PLEASE READ! If you are looking for a compassionate, responsive, reliable veterinarian that isn't all about the money...DO NOT USE CENTRAL KENTUCKY VET CLINIC!!! After going to this vet for years with multiple animals I made an appt. to have my 16 year old Labrador euthanized. The appt. was made on Friday July 16th for 10:30 am on Saturday July 17th. I paid in full for all services and cremation, at the time the appt was made. Upon waking on Saturday and realizing that my dog was in the active stages of dying and suffering terribly I called Central Ky Vet to ask if she could be brought in earlier, as I didn't want her to continue suffering so. I was told to bring her in at 9:30 am. I arrived at the clinic at 9:25 am, checked in, and was told someone would be out. I proceeded to wait in my truck for over an hour with my dog in the back seat. I went inside three separate times and begged someone to come to my dog's aid...no one came! Then I was informed that, unbeknownst to me, they had cancelled my original 10:30 appt.! Still no one came! Finally, an off duty vet happened to pull up. I explained to him what had occurred and pleaded with him to help my blessed dog. He went inside, gathered the necessary supplies, and within 5 minutes my dog was out of her misery and pain. My dog laid in the back of my truck for an hour and a half actively dying, in excruciating pain! When all was said and done, I received not one single apology, no mention of a discount of the services I had already paid for...much less a refund, and after calling once I arrived home to obtain all records for all of my animals I was rudely hung up on by Sheila. Furthermore, the exact same experience occurred with another of my dogs less than four months earlier at this same vet! There is simply no excuse for the blatant lack of concern and compassion that both I and my dogs went through. The lack of professionalism, and shear incompetence of this clinic is staggering to me! To be traumatized to this degree and to have my precious babies to be treated so inhumanly is simply inexcusable. My precious "best friend" of 16 years did not deserve that! Please, if you love your fur babies and want humane, compassionate treatment...DO NOT GO TO CENTRAL KENTUCKY VET CLINIC! Save yourself the heartache and grief! Central Kentucky Veterinary Center houses some of the kindest, most patient, caring vets and techs I know. Do not listen to the negative reviews about wait times. They are busy at times and waits can get long, sure, but if you look at clinic availability in the area you can see why. There aren't that many vet centers in Georgetown (or on the North side of Lexington). Further, I hope you keep in mind that if the staff is busy they are genuinely busy trying to assist and animal that is in much worse condition than your own. The amount of times they have squeezed us in with no notice (yes, with a wait) to check on our beloved dogs is many. In those times they have never showed anything but patience and kindness to us or our dogs. They answer questions and give health advice kindly and thoughtfully. Their top concern is the health of your pet. Pricing is extremely fair to what I've experienced in the area and a friendly reminder that if you cannot afford vet care, you cannot afford a pet. They work hard, care a lot, and it shows. We have taken all three of our dogs there and they are also blood donors at the clinic. The clinic is clean and the staff is wonderful. I have been incredibly disappointed by this clinic which used to be a good place to go. In the past 3 months I've had my cat there 3 times and each time been told oh inflammation in the gut is normal as cats get older. No tests just keep pumping him with steroids snd antibiotics. Take him for a second opinion because he's lethargic, hiding and not eating only to find out he has cancer. The receptionist staff has been incredibly rude to my husband as well. read more

On 10/27 my dog was taken in to have a nasal scope performed. We were given a quote in the pre op appointment, to which my husband and I had agreed on. In the pre op drop off they explained that if they found anything or if anything was going to change with the procedure, they would notify. While waiting in the room, I asked how the nasal scope went and they explained the nasal scope was not performed at all, that they ended up finding a tooth that was missing and the hole where the tooth was had been impacted with a lot of debris. They explained how they placed a mucosal flap and that there would be discharge for a couple of days. There was never a phone call during the time he was sedated, stating that the procedure was changing and/or that they'd be going a completely different route; which ended up being double the expense that we were expecting to pay. After the procedure was completed he ended up sneezing and blood was coming out of his nose. I asked if this was normal and was told this was the discharge they were talking about. I asked what was considered "abnormal" and was told to bring him back only if blood was pouring from his nose. I called multiple times because there was a lot of blood, even though it wasn't pouring out of his nose, it was