I tried very hard to keep myself from writing this review. I slept on it for several days and then realized it was something I had to do. Dr. George Sutton was highly recommended to me by 2 close friends. My cat was older and in failing health. Dr. Sutton was gracious enough to work us in even though we were not a previous patient. My husband took him to the first appointment and Dr. Sutton was great. There wasn't a whole lot he could do for my cat, but he prescribed a few medicines and was honest in that they probably wouldn't save him. I respected the honesty and kept a close eye on my cat the following night and morning. The next morning, his health had declined tremendously and we called Dr. Sutton and he again, told us to come right over. I knew that he would be putting my Patches to sleep. I was extremely upset at the thought of losing my cat, as most people would be. Dr. Sutton took us into his office and began preparing to put Patches to sleep. Twice, while administering medication, Dr. Sutton told me to "Get out of his face because if he bites you I'll have to cut his head off and send it to Frankfort." That seems like an incredibly inhuman thing to say to someone who is losing a beloved pet. I understand his point but it feels like there has to be a better way to get that point across. Also, once my Patches went to sleep, I had to help him put him in a garbage bag and tie him up. Again, I know this is a task that had to be done, but it seems inhumane to ask a person who is mourning the loss of a pet to put their cat in a trash bag. I tried to let most of this go, as best I could. Last week, I got Patches ashes back from Dr. Sutton. His ashes were in a beautiful box and they had made his paw prints into the shape of a heart. The crematorium is very thoughtful to do that for people. The back of the heart was inscribed with Patch and the date. I was SO disappointed that this sweet heartfelt last memento, was inscribed with the wrong name. It felt like Dr. Sutton didn't care enough to even get Patches name correct. I truly feel like Dr. Sutton took a terrible situation and made it much worse. I couldn't in good faith recommend Dr. Sutton to anyone due to the nature of his care during the last moments of my cats life. read more
