I just wanted to send this to extend my appreciation My baby DJ was put to rest there and it was the worst day of my life, not only did I have to make the decision to put my baby down, but my best friend, my child, my heart But you all made it so comforting to me, your caring hearts and empathy exceeded my expectations! You made the worst day of my life more bearable and I appreciate you all very much! You all are so kind, caring, knowledgeable, honest and I would recommend anyone to you for care

Out of the two 24 hour vets in town, this is the preferred vet. They have higher pricing than our regular vet, but so do emergency rooms compared to our physician. We still have to go here and there. They communicated fairly well with us in terms of how they want to care, and later, how they cared. As for the three stars .. the place is crazy understaffed. The time we were in we were told a 2-3 hour wait and there were 3 other families waiting to check in. No one came out to greet them or check them for 30 min. The next morning the vet tech brought my cat out and I noticed something that needed to be rechecked. She took her back and said they are very understaffed right now so it'll be a wait. I get when a place is left in a bind. The downside is that there are animals coming in who may not have a 30 minute wait to be seen, let alone a 2-3 hour wait. They truly care about your animals. I would expect them to be proactive and have vets on call or an extra vet hired. Maybe lack of talented vets in the area? That is something to consider. I also included photos of their adorable office cat and snack bar.

Don't trust these money grabbing sickos. My dog was attacked while we were out of town and he spent 3 or 4 hours in their office with a gaping piece of his flesh tore off. They gave him pain meds. They didn't give him any antibiotics. They didn't suture the wound or even bandage it. They left him in there waiting for me to make a decision and they scared me that he was dying. They said he needed to be put into an oxygen tank of some sort and tht he had brain damage and his eyes weren't reacting. They made me think he had no chance. As soon as I saw him I knew that he was shaken but that he was doing fine and they were trying to scare me into a $2500 dollar plus bill where they did a ton of unnecessary things and made the biggest bang for their buck. They didn't even have the decency to bandage him up until I asked them to before taking him home so he could see his vet. They charged us 600 dollar for an X-ray, Ultrasound, and one pain shot and didn't even have the decency to bandage him. Sad people work here that do not care about animals. They care about money. His vet patched him up for 400 dollars and he's running around the house right now the day after. The lady who discharged said he would likely go down fast in the middle of the night and to be prepared for him to need to come back. Really sad. I wouldn't take any animal here, they would probably be better off just dying at home.

A few years back I had good care at AAC, so I'm very disappointed to report that this is no longer…read morethe case. My cat escaped the house and was attacked by a dog. He was seen by a local veterinarian, but had complications to his breathing one night and we rushed him to AAC. The care there was VERY inconsistent. Some of the vets and techs were good and others were not. This inconsistency of care and transfer of information was a huge problem. After a few days of care, they ended up calling us in the middle of the night, put us on hold for 5 minutes where I was just panicking, and then insisted he needed to be euthanized. They also told me they weren't providing basic care they promised like draining his bladder. We rushed there and were hard sold on euthanizing him based on information I later found to be incorrect, if not an outright lie. So now my cat is dead, and I am questioning so much of what happened. After a couple of weeks, I left a clear review voicing my concerns on another review site. Nothing mean. Nothing out of hand. I would hope they'd take my concerns to heart. I must have struck a nerve, because they followed up by sending me a letter that basically said (paraphrasing), "Sorry your cats is dead, but you left a bad review so now you are banned from all of our practices." I've NEVER heard of such behavior from a vet, and I'm still shocked. It feels like the intent was cruelty, and not something you would expect from a vet that truly cares about animal welfare. Go here if you must, but be careful.

There's nothing worse than having a sick pup. Well, actually, there is. A sick pup in the middle…read moreof the night. Blue Pearl is an emergency animal hospital that's open 24/7/365. There's a staff of several vet assistant, one or two veterinarians and office staff. It's advised to call ahead to let them know you're coming. Depending on the severity of your pets illness (I must acknowledge they treat cats, too), you can wait anywhere from 30 minutes to 4 hours before being seen. Seriously sick animals get priority status. The waiting area is clean and comfortable. There's complementary water and coffee along with a reasonably priced vending machine with various snacks. They even offer phone chargers n case you forgot to bring one. Pricing is on the high side. But what wouldn't we pay when our pet is ill? Our little guy isn't out of the woods yet, but we're comforted in knowing he's getting the best care possible. If he comes home feeling better, I'll bump BluePearl to 10 stars.

I told the vet tech and doctor that my dog was poisoned but they claimed gastrointestinal. I explained researching the medicine and it killing ither dogs and cata. My dog was in shock and poisoned. For three hours, I thought she was receiving life-saving treatment. The doctor left to grab a paper then never came back and sent in the vet tech. Then the vet tech mentioned there was a real emergency that she had to use my payment paper for. My dogs poisoning wasn't taken seriously and so we left. Only to rush back as she was dying hours later. Had staff taken me seriously, my baby girl would still be alive. The morning staff at 4am were wonderful and wish they would have been the staff available when we drove an hour the first time that day before. I called the toxicology hotline to open a case and speed up her emergency treatment. The hotline was pointless and refused to believe a Flea + Tick medicine went to her bloodstream. I explained how every symptom from Flea + Tick poisoning (that my other dog had also experienced) was happening, they didn't take me serious and kept trying to find another reason for her seizures, tremors, vomiting, swollen organs, diarrhea, etc. My vet sent me to Blue Pearl saying they would treat her for being poisoned and in shock. This was not the case. We were there three hours before they apparently got ahold of the hotline. Which, why would you wait when a dog is dying? The hotline, once again, as I told them, didn't recommended anything for poisoning. They kept saying my dog was an old girl, as if ther way she was acting was due to her age. She was extremely healthy and agile prior to thirty minutes before receiving the Flea + Tick medicine. Please, if you go to BP, advocate for your animal and if its over toxicology, request immediate treatment or your dig could die waiting for the hotline they require to give unhelpful advice.

It was explained that we arrived at change of shift, so understandable. My biggest issue I was sleepy because I did not sleep well due to concern about dog, so the wait felt long. We are traveling, staying in Bardstown, and had a medical concern we wanted our golden doodle to be evaluated for. The Bardstown vets recommended Metropolitan. Reading some of the reviews here on Yelp, we had concerns. Having said that, other than the extended wait, we were very pleased. When the physician on duty spoke to us never felt rushed, explained everything, and patiently answered all our questions. The technician also was very patient. Service on the phone before our arrival until discharge was friendly, courteous and professional. The facility was clean and welcoming. The location is convenient from the highway with plenty of parking. Thankfully, nothing serious with our dog. The diagnostic tests were on the expensive side (multiple X-rays) but hopefully our pet insurance will reimburse most of the costs.

During her 18 hours there, we did not feel she received the level of treatment her condition required. After she passed over 7 weeks ago, our Vet has made MULTIPLE attempts to contact the facility for answers. To date, Dr Smith still has not discussed the treatment provided to our Snowbird with our vet. The treatment notes provided during her 18 hours in their care, doesnt truly add up to a level of care we had expected. Losing our pet was heartbreaking, and the lack of communication has made the situation even more difficult for our family. We believe Metropolitan Veterinary Specialists had tunnel vision and assumed our girl had mass cell cancer throughtout her body and did not see the underlying issue of Muococele that required hitting her hard with steriods. We hope this clinic takes a more indepth look at their patient care and improve the level of care they provide to their patients which should include clear upfront communications. There needs to be immediate improvements so other families do not have to go through a similar experience. We have lost faith in the level of services provided by this facility and warn other families to be aware.