still worrisome. They just kept saying that it was normal. I also called stating that he wasn't eating or drinking, so they prescribed a non steroidal anti-inflammatory stating that would help him eat. He eventually stopped bleeding and all was well. Fast forward two weeks, my dog starts bleeding again. I called on a Saturday and the on call doctor stated that it was normal for the bleeding to stop and start again due to healing process but he wasn't 100% sure just because he had never done a procedure like that. They stated that the doctor who did the procedure would call me on Monday. Monday comes around and Dr called me back stating that it was absolutely abnormal for him to start bleeding again. I asked if it was possible that the flap had been dislodged or missing, he stated no that the flap and spot should be completely healed and that it sounds like he has Von Willebrands disease and that I need to get bloodwork completed to rule that out. The Dr never suggested I bring him in just to check to see if the procedure that was completed was in fact healed, just to make sure. The next day he stopped bleeding again and all was well again. Then, a couple of weeks later he started bleeding, again. I called to make a follow up appointment on a Sat and the on-call doctor saw him. He opened his mouth to find that the flap was not there and that he was bleeding from the hole. They ran a CBC to find out that he had no platelets left in his body, which lead the Dr to do heart work and Lyme disease tests because he stated that Von Willebrands doesn't attack the platelets like this. All the test came back negative. I asked what could be done to raise the platelets, Dr. stated that there really is nothing that can be done to get the platelets to come up. My dog was prescribed an ATB and a steroid and I was told I needed to come back in 10 days to get a blood redraw. I sat in the parking lot, looking up home remedies on how to get my dog's platelets to come up. I ended up calling the vet back to ask if there was a way to get refunded for the procedure because there was ZERO follow up suggested from the vet, just to make sure the flap was healing like it was supposed to be, which could have potentially prevented my dog's platelets from drastically dropping like they had. I was talked to very rudely from the Dr. who completed the procedure and was told that no refund would be issued, that everything was completed properly during the procedure. Not once was there discredit to the Dr that completed the procedure. The issue was/is the lack of follow up, concern and compassion. We wasted a lot of money because of their failure to follow basic follow up procedures. read more

Couldn't get my regular vet to fit Storm in after he was at attacked and had a gash on his leg. I was referred to this vet location by friends after trying to get into any vet within 35miles. I ended up calling the central Kentucky vet and they told me to come right in and they'd help my stormy out. I drove 47min to get here and made the best decision. The greeted us with kindness and understood when I was feeling overwhelmed not knowing what would happened with my dog. I will continue to drive out here after the best experience I've had with a vet clinic. read more

On Thursday a couple of neighbor dogs got lose from their pen. They came over to our house and attacked my yellow lab Winston, who was in the back yard. Unfortunately, I wasn't home when it happened. Winston received two wounds on his back left leg area. I took him to Central KY vet on Saturday morning. Our appointment was for 730am. We got in the doors around 720am and we were placed into a room at 735am. The vet saw Winston immediately and checked his wounds. Winston got his wounds cleaned, received antibiotics, and pain meds. The total time at the vet was approximately 1 hour. My bill for the visit was - $257. The bill included cleaning the wounds (there were two), antibiotics, a cone, sedative and pain meds. The place was clean and well staffed. The staff is always friendly. The vet seemed knowledgeable. Tip: make an appointment, unless it's an emergency. It's only my opinion but the head cone doesn't work on very active dogs. Well see. 11-14-2018 *** 3 stars. Took our dog "Stonewall" to CKVC in Georgetown, KY. He developed a large mass on his chest area. He is an 11 year old chocolate lab. Our appointment was for 9am and we were placed in a room at 8:54 after arriving a couple minutes early. The Vet saw us at 9:01. The place was clean n as usual, the staff was friendly. The estimate to remove the mass was $737.51. That seems really high for just removing a small mass. I paid $33.92 for the vet visit today. I scheduled an another appointment to have the mass removed for Monday morning. I will take a day and look for a better deal or I might cancel the appointment all together. I will update my post when I decide. 