement and Catheter - $51.25 Euthanasia and Euthasol - $128.35

I was there for 3 hours, although not ideal to spend that long at the vet, I wouldn't do it anywhere else with any other team. The staff are so kind and flexible with travel changes (if you need to pick up earlier or stay an extra night) which is really helpful when flying. They have a great pre-check feature where you can give a lot of detail on your dog's stay. I typically send toys that I don't mind losing just as a precaution, but they've never lost anything I've sent with my dog and everything comes back neatly packed in his bag. I don't worry about my baby at all while he is at Uptown.

Went to a doc in Cynthiana was told what the damage was and I needed an orthopedic surgeon. They said there was no one locally that did that kind of surgery. I could go to Cincinnati or Louisville or there is one that travels to Georgetown periodically that they would put me in touch with. They said it would be expensive $4500+ and it would be 2 weeks before he could do it. If I couldn't afford it then they said I could do nothing and it would just hang there with no use or amputate! I refused to believe there was no one else!! Lexington?! Really?!? So in a panic I started calling vets to see if I could get referrals for a vet that does orthopedic surgery and I got several diff referrals and was waiting for callbacks when I called the Animal Care Clinic in Lexington. Lori answered the phone right away and was so kind and helped calm me down then she said "let me call the Dr and I will call you right back." I sent her images for Bailey's leg and figured it would be awhile but within 5 min she called me back and said "the Dr said come in the morning and he will take a look and that he thought he could help her." I literally cried! The next morning I walked into the office. I was amazed!!! There wasn't room full of people and their pets in an overcrowded waiting room. It was like walking into a very nice hospital! It was decorated so nicely! It was clean and organized! I immediately was greeted by Ms. Christina at reception and she took me straight to a room. Lori came in and then Dr. Schroyer. He examined Bailey and sat down and explained her injury, how he would repair it, recovery time etc. I was worried it was going to be a fortune but he was so much more affordable! It made it possible for us to afford it. The surgery went great. We went home and the office would call periodically to check on her progress between follow-up visits. Animal Care Clinic was the ABSOLUTE BEST clinic I have ever been to!! Working with rescues I have seen quite a few clinics so I can say with confidence you will not be disappointed with Animal Care Clinic!!! We stop by just to say hi when we're are in Lex!!
