Before I started taking lessons with Mark, I would have described myself as a long-suffering marginal, at best, golfer.   I didn't play golf with any consistency, so I just didn't play much golf - a vicious cycle I know.  Over 40 years or so, I've taken lessons from all forms of instructors with the gamut of teaching styles and available teaching technologies.  It seemed that the majority of those experiences were plagued with cookie cutter pieces of advice or gadget-based drills that never clicked with me thus adding to my frustration when I tried to apply them on the course.  It all led to a continued build up of bad habits over the years that made golf hard to enjoy. Because of a handful of lessons with Mark, I can say that I am a markedly improved golfer with a game I am no longer embarrassed by and more and more often, I'm actually proud of! Without exaggeration, with every lesson I've come away with at least one, and sometimes a few, new applicable insights into my game that have made noticeable improvements for me.  Mark has an uncanny ability to see and describe to a student the particular issues they need to address and he does so with words and actions that are easy to understand and apply. I have never felt overwhelmed after a lesson as he keeps his focus on the smart things to work on in a proper sequence - not everything all at once.   He uses the teaching technology available to him in a practical manner that makes it most impactful for the student. And after reading this review, should you be thinking his talent is best-spent on golfers with my set of experiences, you'd be completely incorrect.  I've been warming up for a lesson when he's finishing another lesson nearby with a clearly talented golfer who wants to get a few more yards on his already monster drives and that golfer was clearly getting the results he wanted.  Mark's teaching style is the same with any kind of golfer...approachable, insightful and outcome-driven, plus he's just a pleasure to be around.  I would, and do, highly recommend Mark Durland and Durland Golf to any golfer. read more

My wife and I picked up golf again last year after putting the sticks down for a couple of decades. We started last season with a basic lesson just to get out on the course, and we played a lot over the season. That being said, we both knew we needed (and wanted) professional instruction to get better and have more fun. After researching a lot (and, I mean a lot) of golf schools, we chose to work with Mark. 5 stars all the way around! Mark was a very professional and nice guy to work with. I have had a few lessons with Mark over the years and he always finds a way to improve my game. After going 2+ years without a lesson, I called Mark up and he instantly remembered me. He still had videos of my swing and started reviewing them before we had a lesson. He was able to make some great pointers on how to improve my problem area. He focused on the area of my swing where we could make the biggest improvements and I saw results instantly. I have had experiences with other instructors where they gave me 15+ things to work on making it more complicated then before my lesson, this was not the case with Mark. He gave me 3 takeaways to focus on after the lesson and even followed up the next week to see how the change were going. Would highly recommend Mark to a players of all skill sets. After quite a bit of research, my wife and I traveled from Colorado to Naples (over 2,000 miles) to attend The Durland Golf School. I did the 3 day school and she did a 2 day school. We came with high expectations ... and Mark EXCEEDED them! His disciplined and experienced approach provided the perfect blend of personal instruction, technological reinforcement (Trackman and video), and on-course coaching. He was quick to find our weaknesses and help us overcome them with his ever-present positive attitude. My son started playing golf this year for his school and he wasn't getting to play in the tournaments since he was on the younger and less experienced side than other players in his school. Great golf school! Best instruction I have experienced. Mark is a skilled instructor who evaluated my game and built a three day program around improving on my natural swing where possible and working to create change only where required to improve my swing and results. Mark listens very well and limits his instruction to no more than three fundamental points whenever working on a specific skill. Mark also does a fantastic job of explaining the golf swing simply. As a PGA member and professional I'm very selective when searching for a swing coach. Being from Philadelphia I don't have easy access to see Mark but its definitely worth the trip to Florida. I first went to Mark back in 2017 and was extremely impressed with his knowledge, ability to spot my issues as well as communicate them to me. Mark had great knowledge of the golf swing and has great teaching skills. There was excellent use of Trackman during the lesson. Visuals from recordings were extremely helpful providing immediate feedback and corrective instruction. Follow up after the lesson was fantastic. Within a couple hours after the lesson I received an email with a written summary of the lesson and bullet points of what I should focus on while practicing. My grandson Teddy was here in Florida for Spring break. He's a baseball player in his second year of college. He hasn't had much experience playing golf so I decided to get him a lesson with a Top 100 Golf Digest teacher Mark Durland in Naples Fl. It was a Trackman lesson and Mark was able to translate his baseball skills to the golf swing and he took to it quickly. He had a few zeros on the machine which for the readings were perfect and landed the ball just 2 ft. from the target. All and all a great lesson that Teddy enjoyed. highly recommended! read more

I have been taking lessons from Mark for years and he is an outstanding teacher! What I like most about Mark is his ability to focus on swing mechanics that fit your swing without a major overhaul. A few private lessons during my short stay in Naples resulted in a 5 point drop in my handicap! As a beginner, Mark was patient with me, offered much encouragement, and did not overwhelm me with too many instructions. What I really liked was that he provided me a few simple drills I could practice on my own. My wife and I had a 3 one-half day school with Mark Durland. It was the best golf instruction that we have ever received. He helped with grip, alignment and swing . My first lesson with Mark was amazing! Mark quickly assessed my swing and ball contact and gave me some simple practice drills. We focused on club positioning with the ball so when I made contact I hit that perfect "sweet spot" on the club face. After several practice swings the results were fantastic. I've taken probably 50 golf lessons in my 30 years of playing golf and never could get the distance that I thought I should, it took Mark about 3 minutes to see a couple key issues. My swing speed was 60-65 mph, and has been for ever, now after Mark was done 80+! The only problem I have now is my clubs are going way further than before!!! What a problem to have!!