3-23-2019 update review. I'm back to 5 stars lol. Our beloved dog, Stonewall, passed on March 10th. The diagnosis I received from both veterinary services advised his cancer was terminal and operating would (maybe) prolong his life. We decided not to have surgery and Stonewalls cancer grew quickly. Sad, but he wagged his tail to the end. Tip - There is a great Animal Hospice Service in Lexington. Yes, I said hospice. This vet office is some of the worst customer service I have ever received. Very rude on the phone and not willing to cooperate with their customers. To top it off, my pet was not properly treated after being with them for a week and now having to be treated for another week at a different vet after this vet told me my dog was ready to go home. We have five rescue dogs, one of which is a small Shih Tzu. She weighs about 12 pounds and is about 12 years old. She was found abandoned about a year and a half ago and she required extensive medical care, which we got from our vet in Georgia. A few days ago, I noticed that Georgy was lethargic and not eating, and her body seemed very warm. I am currently in Frankfort, KY, so I called several vets to try to get her in, but everyone was booked solid. One office recommended that I contact Central Kentucky Veterinary Center in Georgetown. They took her in immediately, did bloodwork and other diagnostics, and found that her liver enzymes were off the charts! They kept her for two days and administered fluids. Syringe fed her, and watched over her. I brought her home today. I'm not sure she's out of the woods, but she is definitely doing better. Dr. Weakley called me each morning and each afternoon. When I would call them very late at night to ask how she was doing, they were always kind and compassionate. Everyone on the staff was amazing! I was nervous when I wanted to pay the bill today. With five dollars, I bet the vets fairly often. So I'm pretty familiar with costs. The bill was about half what I thought it would be! It was an absolutely fantastic experience. As I'm in this area, I will continue to use them. If I were to move here, they would be my new vets! read more

Being new to being fur parents, it's a little overwhelming the amount of vets there are between Lexington & Georgetown. I just wanted to take our girl to the right one. After consulting one of my dearest friends, this was one of the places she recommended. Being less than a a 5 minute drive from the house didn't hurt either. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The facility is incredibly clean. Our first visit within 10 days from getting her from LHS, Dr. Kirkland was her vet and she was not only helpful be very thorough with any and all questions I had. Our follow up visit today was just as delightful (she has a follow up booster shot). They are open after 5pm by appointment and on the weekends. I definitely feel as though they have been the best choice for us. read more

BUYER/PET OWNERS BEWARE!! Unethical DR A Scott Weakley ignored results from tests he ran, my cat had to be euthanized 6 days later My cat didn't benefit from the 400$ visit! IN FACT SHE DIED DUE TO THIS VISIT! I will start with the worst part of my complaint first. I brought my cat (same one in my profile picture) to see Dr A Scott Weakley on 12-27-2020. at Central Kentucky Veterinary Center 111 Southgate Dr Georgetown, KY 40324 Due to Dr A Scott Weakley ignoring the obvious signs and levels from the tests run, and not giving my cat fluids to flush her kidneys, I had to euthanize my cat 6 days later on January 2, 2021, at another vet. "Had Dr A Scott Weakley simply flushed her kidneys like the test results screamed for him to do, she would be alive right now." {Exact quote from other vet who was so angry reading the results and looking at the padded bill! That gave no mention of the obvious need for emergency fluids to flush her kidneys!} She was appalled fluid weren't even offered! She said even "visually it was obvious my cat desperately needed fluids!" Instead he ran a whole bunch of other tests to run up the bill. He never informed me of the amount the tests would come to before the fact. Acted in a bullying way and even screamed at me that I didn't want to pay my bill. When I was simply caught off guard to be presented with a $450.00 vet bill. I have never been to a vet that didn't inform the client upfront of the costs, especially when it would go higher than 1 or 2 hundred dollars. This vet is also VERY unsanitary as I could hear him leave one room, and walk right into our room, and wouldn't wash his hands, and would treat my cat, then would walk out of our room and walk right into another room, over and over. Nothing will bring my cat back. I thought it would be courteous/the right thing to do, to warn other future potential customers to this vets office. First that all they care about is money. Second they will not look out for the best interest of the animal, and do what is best for and will save the animal. Third you can spend a lot of money on tests with them but if the staff doesn't have the education to see what the results mean it is of no help to the animal and is essentially wasted life and money. Fourth BUYER/PET OWNERS BEWARE!! just go to another vet office, this one is bad news and they simply doesn't care about anything except money. I will post this truthful review everywhere possible in hopes of warning any and all future potential customers to this vet of my experience. I will also contact the BBB