Do not call Jay. Jay (or Jason) has problems with his personal life which. So he is drinking constantly alcohol during the day every day. He took my motorcycle in June and promised to fix or replace forks, seals, sprocket, change oil and fix plastic. And said he'll do it in 3 to 7 days I didn't bother him for 3-5 weeks. Then he was hiding from me obviously being in the house, he would promise other dates to finish the job. His phone would be off %60 of the time. He had tons of excuses like "my mom or my dad died" (you can find same type of reviews in Yelp on this page as well) Super unresponsive. In 2 and a half months he gave me my motorcycle with absolutely NOTHING done and returned my money. Motorcycle's condition was even worse now. He also forgot to put back some parts and I had to come back and pick them up I would not write this as I feel sorry for the guy, but people need to know what they are getting in to. read more

In an attempt to save some money, I bought a used exhaust for my 2015 FZ-07. Unbeknownst to me, the installation would turn out to be an absolute nightmare. I managed to get the stock exhaust off fairly easily, but holding the new exhaust in place while trying to get it to fit into the various mounting points was incredibly difficult. I tried on and off for weeks, but wasn't able to make any progress. Out of frustration, I called Jay to stop by and take a look. 30 minutes later, he was at my door ready to get to work. Within 45 minutes, we were able to disassemble the exhaust, mount it, and finish up the install. He had all of the requisite tools on hand which made things incredibly smooth. Needless to say, I was beyond satisfied with my experience. Would recommend Jay to anyone on the west side who is sitting with a bike in their garage waiting for a miracle to get it running again. I originally called Jay to come by and help me fix a flat tire on a Tuesday. He came by the same day to take a look. We agreed on a price and i paid him up front. After he removed the tire 2 days later After 3 more days he finally replaced the 'fixed' tire. Turns out it wasnt fixed and was still leaking air. So basically it took him almost a week you fix my flat and it wasnt fixed. I bugged him for 2 weeks to come by again And refix the tire. He still hasn't. This guy Is a complete dirt Bag. His name is Jay Schwartz. I had brought a completely running and working street legal Husky so he could customize it. He had done my brothers bike, and actually finished the work. So I thought why not bring my bike here to get worked on. He is a complete liar, thief, and manipulator. I would periodically check on my bike to see the work. No work had been done for months. He kept promising it would be finished time after time. I'm a 33 year old woman and had to deal with this on my own, until I spoke to everyone about him in Venice who confirmed he is a complete liar and all around terrible person. Days before his shop closed, he told me my bike wasn't at the shop ( IT wasn't, as I came to check on it ) he brought it to a place in Hawthorne where he said he had a new garage and all these bells and whistles and that he'd have it back to me in 2 weeks and completed. He blocked my calls, never returned emails, I had to chase his friends and his roomate for answers. Ive spent far too much of my time on this and really would have preferred not to. I found the garage that had my bike as well as 3 others (if your looking for your bike contact me ) The guys in Hawthorne were completely blind sides and pretty pissed off he lied to them as well. They were doing him a courtesy to store "his bikes " for 3 weeks which turned into 3 months. I had to prove that it was my bike. It's now a complete piece of garbage, no plates, stripped from everything. No seat, no tank. I was lucky to even get part of it back by being persistent. Now I want my money back and I'd like for everyone who is missing their bikes to get them back. Never do business with this guy and if you see him around tell him he owes me 2k. Update: after being incredibly persistent I got my 2k back. I made a payment plan with this idiot and had to press hard for it. Was a lot of worth. Worth it? Yep because it's not his and I'd rather give to a friend in need, not a thief. Ive also been contacted by 3 other people who have had the same story. Each owed around 2k and motos stripped to bare bones. This guy is the ultimate worst. Good luck getting back what's yours. He still owes me my plate, which now I have to go to the police station and file a stolen LP report on him. read more

Stopped in this low key motorcycle repair garage behind a barber shop a couple years ago and now have a long term friendship with Jay! I first came in with some carb issues, and left with a tune up as well. Nothing better than honesty and experienced knowledge, especially when you are riding two wheels in LA. A fair man with a fair price and a genuine concern for your well being and safety out there. Not Reliable I had contacted Jay regarding what was thought to be a fuel line issue with my 95 Kawasaki Vulcan. He removed the fuel tank and took the carbs as well to be rebuilt, as well as a key to my bike. He returned a couple of days later and re-installed everything, also changed out a fuel filter. His father had passed away that day so I understood he was dealing with some serious issues. He had forgotten to return my key but I paid him the balance of what I owed him. However, the issue that brought me to him in the first place was not resolved by his work and I contacted him a few days later. He told me he would show up the next day. He did not. Then told me he'd be there a few days later. He did not show up again. I repeatedly asked him when I could expect him. He gave me a date and time and did not show up then. I gave up. However, a couple of weeks later, I noticed my motorcycle key, hanging on a fence next to my bike. NEXT TO MY BIKE. He gave me no notice that he had left the key there. Thank goodness it wasn't stolen. I am now trying to get a receipt for the work, a month later. Again, repeated attempts to contact him with no response. He's a nice guy but not reliable at all. read more

Awesome shop! They took a look at my beater which was having problems after I rolled into town last week. They didn't fix the main problem, which turned out to be a loose battery cable, but did fix my rear break which wasn't working at all and cleaned my spark plugs. Although they took time to work on my bike, they didn't charge me anything, which was really cool considering they seemed to have plenty of other things going on. The main reason why I like Jay, aside from the fact that he really knows his shit, and is a good dude...is because It's becoming increasingly uncommon these days to find real technicians and craftsmen that are exemplary in their field of study while having a good sense of care, hospitality, and value. Absolute most terrible person I had to deal with in recent memory. Exact same sentiments on this person, as a Gigi F. wrote. Has no business owing me money, but somehow owes me money. And still does to this day. The absolute worse of the whole ordeal is the constant lies, and zero intentions to follow up his words. He'll say something like I'll get the money today, but then disappear at the end of the day. The next day he'll make up another lie to tell you. And this didn't happen once, it happened over 20 times in a row. I've never met someone who is an adult that behaves like this. Everyone makes a mistake here and there, but you do not tell someone your going to do something, then fall short 20 times in a row. I'm just going to mention this point for now. If I don't get the rest of my money I will follow up on this. Edit: Follow up - So turns out he's a rip off artist. Still owes me money to this day (been over 6 months). Jay took me in on short notice because without the help, I was simply stranded (...or driving back to Orange County going 25 mph..). He fixed me up and sent me on my way. Great experience. I returned from a trip and my bike had been sitting and wouldn't start. He did a house call which was at my location in no time. Once he had a look at the bike he began to work he replaced the battery and cleaned the carb and fixed the brake light, and even taught be tricked to get the rust off and make it look new again. I was in a pretty tight spot being that I've noticed that I had lost 90% of my front brake power. 1 of the 2 bolts that holds my front caliper on, has gotten up and walked away and left it basically hanging off with minimal brake pad contact for stopping. I needed THAT bolt. Went to a few garages and and shops but to no avail. DR+O popped up on my google maps search, and headed in. Showed him the bolt I needed and after a few moments or rummaging through his tool chest he comes out with it. I ask him what I owed him, he said "nothing." But I don't get down like that.
