We had a fantastic experience at Naples Kayak! During our visit, we rented a two-person surf ski made by Epic, and it was an absolute thrill. The staff made the rental process easy, and getting out on the water was smooth from start to finish. The surf ski itself was a highlight--it felt sleek, fast, and responsive compared to traditional kayaks. Paddling together was both fun and efficient, and it gave us a taste of just how much performance these boats can deliver. I've often thought about owning my own surf ski, and this outing only reinforced that idea. They're so much faster than standard kayaks, and the ride is exhilarating. Problems with Naples Outfitters & Kayak Co. A large group of us experienced kayakers rented kayaks from from Naples Kayaks a week ago to be delivered at 9am at Shell Island put-in. We all arrived at 8:45 as directed and waited. . No one from your operations contacted us that you would be late. At 9:20 the truck arrived. We helped offload the boats and gear. A seat for the sit-on-top was missing. Another 30 minute delay. A black paddle with a degraded fiberglass shaft shed fiberglass particles that embedded into the skin of one customer causing her GREAT discomfort! Then more delays and confusion with your credit card system and poor cell service. Before launching we found that the tandem sit-on-top L foot peg was frozen (R one worked) so it was useless in controlling the vessel. One of the blue blade paddles twisted 90 degrees in a strong current through a narrow mangrove pass. The loss of control caused the kayaker be swept into the mangrove branches and capsize. She had her life jacket on. We turned over her boat, TACOed her back in and got her into warm, dry clothes. I pulled the blade off and discovered that... THE PADDLE BLADE WAS HELD ON WITH MASKING TAPE!! AMAZING THAT IT DID NOT FALL OFF COMPLETELY!! We have rented from this outfitter several times in the past and had positive experiences. I highly recommend that renters check their gear upon possession before paying. read more

Rented a tandem peddle-drive fishing kayak and explored Rookery Bay with a friend. (Two separate days.) Michelle (Rockford, IL girl!) and Sean (local axe-throwing sniper) were very friendly and accommodating. The equipment was dropped off mid-morning and the pickup was at 5:15 PM, so we had all day to explore and fish the mangroves. We had some issues with the kayak seats leaning back too much and the rudder not working properly even when fully deployed ... but overall the peddle drive was solid and I could use the paddle to help steer. The life jackets provided had been kept in a damp hatch in the front of the kayak and were in need of a thorough wash and dry. We used them to help brace our backs and they were very sour smelling. The actual store front is nice with lots of gear and apparel. They have a nice selection of kayaks for all ages and skill levels. The fact that they will drop off / pick up your rental gear to a location of your choosing is nice. Overall it was nice dealing with them and we would use them again. Didn't give 5 stars due to the issues with maintenance / wear and tear with the gear. Will know what to look out for next time. We look forward to returning. read more

She called us when storms delayed our trip, and was super accommodating, even/especially during Covid. Excellent service and really nice equipment for rent. We rented a sit on and a touring kayak for a backcountry camping trip in the Everglades, coming from out of state. Rates were reasonable. Booking over the phone was super easy. Kayaks were a lot nicer than we expected (a lot lighter as well!). Returned a day early and got credited back. Overall a fantastic experience. Highly recommend! I took one-on-one Paddleboard lessons. I contacted the store, they gave me Simon's number. I called and arranged a session, paid over the phone through the store. Simon was accommodating to my schedule, sent me google coordinates so I wouldn't have trouble finding him. He is a fantastic teacher!! He gave clear directions so I was successfully standing up and paddling in no time. I am 65 years old and no athlete but have kayaked and canoed a few times over the years. He was encouraging and helped me enjoy the wildlife and the nature of our surroundings. I was nervous about doing this and if you are too, don't hesitate, do it!! Worth every penny. read more

I took my family on the 3 hour Bioluminescence tour last night. I highly recommend it. Our guide Tom Long was exceptional in his breadth of knowledge and how he interacted with our group especially the junior member of our group. Besides the bioluminescent jelly fish which were numerous we paddled to Rookery Island and saw a wide variety of species of birds that roost there during the night, we saw mating Bottlenose Dolphins, a gorgeous sunset, a beautiful star lit sky and paddled through amazing mangrove tunnels in the pitch black. A very cool experience from start to finish. read more