and the vet board to be sure they know the full story and see the test results for themselves and how Dr A Scott Weakley FAILED to act in best interest of my cat! Over the past 8 years, we have used them for all types of needs. From cleaning the ears of our puppies to euthanizing our long time pet; compassionate, cost effective, and professional service was always received. I love this vet. We have been taking our 2 rottweilers there for years. My oldest rottweiler had some medical issues and they have always been able to take care of him and provide him relief for whatever pain he might have. Very affordable and good hours. Great staff and affordable. We are newer to Lexington so we haven't established a vet yet- when one of our cats got sick Central Kentucky Vet came highly recommended. They took us in same day which was great- they have extended hours that are perfect to accommodate work/school schedules. Our cat didn't have anything major and they didn't take an opportunity to run us through a ton of expensive diagnostics. They eventually located them but were rude about returning them via mail. I paid my bill in full at pickup, but a few days later received a bill for more stating I was incorrectly charged! I went in to buy an over the counter pet med that a buddy had told me about. I called to make sure it was in stock and when I got there I walked up to the counter and asked about it. I showed her the picture and she asked "if I was a client" to which I said "I was in the past" to which she looked up at me like I said something wrong. She then said" well, sent's it vet strength we can't provide it to you, it's just like a prescription" to which I said "but it's not a prescription" to which she said "well, it's like one and we need to do an exam before we can sell that to you" to which I said "my dog has been diagnosed, I just want to try this to see if it helps him" to which she said nothing.... I then said "so, I can't buy this without spending even more money" and she said "yes, you will have to pay the exam fee plus any tests the vet orders " to which I said "but, I can buy it off your site (via pet source) with no prescription" and she again said nothing. I then just walked out. Go there if you got the extra money and don't need it. I ordered off vet source NOT via their site because I will not fund crooks. To CKVC, you are supposed to help the animals that are our family, some of us take it personal when you try to make a quick buck off their pain. read more

I have been a pet owner all of my life and a veterinary nurse for 18 years. I cannot say enough about how wonderful ALL of the staff is here!!!! I moved here from Ohio about four years ago and was terrified about finding someone new to deal with emergencies for my four fur babies. You see, I still drive them almost two hours each way back to my vet, whom had been my vet and employer for almost two decades for all wellness checks. Then it happened. I needed a vet, and fast. I was first introduced to Central Ky by a referral at the business where I was working as a tech and dog trainer. They told me to come right up even though I was new and they were fully booked. The office staff is caring and sensitive and professional. I was so impressed with the entire staff in fact, I hesitantly began bringing my dogs and cats to them for more things AND they were much, much less expensive than my own vet , including my discount!! Most importantly. When I have questions and concerns, and believe you me I have many, and frequently!. Each Dr spends as much time with me and gives me their full attention, techs too! Jane is my favorite, although they are all fantastic! I have a male shepherd mix who gets very scared and aggressive only at the vet and requires sedation when we go. They don't muzzle him. They give him his sedative, and wait however long it takes, which is much longer than it should, until he is sedated and then take a small piece of soft pantyhose and tie it around his mouth and back of his head for some added safety. It's me who asks for a slip muzzle when I see he's sedated but still going to attempt to put up a fight!! They are so beyond patient. They love their clients and I when I had to put my 20 year old cat down Dr. Bollinger gave my Vigo extra sedation , at my request , even though I knew he was completely knocked out, bc it made me feel better. I always have my fur babies cross their rainbow bridge at home whenever possible and they will do that for you as long as one of the vets can get away and for an extremely reasonable price. I was just there last night with both of my dogs. I also have a purebred AKC gorgeous female black GSD who they all fuss and love over. She's just a pet. No breeding or showing, but every client is a VIP there!!! I am beyond thrilled to have found them and please do you and your pets a favor and go here as they go above and beyond the call of duty !! One last thing, and this is the most important thing to me. The doctors will not push any norm or agenda on you. They absolutely will talk with you ,at length about what is best for YOUR pet's situation AT THAT TIME. That is a rare find!!! Thanks for letting me tell you about them!!!