I don't even know where to begin - the sunset kayak was spectacular! Booking was a cinch, a call from our tour guide Tom the day before making sure we knew what to expect was above and beyond and trip was one of our best adventures. A marine biologist, Tom was extremely knowledgeable. The tour was absolutely magical and was the most perfect way to end our trip to Naples. We watched the sun set and the moon rise. We watched the dolphins fish for dinner in the moonlight and thousands of different species of birds settling in for the night on a rookery in the middle of the marsh. Truly amazing trip. Tom was our guide and is so informative. Our tour included 4 people plus Tom. We did the 6:45 pm sunset trip and although the moon was out (so no bioluminescent visibility) it was breathtaking to watch the sunset and the rising moon. Being out there in the dark was a really cool and serene experience. I would HIGHLY recommend Tom as your guide. Not only was he knowledgeable about everything, but he was also a great conversationalist. We really enjoyed our trip and next time we're in Naples, we plan on doing another one! read more

On Friday June 12, my husband and I drove to Naples Outfitters looking for a car top carrier for our kayak. We walked into the store. There was a woman at the desk talking to a man who had rented a kayak for a future trip. Another guy came from the back, looked at us, said nothing and went to a computer behind the counter. Then another guy came from the back and started doing stuff behind the counter. No one ever asked us if we needed help or even acknowledged us. The customer left, the woman went to the back but 2 guys remained behind the counter. They talked to each other. After 7 minutes of walking around and looking at items we decided to leave. Even when we walked out, no one said anything to us. We won't be shopping at Naples Outfitters. read more

I was taken on an evening Bioluminescent kayaking tour as a date. Having no idea what to expect (I have only been in canoes before), it was an absolutely memorable experience. Between seeing all the wildlife on Rookery at sunset to gliding through the dim-lit mangroves with glowing waters, i was breathless. Tom was our tour guide and he was a delight! He mixed in plenty of knowledge and humor in our tour :) He instructed my date and i perfectly (as we rented a double kayak), we were able to complete the 3 hour tour with nothing but laughter. Went on a evening paddle to a local bird rookery, watch the sunset, then was led through the mangrove tunnels at night to see the bioluminensce with guide Tom Long. What a great time! Tom has a wealth of knowledge of the paddling trails, the wildlife, and marine activity. Learned quite a bit about bioluminensce and was thrilled to see the various types in the water, bouncing off our paddles, with sparks, blobs, and clouds of color. Fascinating!!! My boyfriend and I booked a paddle board tour last minute while visiting family in Naples. Our tour guide, Siera, texted us the morning-of with directions and showed up on time with all of the equipment. Siera taught us a few basics and we were up and paddling in no-time! He was very knowledgeable of the Florida wildlife and environment and we could tell he enjoyed talking about these topics and answering our questions. I booked the Rookery Bay tour and it was a wonderful experience. I am a kayaker but don't like to go out alone when I am not familiar with the waters. I'd reached out via email to a local paddling association and they recommended Naples Kayak Company. So glad I listened! Booking was easy, but there may not be many tours going out in the slow season so you may need to be flexible as there needs to be at least 2 people booked. I was able to book at the outfitters store and pick up some items I needed while I was there. I was impressed they immediately emailed all of the information needed - where to go, what to bring. I even received a call the night before so I would know exactly what to expect and have an opportunity to ask questions. Even though I kayak regularly, it was comforting to know they paid so much attention to detail and made sure each client could make the most of the trip. Would totally book again next time I am in the area. Got some great photos taken by Tom and even took some myself of a pair of dolphins that joined us. read more

Rented the hobie mirage outback for 2 days. The gentleman at the store took great care of me and had me loaded up and ready to go in under 10 minutes, which included installing a roof rack on my sedan. They kayak was in great condition and I had no complaints about any of the gear. This past Saturday I tried SUP for the first time. I found Naples Kayak Company online and gave them a call. It was very easy to make an appointment. I had an introductory lesson with Jesse. We met down at the Naples Pier beach at 8th avenue so. Totally easy to find and plenty of free parking. I was a bit nervous to get out and have my first SUP experience be on the open waters of the gulf but it was AMAZING. Jesse is completely knowledgable and made me feel at ease. He shared the history of paddle boarding, explained different stroke techniques and then we were ready to get in the water. Within minutes of getting comfortable on the board, I was actually standing and paddling! Also within minutes, a dolphin swam right past us...maybe 10 feet away! SO after one lesson, this girl from Boston is hooked. Before we got out of the water, I made a second reservation for another lesson the next day with Jesse and I brought my 10 year old son. He had the BEST time ever! Jesse is a great instructor for kids and adult alike! Great guy, great sport....fully recommend trying the sport and Naples Kayak Company! Thanks again! read more
